‘reminder, the deficit you’re freaking out about is bush’s fault’

June 2010:

Business Insider: President Obama’s administration has been blamed for reckless spending that has put America into its debt hole. But in reality, much of that spending emanates from policies of President Bush, according to the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities.

They argue that Iraq, Afghanistan, and the Bush tax cuts (along with the economic downturn) are what is driving the U.S. deficit, not stimulus spending. The CBPP focuses on lower to middle income issues and may be directly involved with the Democratic Party.

The chart (above) presents the ugly truth.

Whenever I discuss this crisis we face, I will always place the blame where it lies, with G.W. Bush. Some people love to say, how long are you going to blame Bush, it’s Obama economy now. I will tell it to them like this, if I wreck my car and drove it off the cliff, so my brother is down there trying to fix the car and bring the car up. Now when the police comes along, and ask me who drove that car off the cliff? Am I to say my brother drove it off the cliff because he is behind the wheel trying to bring it up. Meaning of my story, G.W. Bush left this economy in a darn, no a dam mess, that President Obama is trying to clean up. Anything this President had to spend it was to try to keep things from getting worse, Just imagine, if Bush had left Obama a surplus like Clinton left Bush.

The downturn of this economy is and always will be GWB’s fault. People think that the TRILLIONS of dollars wasted on two unpaid wars, an unpaid prescription bill, and two unpaid tax cuts can be fixed in 2 years. President Obama is right to say that he inherited this catastrophe. The Administration ended up recouping money from the stimulus spending, auto and bank bailout; so the stimulus in no way contributes to the overarching deficit and those people who say President Obama should own the deficit clearly lack an understanding of basic mathematics.

it is sad when we have a media that does not fact check Republicans or provide any context on the deficit. The media does not try to inform or educate anymore. It is just he said, she said.
