a quick word

Hi everyone, sorry for going all preachy on you, but after some of the comments on the blog today – which I have since deleted, but should have deleted much earlier (and I sincerely apologize for that) – I really need to clarify a couple of things.

Needless to say, everyone’s entitled to their own views, but there are some views I just don’t want here.

Just as I block people trying to post racist abuse here every day, I will also block anyone trying to post homophobic comments or who attempt to denigrate the gay community in any way. There are endless sites where people can go to express those opinions, this isn’t one of them.

I know there’s huge anger with the Choi wing of the LGBT movement and suspicion about its true agenda – if I shared my true feelings about the guy you would be shellshocked by my vulgarity – but I’d guess every equal rights movement in history had its obnoxious characters. It didn’t make the cause any less just.

And we all know that Choi & Co represent no one but themselves and their attention-seeking egos, they just make the loudest noise – so, naturally, the MSM can’t get enough of them, to the point where you’d imagine they represented the entire movement. They don’t.

Meanwhile, the true voices of the LGBT movement get on with their work. Remember, the Human Rights Campaign (America’s largest civil rights organization working to achieve LGBT equality) endorsed the President for 2012 – “The decision was made based on the President’s demonstrated commitment to LGBT equality and his record of accomplishment, from major legislative victories to critical administrative reforms.”

Choi and his cheerleaders want to create division and ill-will, that’s just how they work, so they paint the President and his supporters as homophobes in an attempt to widen those divisions. It’s their only hope of extending their 15 minutes of fame.

Rachel Maddow’s blatant Choi-like dishonesty last night heightened feelings even more today, but almost all of you refused to take the bait and simply restated your support for LGBT rights. And that’s what really drives Choi & Co crazy, when their own bigotry isn’t mirrored by supporters of President Obama.

So, for what it’s worth, this entirely insignificant speck in cyberspace supports – 100% – gay rights, and no amount of venom spewed by Choi & Co will ever change that.

So, just to repeat, if you want to post homophobic comments, this is most certainly not the place for you.

Thanks everyone.

****

Thank you Proud of Obama 😉

Amen my sister Chips, let the movement blaze on.

Too long coming, now let’s see it grow in strength.

There is NO reason I should be able to marry my husband and the LGBT sisters/brothers cannot do the same.

I am very happy today, thank you NY!!!

Thank you Chipsticks. While I disagree with some of the things coming from the LGBT community, I don’t believe Choi or Maddow represent the entire LGBT community. And I might not agree with the marriage thing, I do believe every human being ought to be treated fair.

Comments I made were to Madcow and the God d*am msm!
The LGBT community has there own set of problems and Madcow and choi denigrate their movement.

    That is all…

Great advice Chips! Chips can you do me a favor please! I recently learnt that the president and First Lady was on OWN behind the scenes episode tonight but I don’t have that channel. I went to the website to look at the video but it’s not shown outside the US. Can you please convert it and post here it for everyone?

P! This was AWESOME!!!!!!! Just what we needed. I love the second clip where they go on break and Miche was like: “hey, everybody’s here.” and the audience chuckles then she reaches across and swats PBO on the leg and repeats what she said and PBO is like: “hey everybody!” I looooooooove, looooooooove, loooooooove these three people! They are so real and good it’s unbelievable! I wish there was more behind the scenes stuff we could watch with them. I love the relationship between Oprah and Miche. At the end of the second clip, Oprah throws her arm around Miche’s shoulder but Miche is too tall for Oprah to sustain the arm around the shoulder thing so O’s hand slides down and Miche holds her hand as they walk and talk! Fricking awesome!!!!

Chipsticks be warned, you are possibly in the news again due to another TOD clip!! Found this news flash as I was going to check my mail.

Chipsticks, I think that another clip from your YouTube Channel has also gone viral. I suspect that this recent activity is from people who watched your “Oh, Baby…., President Obama” and who thereafter clicked onto “Mom Pick Up!!! President Obama”. This is a blog entry you made on TOD many months ago but it seems that it is just now hitting the eyes of some people who are interested in the activities of President Obama and have possibly checked out your http://www.youtube.com/user/TheObamaDiary YouTube Channel as they viewed “Obama, Baby Whisperer”.

