‘obama fundraising report signals juggernaut campaign’

Washington Post: Nearly 250 bundlers have raised $50,000 or more for President Obama just three months into the 2012 campaign, including more than two dozen who have each raised $500,000 or more.

The bundler list and other data released Friday provide further evidence of an astonishingly successful fundraising effort by Obama…

Obama’s official campaign raised $46.3 million and spent $11 million from April to June of this year, according to new documents filed with the Federal Election Commission. That left it with a whopping $37 million in case, including money left over from the first quarter. Obama also brought in $39.3 million in a joint fundraising effort with the Democratic National Committee, filings show.

The numbers put Obama far ahead of his GOP rivals, who are led by former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney with about $18 million raised. The rest of the Republican field lags well behind with $5 million or less raised by each of them in the second quarter.

Obama’s biggest fundraisers include longtime supporters such as Hollywood mogul Jeffrey Katzenberg, former New Jersey governor Jon Corzine and fashion editor Anna Wintour, all of whom have raised more than $500,000 for Obama’s re-election effort …. but there are new names on the list as well, such as Marc Benioff, a tech CEO who runs salesforce.com.

Hollywood super-agent Ari Emanuel, the brother of former White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel, helped raise between $50,000 and $100,000, the campaign said.

The sheer number of bundlers – and the volume of donations they represent – signals another potential juggernaut campaign for Obama, who shattered all records in 2008 by raising $745 million. Obama had 47 bundlers during the entire 2008 campaign who raised $500,000 or more – a number he is already more than halfway to matching.

…. Campaign officials said previously that more than 550,000 individual donors had contributed to Obama’s re-election effort in the second quarter – including 260,000 new donors – with an average contribution amount less than $70…..

had to look it up – definition of juggernaut:
massive inexorable force, campaign, movement, or object that crushes whatever is in its path

Thanks for the definition~ it is a perfect word for what is we & Barack Obama together. Added your definition to my tweet, thank you.

But, but. but. the all-important, self-inflated egotistical PLs say everyone hates PBO.

More news to rile up Jane Hamsher. Wonder what she’s going to call these donors. What is Adam Green going to say now?

    Lordy, lordy.

    • July 15, 2011 at 7:47 pm

She, the one who has name called others dumb mother f*uckers, has apparently requested 10 dollars to her folksies after the Prez’s presser!
Check it out,if you care to! What a con artist!

    • July 15, 2011 at 7:50 pm

Oh, they are already on the trail of the truth. Adam tweeted it before the president ended his press conference. I am sure Jane did too.
I am sure they are thinking, oh no ammunition to use against PBO. Not. We are onto these skunks.

Beside, Jane is going to support Ron Paul. Idiot. Obvious this is one emoprog who has lost their mind.

That’s fantastic. What the article fails to mention is the vast amount of money hedge fund managers, the Chamber of Commerce, Koch Brothers, et.al. are going to spend to try to defeat President Obama thanks to the Citizens United ruling by the Supreme Court.

and he’ll need every dime of it

  5. July 15, 2011 at 7:27 pm

This is so amazing. The People’s View is seeking donations from its readers also. This is COOL. Is that a term anyone uses anymore?

Chip Reid ended his tour as CBS Chief WH Correspondent tonight. Norah O’Donnell will be taking his place. Since I don’t watch these freaks on teevee, does anybody think she’ll be any better than Chip Reid?

To me, Nora is way better than Chip. I’ve watched her fill in for some of the MSNBC afternoon lineup like Contessa Brewer, Tamron Hall and Andrea Mitchell and so far so good. I’ve also watched her grill a bunch of GOP congressmesn/women and it was a delight to watch. She is also a regular on the Chris Matthews Show that airs on sundays and no complaints from me so far. It’ll just have to be a wait, watch and see attitude.

    • July 15, 2011 at 7:55 pm

I have seen a lot of Norah, but not for a while. She is not quite as obnoxious at Chip, but she, like all of these newstainers, will probably try to score against PBO.

No. I think he’s just going to be a Senior News Correspondent for CBS or something like that.

Nora appeared regularly on Morning Joe and was always the one speaking up for the Prez position. The right wing media did not like her. So she is a winner in my book.

Wow, just wow! Even though it is alot we know that all that will be raised against him will be in secret. They don’t dare come out in the open.

Booyah!!! Just mailed my birthday donation today. This is going to be something to watch. Does anyone know what the comparison is for donations raised during the same time period in his 07/08 campaign?

@ this time in 2007 PBO raised $33 million from 180,000 donors. Today’s figures break all historical records. Of course citizen’s united muddies the impact of all this clean fundraising PBO has done. I hope that liberal moneybags are also pouring money into Bill Burton’s Priorities USA so we can fight the Rovian slushfunds.

it will be an epic battle.

Technology and the Internet is freakin amazing! I saw this on twitter, came to TOD and BAM! Chips has it up. Hail to the JUGGERNAUT that is President Obama. The rightwing is going to have unregulated PACs and the like so every dime, every fundraiser, every bundler is welcome. I’m happy that PBO is advancing and doing excellently well financially. Good news like this makes me happy happy happy and I’m even happier when I see GOP and PL heads combust! 😆

  13. July 15, 2011 at 7:53 pm

    Chips are you here?????

  14. July 15, 2011 at 7:56 pm

Let’s see, I donated $$$ for the reelection of PBHO, bought 2 magnets plus 5 bumper stickers to share (commie here and DMF) then turned around and donated $13 to celebrate Malia’s BD plus my brother came over and had to get some cash from him to throw into the O’bucket, so YES we can CELEBRATE some more!
Happy to be in all the way.

These Bundlers needs to be put in contact with Bill Burton. The only way the GOP will ever move on fixing th Citizens United Ruling is if the Dems match or do better than them at the outside SuperPac fundraising game. If GOP is still winning that fundraising 7-to-1 like I believe I read it was for 2010 the GOP will NEVER allow for any changes. But if it’s 1:1 or should the Dems get the upper hand than you might see some GOP find their conscience and see that it’s not a political decision anymore as they are not having to cast a blind eye to it because of the political advantage it would give.

I love to read thru those list of names and mostly their locations. I was so furious at Joe Ricketts, the owner of the Chgo Cubs who formed one of those fakey Super-Pacs in 2010 and that Pac—-he was the sole member—-donated $600,000 to Crazy Sharon Angle’s Sen. campaign in Nev. in her race against Harry Reid. I wrote my extreme displeasure about that idiotic decision to the Cubs, stupid bsns. decision also, Chgo not a hotbed of rt. wing extremist crazy. Anyhoo, just noticed that his openly gay daughter, Laura, is one of the big fundraisers for Obama. Yes!
Also thought it was interesting when I just checked on that race in Nevada that Rasmussen had Angle ahead 49-46 on Oct. 26 just days before the election. Good ol’ Ras.
