zzzzzzzz

Remember yesterday’s posts by Steve Benen and James Fallows on how Al Gore’s Rolling Stone essay on climate change was being misrepresented by the media as an ‘Obama is a failure!’ attack by Gore? Yes, he criticized the President on some fronts, but also praised him on several others.

Gore himself wrote: “Even writing an article like this one carries risks; opponents of the president will excerpt the criticism and strip it of context.”

Fallows: “….. of course the immediate press presentation on the essays has been all “OMG Gore attacks Obama!”

Benen: “…..After writing several thousand words on the crisis itself, Gore actually praised President Obama, lauding the fact that the White House “included significant climate-friendly initiatives in the economic stimulus package he presented to Congress during his first month in office….. ” (more here)

Fallows: “The reaction to Gore’s essay illustrates the pattern: from his point of view, it’s one more (earnest) attempt to say ‘Hey, listen up about this problem!’ As conveyed by the press, it’s one more skirmish on the ‘liberals don’t like Obama’ front, and one more illustration of the eyes-glazing-over trivia and details about melting icebergs and scientific disputes.”

So, you gotta love the title of the video posted on YouTube by darling of the Professional Left, Cenk Uygur (you know, the guy who was a Republican right-winger until a few years ago).

Yawn.

Yeah- he’s really disgusting and uninformed. And he’s so unprofessional – he’s like an idiot still thinking he’s living in the college dorms, getting drunk and doing bad things. I don’t know what MSNBC was thinking hiring him. He’s very offensive.

Al gore still should have used better judgement and not use the word “Failure” in any sentence related to PBO. I want him to come on TV and clean up the LIES that he helped engineer. Morning TODers

    • June 23, 2011 at 8:33 am

Yes, Al Gore can clean up his statement, by making It a point to come on TV giving absolute clarity, that’s If his Intentions are good, otherwise, It leaves a nasty taste In People’s mouth.

      • June 23, 2011 at 9:51 am

I agree Gore need to show up on tv and clean up his mess. He knows how the media is, but he wrote his trash anyway. I’m not letting Gore off the hook here. There is always a way to handle things without feeding the frenzy of those loud mouth lying backstabbing media.

BTW…ISN’T GORE THE ONE WHO SPENDS $3,OOO PER MONTH ON HIS ELECTRIC BILL…NOT WHAT I WOULD CALL CONSERVING ENERGY BY ANY MEANS!

In the meantime, Chips Oh, baby YouTube video has topped the 800,000 mark — numbers that the drivel put out by the Republican turned PL will never see.

He used to post over at gos and would write factless stuff that he pulled out of his tumba and bail out. They were literally stink bombs he threw out and left the room instead of staying to defend his nonesense. Those of us that commenter there never did let him get away with his crap. He is such an opportunist. You have to wonder who watches his show.

Thank you Sue…yours wisdom and prayers has helped daily. I often feel I don’t know how to pray, so I just talk to GOD just like I talk to any living being and both of my parents who have transitioned, but you (as do other here at TOD) have such a way of “using your words” (this is what my wise 5 year old friend says) to capture the moment, the thought, the feeling, etc…I love your spirit…I thank GOD for sharing you with us at this amazing time in history. Sue be well and stay strong!

So Gore knew that Obama haters will circle in on his word that ‘the president has failed in climate change’, but he went on to say it anyway and now feels his words were taken out of context. Why am I not buying this? He sound just like choi’s ‘Obama has failed on gay right’ both wanted media attention and they got it.

theo67, I think it was you who said so simply, that Gore said what he said, knowing that he would get attention for himself and his “cause” (or something to that effect). If you didn’t say it, it sound like something you would say…I love reading your very thought out, reasonable and informative comments. Thank you.

I’m so disappointed and aghast at MSNBC giving him a platform. I tried watching his very first show and he lost me from there b/c his opening segment was all about bashing Obama. I told myself I don’t need the aggro, switched the channel and have never bothered to watch him again b/c he’s full of hot air.

Every time folk like Al Gore starts to feel neglected they allow their jealousy to over rule their common sense. Gore is probably having feelings of resentment. His ego is suffering. POTUS is working hard for all of the people.

It would be foolish for any Democrat to think that someone other than our President would be a better choice. If you are feeling deprived just think how you would feel if the Repubs should make majority gains. They are showing us what they will do. Remember the consequence of the 2010 elections.

I can’t help but notice how big he is becoming physically, like Gov. Christie it prompts thoughts of avarice and greed in me. I do not value his opinions, nor trust his intentions.

Is it me, or did some folks mis-read this post because of the graphic? Gore doesn’t believe Obama is a “failure” on climate change, only that there have been a few failures but some successes as well. Stink Ugh!-yur is trying to spin the story as Gore saying “Obama is a Failure.” Typical Stink.