The video clip is from an event that happened many months ago (September 2010) in Fairfax Virginia – one of those discussions in a family’s backyard. I think it was also part of West Wing Week and you had it featured on TOD. The clip is featured prominently on theobamadiary You tube channel – you entitled it: “Mom Pick Up!!! President Obama”. “Mom Pick Up!!! President Obama’.
Given that this event occurred many weeks ago and you reported on it then, I was therefore shocked to see that Yahoo is now just picking it up (after so many months ). Yahoo News has even written a brief article dated June 24, 2011 and entitled “Mom, you’ll never believe who we’re with” and has embedded the clip you used.

Here is the link and I think we can push this clip up further : http://news.yahoo.com/s/yblog_upshot/20110624/us_yblog_upshot/mom-youll-never-believe-who-were-with

    Below is the full article
Fri Jun 24, 4:09 pm ET
Mom, you’ll never believe who we’re with
By Mike Krumboltz – Fri Jun 24, 4:09 pm ET
    Mom! Pick up the phone!
In a video that’s going viral, two kids attempt to call their mom from the back of President Obama’s limousine. The president invites the boy and girl to call somebody from his fancy phone and, like good kids, the pair decide to call their Mom.
Alas, nobody’s home! The boy and girl leave a message detailing their surreal situation, and the President chimes in with a jaunty “Bye” at the end of the call. Here’s hoping Mom doesn’t accidentally erase the message…

Ps: Event happened in September and was placed on the White House website. Yet only a few people seem to have seen and reported on it. if we had any doubt that the MSM ignores what President Obama is doing most of the time, then the fact that they are just catching up on this clip adds to evidence to our suspicion. There is no doubt in my mind that what you Chipssticks, BWD and other sites do is extremely important if we are to break through the bias and spread President Obama’s message.

      Hiya Linda ….. gulp.

That YouTube channel is kind of getting out of control!

N sent me this link today:

The writer contacted me through YouTube ….. as did a producer of The Today Show.

I keep telling these people ‘THESE ARE NOT MY CLIPS, THEY APPEAR AT THE END OF WEST WING WEEK VIDEOS’!!!!

It’s very lovely that they’ve gone viral, but I want a quiet life – I certainly don’t want the MSM coming after me! 😆

Hahahaha GGail. I suspect if Chips got close to Matt Lauer she’d drop kick his ass for the lame interviews he’s had with gop’ers where he lets them get away with murder and then tries to portray a hard nosed journalist by asking PBO and MO dumb questions.

Chipsticks you are becoming a celebrity!!!!! I am loving it (said in the accent McLoving from Superbad used 🙂 ) I’m glad more msm types are being exposed to The Obama Diary and I hope they drag their lazy butts to this wonderful website and see what real journalism looks like. In addition to you getting more exposure, President Obama also benefits; because finally maybe they can see him as a human being not some souless orgre.

Hey Chipsticks, for those of us who have greatly valued what you are trying to do which is to create a hate-free zone for those who can disagree with President Obama and each other without being disagreable, we are extremely excited that many more people are giving you the kudos you deserve.

I am aware that this is hard work indeed to be on top of everything and putting this content together – most times I am too tired to comment but I read your EVERYTHING and the TOD family comments!!!

I know that you have mentioned that this is a work of love that comes from the heart and believe me it shows. The honors from non-TOD family members have been a longtime coming!! I for one I am super-excited that the more people are acknowledging what you do and through the links of our favorite website you link to, other Obama-supporting sites will be recognized too – BWD comes first to mind.

A number of us recognize that President Obama is a human being who is bound to make mistakes every so often but that at the core he is an extremely decent , kind, intelligent, and empathatic person who works extremely hard to make a difference in the country and world he leads.

I have watched them for sometime now and it is clear that President Obama the First Family try their best to follow the Sermon on the Mount (I think once President Obama said this is most important scriputure and uses it to guide him). What Team Obama has done, tried to do, intends to do, and the dignity, grace and intelligence of the actions just make me a ever-stronger unapologetic Obama-supporter.

ps, did not think it was possible for me to appreciate and respect you even more but your declaration that you do not want to appear on any TVs just made me revise that thought. Thanks a lot Chipsticks for all you do

              • June 25, 2011 at 11:43 pm

Linda, you make my heart sing – what a completely lovely message.

