So true Sue, they grow up so quickly and you wonder where the time went. Engage with your children each and everyday, you will not get that time back and tomorrow is not promise. Love is the key to your happiness not stuff.

Wow! Another July 4th birthday girl. Happy Birthday!

I never minded the 30th, either, or the 40th and even the 50th was fun (surprise party in my honor). But, 60!!!!! Ugh. Finally I couldn’t deny I was a senior citizen and when the he// did that happen?!!

“I always think we should be born old and then get younger every year!”

Hey Chipsticks, that sounds like the plot to a very interesting SciFi movie. Think you could develop a script for that? πŸ™‚

          • July 4, 2011 at 9:37 am

              July 4, 2011 at 10:13 am

Oh yeah there’s an ending. Remember Brad Pitt from the movie “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” who was born super old. He was a baby with arthritic bones and every year he grew younger and younger until he became a new born baby and croaked. So….. Chips in your Sci-Fi version you might want to put a clause that freezes us (men and women) in our early twenties with banging bodies and fresh faces…. so that:

              1. We are allowed to legally purchase alcohol for those days both good and bad

              2. We are allowed to vote

              3. We can rock bikinis and swim trunks like no other

              4. We can go ape shit crazy in Vegas…. woooohooooooo!!!!

              5. We can wear all styles of clothing and not be self conscious

              6. We can be supermodels (men and women) all day everyday

              7. We can have the energy to continuously KICK GOP ASS all day everyday!!!!!! πŸ˜‰

        • July 4, 2011 at 9:37 am

I LOVE this idea, especially if an old birth comes with all the ‘wisdom’ that it takes one so long to acquire! πŸ˜† The way things are now, you acquire the wisdom and don’t have enough oomph and time to really enjoy and put it to good practice, and when you try to share it, the youngsters give you a ‘whatever’ πŸ™„ Of course, I’d want to stop the getting younger process at the point where I can speak – I love being able to communicate, so none of the baby babbling stuff for me!

Happy Birthday to all the TOD ladies (didn’t notice any males) celebrating today! πŸ˜† πŸ˜†

Best of wishes to you, Malia, in case you peek in here! We ALL wish you a wonderful 13th year, and several more years at Pennsylvania Ave!

One of the consolations of being a Capricorn (otherwise a rather dull, useful sign) is that you’re supposed to get younger as you get older. So now that I’m 60, I’m figuring to have a great time from here on out. (I just wish my neck and thighs had gotten the message!)

Happy birthday to Malia! Thanks for these wonderful pix, Chipsticks. My favorite is the second from the bottom, where Malia looks so excited, and PBO has that “How did I get talked into this?” look a lot of parents get when their kids have convinced them to go on a stomach churning carnival ride.

Good morning and best wishes for a fun filled 4th of July for all TODers!! And a very special Happy Birthday to First Family beauty Mailia Obama. This is the beginning of a new era for her and I know she will be continually surrounded by the unconditional love of her parents and grandmother. I once saw PBO’s sister Maya speak at a small reception and she spoke so lovingly of Malia. She is a very special young woman and it has been a pleasure to watch her grow in the last couple of years. What a future she has before her!!!!

    Happy birthday Malia
Happy birthday to all the other “birthday kids” today – every “0” birthday signalling a new decade used to be so aggravating to me (how was it possible to still feel like being 30 inside but the mirror said something different!!)
Happy birthday to this country that I love – so much to love despite all its shortcomings and all the crazies and hate

Malia has so much going for her: great genes, great looks, great opportunities but she is most fortunate to have such great parents, her grandmother and other supportive extended family. That unconditional love and guidance will help to guide and sustain her down the road when so many false people and paths fall away. Enjoyed that Chicago Trib article posted here.

TOD family, I hesitated to bring this here on such a day of celebration, but FoxNewsPolitics has fake tweets up announcing that PBO was assassinated. They’re claiming they were hacked but the tweets are still there. I’m so tired of these sick, twisted individuals who claim to be Christians and even human beings. I’m disgusted.

    • 69 utaustinliberal
      July 4, 2011 at 10:40 am

Oh yeah POB, Kasai mentioned it on the “from california to new york” thread. Look at the thread. When it was first tweeted, a lot of people got upset, became emotional and were crying. If fox noise says they were hacked, why do they still have the tweets on their twitter page? I saw the multiple tweets and boy there are some sick, sick, sick people out there. Did you also see that #ifobamadead is trending on twitter? People are pissed off and are complaining to twitter and the whitehouse so that SS can investigate. I tried getting on twitter 2 minutes ago and it said it is at over capacity. A bunch of fox noise viewers were already tweeting names of republican replacements. Sick, sick abhorrent creatures. Twiiter customer service is probably getting an earful from people about why they would allow such a topic to trend.

And a very special, big, ginormous happy 13th to the new teenager in the whitehouse. 13 for girls is a very rough time normally. Add to that the constant glare of the media and crazies saying nutty things about your dad and I can just image what the year ahead will be like for her. The good news is she has the strong, grounded, loving support of a great family and trusted friends to guide, counsel and help her through it, so I’m sure she will remain her sweet, intelligent, poised and beautiful self. Or as I heard her mom or dad once refer to her ‘the oracle’. lol

I went to http://whitehouse.gov/contact and left a birthday greeting under the subject of ‘the first family’ Won’t you all join and tell everyone you can think of to also? I hope if enough people email b-day wishes they will pass them on to the family. Thanks all.

Stuff to put you in an Independence Day state of mind. The 2011 concert will be aired at 8PM tonight and include performances by Josh Groban, Jordin Sparks, Little Richard, Kellie O’hara, etc. The concert will be followed by DC fireworks show from 9:30-10PM. Also, for the NYers who love the macy’s fireworks, I believe that will be aired from 9:00-10:00PM – check your local listings.

President O will give remarks at 6:30 from his barbecue celebration.

I am very proud of Malia and her sister Sasha. I thank The Almighty they are the First Daughters and I pray that The Almighty will keep them on the straight and narrow. They have wonderful, outstanding, loving, understanding, and caring parents–King Barack and Queen Michelle. Royalty rules The White House!

I’m very concerned about what their lives will be like once they become adults and on their own. Of all the first offspring to live at The White House, I’m convinced they are in the most vulnerable or dangerous position. Crazy people, racists, nutcases, hateful and evil people are out there–people who just can’t stand their father and/or don’t trust him. These are the same people who will vilify and insult them (that is, if they’re not doing that already) once they get to be adults. These are the same crackpots who will take their anger out on them “because of what their father supposedly did or said.” I’ve heard of the saying, “Sons being blamed for the sins of the father”. In this case, it will be the daughters being blamed for the “sins” of their father. In addition, I am convinced Michelle Obama will not be immune to this backlash from people, either. She has been vilified as well as her husband. Very sad.

I thank Almighty God that the Obamas are a strong, praying family with wills of iron. All this venom out there, and they remain cool, calm, and collected. I pray that Almighty God keep His Divine Protection on them now and forever! Too many crazies out there!

thanks a lot for the many Happy 4th wishes that so many of you shared. thanks a lot for those who recognized that Independent Day represents not the great historical commemoration but also a chance to renew the country’s spirit and recommit to making the USA a more perfect union.

From a personal note, thanks a lot Chipsticks for the special recognition you made of my eternal-sixteenth birthday!!! Thanks so much to all members of the TOD Family for your wishes. I was very touched and of course I did the only thing that comes naturally to me at moments when I am extremely happy – I cried!!! This will go done as a unique day in my life that I will treasure. thanks a lot for the shout-out!!
