thank you!

Hey you lovely people – thank you so much for helping the blog reach its Obama/Biden 2012 fundraising target at barackobama.com – massively MASSIVELY appreciated! There are so many grassroots fundraising pages over there, just imagine what they’re raising when you combine the totals. It’s completely fantastic.

Rather than upping the target again, I’ve decided just to simplify things and direct anyone who wants to donate to Obama/Biden 2012 to the main donation page at barackobama.com (here) – I’ve update the link in the right sidebar, click the logo and it’ll take you there.

Thank you again everyone – sounds to me like you’re fired up and ready to go 😉

Yes, we can, again! You are so right TrumpDog. Let’s keep the magic happening.

I think you should up TOD target again! It is great to be able to give while also being able to give a nod to you and all you do Chips!

    • July 1, 2011 at 9:23 pm

      Ah, thank you M!

I just reckoned it might be better to simplify it all with one link to the main donation page at barackobama.com – also, I know when some fundraising efforts, like ‘Dinner with Barack’, started up people were worried that they wouldn’t be entered in the ‘draw’ unless they donated through the main page there. I’d imagine you’d be entered wherever you donated at the site, but I could definitely understand why some just preferred to use the main donation page.

      Thanks again M 😉

I would like to add my voice to M’s. I love the community feeling that I find here, and that is all due to your Herculean efforts. As I would check the total each day as it would rise, I felt as if it was our way to say thank you to you as much as aiding the cause. It was fun to watch the thermometer rise and to realize we were all playing a part.

Yes, I see your point regarding the confusion about the dinner with Barack eligibility, but how about you consider setting a new fundraising goal on this blog down the line or even a few different times during the campaign. i think there is a consensus that we are all really proud to support Obama/Biden 2012 through TOD! Being a part of a smaller group/community/family effort has a great feeling to it. Keep carrying on Chips. You are amazing.

        Hey Chipsticks,
I donated yesterday through your page here, did you add that to this total. I didn’t get paid until yesterday, and I know the 30th was the deadline. Just wondering. I also love donating through a small community, but as long as Prez. gets my money, it’s ok. I did like having the TOD page.

Awesome Chips! Everytime they piss us off – which is pretty much everyday nowadays – we respond with more donations. By the time 2012 rolls around OBAMA/BIDEN campaign website will be drowning in an avalanche of funds. Thank you Supreme Court for Citizens United – *sarcasm* – you deemed a corporation a human being, we’ll show you what real human beings accomplish when we form a coalition!

Thank you Chipsticks for stepping up to lead this team…. It was great fun and our site is hot, hot, hot…..

Michele you are spot on. I feel rather strange because I can not really do the moment thing. I have committed to a monthly gift. I stand with you, but I am giving all I can.

Did you ever find out if donating via ObamaDiary also entered you into the dinner prize? I like donating through the various blogs as a community thing. Maybe at some point we could have a friendly competition amongst the blogs to fundraise.

    • July 1, 2011 at 9:44 pm

To be honest Nellcote, I found it impossible to get any feedback from the site when I had questions about stuff like that. I emailed them about three months ago about ‘technical’ problems with the site … I still haven’t heard back. Not good. The President deserves better than this.

I thought it was supposed to be midnight last night – I guess not. Maybe they’re still counting the funds because a lot more than they anticipated came in.

Chips it was my honor to donate thru you. You have created such a wonderful for us to come to. I was quite depressed with polictics before BWD started her blog and I found Chips. You two have helped to restore my sanity. And everyone here brings so much. We are the base and we are America! We are fired up and ready to go.

    • July 1, 2011 at 9:53 pm

mtmarilyn, you’re a bundle of loveliness! BWD is my daily inspiration, if I’ve helped at all along with her to restore your sanity (!), then I’ll sleep soundly tonight! Love ya.

I am very sincere. I have always felt the base really didn’t have an outlet for our support. You and BWD have provided it for us. This is fun and we are making a difference. We all should sleep better at night. Thank you. This is fun I am learning my droid. I am at abaseball game on a beautiful evening in Montana. Have a great eve.

Okay, I guess Rachel Maddow is in a better mood with our President. Remember the lady who was featured at one of PBO’s visit’s to IOWA – the lady who owned the restaurant (there is a whole thread on TOD with pics)? Maddow did a segment tonight featuring the lady and President Obama’s visit to her restaurant. Maddow actually invited her to her show to make one of their specialities “magic volcano” whatever that is. And the lady agreed and is on the RM show this evening!!!!

      July 1, 2011 at 10:02 pm

Mind you, I’m still mad as h@ll at RM, but I just find it rather interesting that this week of all weeks she would invite this lady of all people on her show. Are these pundits so obsessed with this President that they would do anything to get his attention?