You know, the YouTube thing makes me laugh – all it has proved is that absolutely nobody in the MSM has watched a West Wing Week video to the end. Seriously. They’re all expressing astonishment at these “never-seen-before” 20, 30 second clips ….. good grief, if I was an MSM reporter the very least I’d do is watch the White House’s video round-up of the week. Seven minutes, or so, that’s all it would take!

Any way, I can promise you, you will never see my ugly mug on TV, or hear my voice on radio, or see my words anywhere but here! A quiet TOD life, that’s all I want.

                Love ya Linda. 😉

                  June 25, 2011 at 11:56 pm

Yes the MSM miss a lot when the could get some of the information directly from the White House website. I suspect that if or when they watch the West Wing Week Clips they do not go up to the end and watch what comes after the White House production team has been acknowledged. I missed only the first one and once I saw that the unguarded moments are usually place at the very end, I patiently wait for the whole week’s entry to play.

I have just read the article from the Atlantic you link to above and I notice that even though you have a date for when the “Kids inside the Beast telephone ” event occured, they still write that those kids were pulled from the street. A quick check on the White House events’ videos for that day would show them clearly that these two kids are from the household that hosted President Obama that day. The call is being made from the host family’s yard!!

                  • June 25, 2011 at 11:59 pm

Linda, I sent a message to the guy with all the info about that video, ie clarifying that, no, the President didn’t pick those kids off the street. I hope he corrects his article, will keep checking.

Thank you so much for protecting this haven Chipsticks. Those comments were vile and denigrating and callously disregarded the struggles the LGBT community contends with everyday. I may not be gay, but as an African-American, I know a little bit about their struggle. It is emotionally damaging when someone judges you by the color of your skin before you even open your mouth and that is what that commenter was doing to the LGBT community. We are diverse people who visit this website, but the one thing we are not is selfish prigs. We are respectful human beings and to say that a gay or straight person chooses to be gay or straight is frankly infantile and juvenile thinking. To try to advance your agenda by quoting scientific literature and psychological psycho, wacko, nut job talking points does a great disservice to our LGBT brothers and sisters who visit this home and do not need to be attacked yet again for their sexual orientation. Yes, it is a SEXUAL ORIENTATION, not a SEXUAL PREFERENCE. You don’t believe me? Look at the poster Chipsticks posted underneath her commentary. “December 21: Led a United Nations measure that restored SEXUAL ORIENTATION to the definition of human rights.” No one should be made to feel worthless or like a second class citizen because of their gender, sex, and race. To all our gay brothers and sisters who were subjected to those egregious statements by that commenter, I apologize and assure you that is not who we are in this slice of heaven. We welcome one and all who are respectful, diverse, humorous 😉 and above all not hateful. So I hope you continue to visit this website and know that we have your backs and Chipsticks above all will make sure you are free to enter this domain without fear or baseless judgemental recriminations.

I agree. The President won in 2008 on a coalition of many diverse groups of people. We all need to come together again and be united. The President will do his best to represent all of us but he does not need an unruly brood of bickering children. He needs a team who will work together like adults.

  22. June 25, 2011 at 11:00 pm

Very wise words. Choi, Avarosis, and now it seems Maddow all want to say vile ridiculous things to get noticed. They want to have pushback because it keeps their issue in the front and center and potentially sucks the oxygen out of the room from other issues of the day such as the debt ceiling hostage taking, Libya etc. They figure if the left is battling each other over their issue than the Dems and Admin might figure they need to step in to end it so it could be refocused on the Republicans.

The best way to deal with somebody so desperate for attention it to ignore them. This would cause Choi to say ever more vial and ridiculous things which would further isolate his hate as more current supporters would see he is off the rails.

If you need to reply to him and his like just keep it brief and non-confrontational – say something like “While I completely support same sex marriage I do not support your language or stagecraft”. Any reaction to him is just giving him what he wants, and taking away from the real activists fighting the good fight on this issue. Don’t get sucked into his game – choose not to play it. That’s exactly what he doesn’t want.

