Just got off a national volunteer call!! Oh baby!! We are FIRED UP!! It’s the day to day stuff that gets it done. It doesn’t matter WHO the Republican candidate is, we HAVE TO PROTECT WHAT WE’VE WORKED SO HARD FOR!!

There is a very detailed, informative and sobering post about the debt limit at PoliticusUSA by Thomas Bishop.

But by blocking all initiatives to create jobs while insisting on massive cuts to social welfare provisions, and domestic spending in education, health care, infrastructure, and the energy sector, Republicans — at the behest of their corporate elite masters rich with cash and able to create jobs – are only making deficit matters worse for political gain – and intentionally so.
    How we got here:

On September 16, 2008, failures of massive financial institutions in the United States, due primarily to deregulation and corporate elitist greed and predatory practices — exposure of securities of packaged subprime loans and credit default swaps issued to insure these loans and their issuers, rapidly devolved into a global crisis resulting in a number of bank failures in Europe and sharp reductions in the value of equities (stock) and commodities worldwide. The failure of banks in Iceland resulted in a devaluation of the Icelandic Krona and threatened the government with bankruptcy. Iceland was able to secure an emergency loan from the IMF in November. In the United States, 15 banks failed in 2008, while several others were rescued through government intervention or acquisitions by other banks. On October 11, 2008, the head of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) warned that the world financial system was teetering on the “brink of systemic meltdown.”

The Republicans now disingenuously complain about the massive spending of this Administration – spending necessitated by their failed policies which led to the economic meltdown.

Reflections on Tally and Truth …

    Hate blinds.

    Hate deafens.

    Hate renders one insentient.

Thus, the bulk of members of the Republican Party in the House and the Senate lurch, wander, stumble and wobble into the path of their own assured obliteration.

    The light is bright.

The engineer is blasting all the horns and whistles.

But the freight train of 235 cars loaded with the blood and suffering and genius and good and passion and rule of law is moving way too fast for the engineer to ever stop it in time.

    The engineer tried.

He likely would have sacrificed even his own life he could have saved those who didn’t have the capacity to see, listen, and comprehend that the solvency of America and the future of America were not going to go off the tracks to avoid crushing a bunch of hate-filled, avaricious fools.

The big engine propelling that train is called the Constitution of the United States of America.

And, the engineer knows that document and all it’s legal underpinnings better than most.

He knows as a true American that he cannot violate that Constitution.

As President, he has never forgotten that he is sworn to never violate that Constitution.

He will try to slow the train, but, in the end if the train splatters those hate-filled, avaricious fools … so be it.

The United States of America will not be derailed or stopped.

    Yes.We.Can. … DO.More.Together!

It was the Republican Party that decided it was important to read the Constitution out loud at the beginning of the 112th (DO NOTHING) congress. Ironically, in the six months that the Republicans have been in the majority, they have made a mockery of the Constitution and the oath they took to uphold it.

As required by Article 6 of the U.S. Constitution, Members of Congress shall be bound by oath or affirmation to support the Constitution. Representatives, delegates, and the resident commissioner all take the oath of office on the first day of the new Congress, immediately after the House has elected its Speaker. The Speaker of the House administers the oath of office as follows:

“I, (name of Member), do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God.”

Referring to a post up thread…..Romney’s followers are fired up???? His followers are zombies. How can anyone in his/her right mind call Romney’s supporters fired up? Probably answered my question within my question…..

Exactly carolyn. PBO’s enemies will try to make up any meme or falsehood to make it seem like PBO is withering away in the suset. The Jews and AA base turning against PBO meme has been shattered with recent polls. Now the Rethugs and Big Orange are going with Romney supporters are out enthusing OFA. Yeah…………RIGHT!! Does Romney even have supporters? His campaign is being built on self and corporate financing with a manufactured human following. If he does have supporters they are probably comatose from all his lies, missteps, and flip/flopping. Why do sane folks even go to the DKos? Unthinkable!!
