Great video Chips. I admire how POTUS and FLOTUS have made this Whitehouse the peoples house. They weren’t kidding when they said they said they wanted to open it to one and all, make it more accessible, more caring, efficient and compassionate. Kudos on a job well accomplished.

Don’t let it ruin our holiday and Malia’s birthday. Stay focused and keep hammering #mediafail Ignore Fox. They are a microscopic niche market desperate to improve their sagging summer ratings. Don’t buy into it.

Agreed! This is not unexpected and as long as the Secret Service was notified it will be taken care of. There will be more of this nonsense before the election next year. Relax and have a wonderful holiday!

Good Day TOD Family. And a great thank you to our wonderful Chipsticks for our beautiful haven here for our family to enjoy. Happy 4th to our nation, and a most beautiful Happy Birthday to our lovely Malia. May all of our celebrations around the nations be filled with lots of love, joy, thanksgiving, and much laaughter. Be peaceful and stay focus. May our President and Vice President be calm, and be given much wisdom as they lead our beautiful country. Grant them peace, protection, and provisions to do the very best for all of us, most Higher Power. Amen.

I was hoping people wouldn’t feel the need to drag the dreck from the end of the last thread (which spoiled a perfectly lovely Happy Birthday thread) over to this one, but alas….

Anyway, thanks Chips for those lovely photos of Daddy’s Girl, Malia — she was a precious baby and is growing to a lovely young lady. Love will take her very far.

Happy Birthday, Malia, Happy Birthday America, and Happy 4th, TOD Family

Happy 4th, TODers, & America! Happy Birthday to everyone who is celebrating today! Happy Holiday to Chipsticks! After listening to the video, I thought to myself, wow, what a man. He’s still a Community Leader with a bigger title. I just love how he can walk into any situation and have a normal conversation. Doesn’t he realize these people are ’bout two breaths away from fainting?

Fox doesn’t exist in my world, and if I hear anything that supposedly orginated there, I erase my mind.

Happy Birthday, Malia. I read the article linked last night about the maturity of these Obama girls. Blew me away. When I look to understand I see so much love in all their family photos. Clearly these are the ones the public has access to, but you cannot fake thaose expressions, that body language. It is outstanding, inspiring. I also think both girls look beautiful both with straightened hair and not. I also noticed how pefectly PBO held is infant daughter. So natural, so right. My husband had never held a baby in his life, but also looks like he was born to it in our old phtos. Ah….good stuff.

Happy Birthday to beautiful Malia. I am so thankful for the First Family. I loved the community organizer video. I was watching it and thinking about how the President watches over every single aspect of enriching and supporting this country. He, the First Lady, and his administration are working in harmony to make all of our lives better. Bless them!

Wishing all of you a dazzling 4th of July.

  18. July 4, 2011 at 2:19 pm

It doesn’t matter what they do, Jovie. The President keeps his eye on the goal and just keeps on going. I like his plan myself. It’s rational and thoughtful in the way that all of his actions have been.

Happy birthday Malia!!! your parents and this entire country are so proud of you!!!! Here is a clip from Beyonce’s World Tour, she was in DC performing before leaving the country. Michelle, Sasha and Malia went to the concert. At the beginning of the clip you hear Beyonce recognizing Sasha and Malia:

Thanks for another informative link Jovie. You never say Bill Clinton doing this. And folks wonder why he is promoting Huntsman, Romney, and Bachmann. Corporate baby……they hate government regulation. The ANTI-OBAMA beat from money boys will get louder. Obviously PBO is not afraid of gaining disfavor from them. Sometimes I just sit back in amazement and wonder at all of the various parts of our POTUS; loving father and husband, baby whisperer, comforter, and sports nut on one hand, and master strategist and steeley -eyed ass kicker (I just re-watched the 60 mminutes interview re: the killing of bin laden)on the other. As someone stated up-thread, “what a man, what a man, what a man, what a mighty good man!”. This is a POTUS like non-other; we are so lucky.

    Obama/Biden 2012, fired up!

And with all his talents, intellect and accomplishments, he’s so easy to talk to. Just a man of the people. The video of him visiting Ross really shows this to me. The way he chatted with the folks in the restaurant so easily. The way the owner hugged and kissed him and then when they were talking during his visit, she would touch his arm like he was a relative or a very close friend. He’s just so easy for people to talk with. That’s why this stupid media meme about him being aloof (started during the primaries) is such a crock. When people meet him they see he’s anything but aloof.

  26. July 4, 2011 at 3:57 pm

Good news. Largest teachers union endorses PBO’s re-election. No union has ever endorsed this early in campaign.

I’m real late on this but just had to comment. Miz Yolanda is a great supporter of PBO. She speaks of him fondly on the her morning radio show and she has her listeners lift him up in prayer often. Even though it is a gospel/talk show – she will have sometimes even have a hot topic call in on something to do with the President and it is always positive!

Isn’t this just like him? Slipping little visits in here and there. Always with his finger on the pulse. Motivating, appreciating, supporting. Was there another President like this and I just wasn’t paying attention? I’ve never seen anything like him. How lucky are we???

There is a very heartwarming documentary on CNN right now. Going state to state interviewing new citizens, where they’re from, why they came here, what they love about this country etc. There have been a couple references to President Obama. It began with he and another guy reciting the Pledge of Allegiance, and then this really nice Polish guy said when President Obama was elected, he knew this was a full democracy, and he isn’t going anywhere, this is the country for him. It’s really great.

    • July 4, 2011 at 4:35 pm

i’m watching it too dotster. The one thing that one lady said that struck me was that people in this country are always complaining. Maybe some of us should spend more time counting our blessings. But for the grace of GOD some us could be in the Sudan or Malawi.

I just realized this is Alexandra Pelosi’s documentary, Nancy’s daughter. It’s America Through The Eyes of Immigrants: A 50 State Road Trip. The premiere is tonight on HBO at 9p.m. Eastern. For some reason CNN got permission to air it this afternoon. Try to watch it, one and all. It is well worth it. Emotional and beautiful.

    • July 4, 2011 at 5:46 pm

My husband got me to watch that program with him yesterday. It brought back my own memories when I was sworn in on May 2, 2008. I sped up my paperwork so that I could get the chance to vote for PBO. And on that day in November, I took my son with me. For, it was not just a vote, it was the first time I voted for any person in my life. My tears filled my glasses, I could hardly see what I was doing.

When I left home back in the early 80s, we did not hold elections. Voting for POB that day was one of the best experiences I have had in my life. I wrote a piece for my local paper, talking about voting for the first time.

Thank you so much for your very moving personal account. There is so much to learn from people like you and all the new citizens featured in this documentary. We forget how fortunate we are to live here. It’s a reminder to be grateful and to count our blessings and to keep working to make sure this country remains the beacon of hope as seen “through the eyes of immigrants”.

Americans have always bragged about the business bonafides of our candidate as a barometer of whether they would make a good president but who knew that being a community organizer is really the perfect qualifications for the job. Who else is better able to bring people together to work for their community and, by extension, the common good of their country? Business experience and a law degree should be secondary qualifications.

Today’s random thought after seeing that clip.