If you are referring to what I believe you are, sexual orientation is biological. End of story. There are no successful programs of sexual reorientation or whatever these godplayers call it. My sisters’s friend, a Gay woman when asked about “why” was she Gay, answered, “because God loves me.”

Me4Obama, we might as well go global. We already have a fine, intellectual, loving, respectful, and caring President of the United States Get ready Chipsticks because we are ready. We love you, Chips and do not forget that.

We should all expect a mix of reasonable, well-intentioned criticism from people who want POTUS to do better and baseless, self-serving BS from the Professional Left. Let us all avoid confusing the two, and engaged thoughtfully with the former and avoid stooping ourselves to the level of that latter group.

Chipsticks, thank you for responding so quickly and gracefully! Nicely done, perfect pitch. I also just wanted to say, great job overall with the blog! It’s an incredible success story…

The issue of same-sex marriage and the equal rights of the members of the LGBT community are very sensitive for most people and bring out emotions that are complicated. Often I try to educate people when they make comments that others may find offensive on this subject. A day will come when this issue does not create the same emotional feelings and hopefully this will be soon rather than later

The worst thing for those who use the divide and conquer strategy for us to work in unison.

At this late/early hour, Sunday afternoon, I thought I should weigh in a little on the debate of gay marriage by simply saying, honestly, and I hope I am not penalized here for my first amendment rights, I do not believe in gay marriage. However, having associates that are gay and liking them as human beings, I would not stand in the way of their civil rights. I was kind of caught off guard by the strong denunciation by Chips of people with differing views until I re-read and sensed that you, Chips, were dismayed by the abusive language by one or another regarding the matter. I concur, it should not have to come to where my strong views would shut out another’s strong views, and I do hope that this never occurs in the future at this site, especially regarding support for President Obama, which is the reason for the site in the first place. We all have something to offer and if we remember what PBO says about hearing the other side, we should be able to come to a consensus of inclusion rather than exclusion. Otherwise, I feel we may be setting ourselves up for over-speculation by nefarious lurkers who would use any disagreements as proof of confusion amongst our fellow supporters. I just wanted to be totally honest, so there is no question of where my loyalty lies, and that is in supporting and defending PBO and getting him re-elected.

EDP4BHO, just saw your comment now, I haven’t been able to drop in too often today.

Just to clarify, I wasn’t denouncing “people with differing views” at all and I wasn’t referring to those with personal reservations about gay marriage. The comments I removed were, in my view, hate-filled and homophobic and I just won’t have that crap here – no more than I’d allow a racist Teabagger post on this blog. People with views like that have lots of places to go, this isn’t one of them.

I honestly don’t think when the President said we should hear the ‘other side’ he was referring to bigots consumed with hate, there’s no point listening to those people at all, they’re just nutjobs.

So, if I began allowing complete ‘freedom of speech’ here then the place would be infested with venom, from the left and right, so you have to draw a line somewhere if the blog is to remain what it set out to be, ie a place where those who support the President and wish him well can get together and ‘talk’ without being abused.

For that reason there has to be a policy of exclusion when it comes to those who just want to spread hate, whoever it is directed at, or who ‘troll’ the place with bigoted comments in an attempt to cause division and smear supporters of the President.

I hope you understand EDP4BHO, needless to say you don’t fall in to any of the above categories. I just want to keep bigotry out of here, that’s all.

Hey Chips, just got back from spending money I don’t have….LOL. Hey, I understand you well. Just felt I needed to clarify my opinion to keep things peaceful here. I don’t fault you at all for your vigilance. I really hoped that no one else would find me intolerant because I don’t feel I am, except for of stupidity. What we all hope to be able to do, I trust, is to be not just tolerant, but accepting of things we don’t agree with, as long as those things don’t harm anyone. Thanks for your “patience of Job” for all the divergence posted here at times. I’m sure I’ve state before, I am only here for the sake of supporting President Obama, for a life online can rob one of valuable person to person time, if taken to extremes, and I can get pretty carried away. Peace 😀