      July 1, 2011 at 10:33 pm

Hopefruit, I do not know that I trust her. She has huge issues. I remember when she went against Kagan for the Supreme Court, because GG said she was not liberal. Her response was to trash Kagan. Rachel trashed her. Today, she is a hero of the left because of going against , in dramatic fashion, the Robert’s rednecks.

So Rachel, is Elaine Kagan now acceptable? I think it is a mistake to trust her. She is unpredictable. At this point, I will refrain from watching her. I think we should let her suffer for her disgusting behavior. Show us more than one goodie. I feel , at this point, she does not deserve our clicks. It is tough love. Either she supports the president or she doesn’t. If she truly supports the president than we can support her. Right now she is shocked that so many of us trashed her for her ugly comments.

Maybe someone on the this site should watch her show nightly and report on her reporting. Am I crazy, or should we say, prove that you support Obama. If she continues to say more good things about Obama, then I will reconsider watching her again. Good heavens, I should like a radical.

I totally agree Dorothy. And I’m now thinking that this is just another example of her general obsession with this President. She has to compete with him. He visits that lady at her little restaurant in Iowa and he mentions one of her specialties on camera. Rachel has to take it a level above and invite the lady on her show to prepare the said specialty.

        • 26 Dorothy Rissman
          July 2, 2011 at 12:26 am

Indeed she does need to compete. It does seem these far lefties see themselves as superior in terms of intellect. “OH, I am so smart.”
In the future they have to work for our attention or support on a regular basis.

  11. July 1, 2011 at 10:10 pm

I think Rachel got the memo that President Obama supporters take no prisoners when you insult our CIC. Rachel has been on her best behavior this week regarding POTUS… HAPPY BIRTHDAY MALIA…..

    • July 1, 2011 at 10:14 pm

Rachel is too late. She showed her butt too many times. So done with her.

        July 1, 2011 at 10:15 pm

I think she desperately wants the President’s attention and acts out when she feels she didn’t get it. Typical of the PL in general.

Proud, I totally agree with you. Prove it Rachel.

        • July 1, 2011 at 10:53 pm

I’m with you all concerning Rachel, but I would love to hear what she has to say about Michele Bachmann’s husband comments he made about gays.

            July 2, 2011 at 12:28 am

That would be interesting. Let us wait for her to decide who she really stand with. Michelle or PBO. She knows the truth. She is merely posturing for her viewers.

  12. July 1, 2011 at 10:13 pm

Ok, I keep trying to get my laundry done but these folks just keep saying stupid shit. Now that Lynn Forester Rothschild (whatever) the Hillary supporter who switched to McCain after PBO secured the nomination is quoted in a story on GOPolitico saying PBO’s being half-black doesn’t qualify him to be president.

No, b@#$#. His intellect and experience does. Excuse me friends, but I’m so sick of these racists that I could spit.

I hear ya, proud. They are pressing their luck harder and harder in terms of the crap that they try to get away with this President. As I said, many of them have a profoundly disturbing and creepy obsession with this man…

She really chaps my ass! She really has a grandiose opinion of herself. And how do you go from supporting Hillary Clinton to campaigning for McCain/Palin, stumping specifically for Sarah Palin with the bought and sold President of NOW. Money makes cheap whores out of these women.

One of her arguments was that he was arrogant, I guess only white rich people get to wear that hat. IMO, if Rothschild wants to see arrogant she need only look in the mirror.

Hard as it is to listen to these awful comments by these awful people, they are now out in the open and can be seen and understood for what they really are. No more pretending to be noble and good. Their racism and hatred are hanging out in full view. I still believe that a good 2/3 of America does NOT like that kind of behavior and talk. This week Halperin learned exactly what a good part of the country think of that scurrilous talk. We have been silent so long, i think he and MSNBC were shocked….shock treatment is good. And getting this garbage out where people see it means it can be dealt with. As long as it percolates along underground, very little can be done.

I agree. I also think we learned something when we twitter bombed Rachel Maddow, and
then again Mark Halpern, that we have a VOICE. This knowledge gives us power, something we’ve felt we didn’t have. We need to keep it up, show them how informed we are and how we’
re not taking their bullshit anymore.

By the same token, we should also twitter bomb anything the democrats do that is good. When Schumer came out with his comments that the GOP was deliberately sabotaging the economy with their obstruction, we should have twitter bombed him with praise; when Obama says or does anything that’s good for the country, we should twitter bomb him with praise, etc. We have power people, and we should show the Professional Left that who the real progressives are, not just Obamabots, but Obamabots with POWER!

We can get Obama/Biden reelected in 2012. Yes.We.Can.

Chipsticks, I think you should set your target to 10K, then just let it ride until the election. That’s what I did with mine in the past. I set it at 10K, I got over 9K, and was proud even though I didn’t quite meet my target. People will donate over time, then it will be great when TOD fundraiser reaches the 10K mark. We can all have a virtual toast to celebrate our newly re-elected President Obama.
