too funny

WSJ: A Republican campaign veteran tells us that Texas Governor Rick Perry has decided to run for President, though the official word from Team Perry is still a definite maybe.

I do not believe he will run. How does he explain seceding from the country for which he wants to be President? It has also been reported he will have to address rumors he is gay. However, if he does I see similarities with Fred Thompson’s run in 2008. Maybe he will end up selling reverse mortages on TV.

I say good. Let the Repubs self-destruct and force Romney and Huntsman to the far right while losing moderates and indies.

I live in Texas and Rick Perry has no chance of winning the presidency. I think he does have a decent shot of winning the primary. Here is a link to Rachel Maddow destroying Perry on the economy: http://burntorangereport.com/diary/11221/rachel-maddow-destroys-perry-on-his-failed-economic-record

I love this site! I have been reading for months but this is my first comment.

I saw Rachel destroy his so-called jobs/economy record. I think it need to be repeated over and over. BTW, welcome to the site Logan. This is one of my favorites along with BWD and CR’s Sites. I have relatives living in Texas.

Welcome and thanks for sharing your thoughts Logan. I too took some time before I actually joined in the TOD discussions. I love the atmosphere here because people are respectful, hopeful, and kind. Chipsticks does an outstanding job of moderating. Hope to read much more from you.

Welcome Logan. I’m glad you finally decided to add your voice to the many brilliant voices in this haven. I too live in Texas and there is no way in heck Rick Perry would ever win the Presidency. A huge number of people in Texas dislike him. He only defeated Bill White by about 5%-9%. It was the closest gubernatorial election in a while. As more Latinos migrate to Texas and come of voting age, I firmly believe that Texas will one day turn blue for Gubernatorial and Presidential elections at least. A recent poll showed PBO at a 51% approval rating and as more people are exposed to the vile underhand dealings of Perry the more he’ll sink like a stone. His record on education, women’s rights, minority rights, sex education and finance are abhorrent to say the least. So run! Rick run! It’ll please my heart when he’s kicked out forcefully from the Governor’s mansion.

Hope you comment more in the future Logan. We need more enlightened comments like yours and many others to join the fold.

I really, really hope he does run because I think it would instantly become Perry vs Romney, with all others fading into the distant background. Also Perry sounds like, and has the same mannerisms as George W. Bush, so it would allow for a stark reminder of the Bush years.

Alas, I don’t believe he will either. Last chance I see for somebody getting in will be July 4th. End of would probably be my cut off, but i could see a Perry announcing on the 4th.

I think he works hard at copying George Bush. I saw clips of him from their meeting last weekend, and he even tries to do the Bush facial ticks. Yikes!!

He may have company throwing his hat in the ring. Pataki is thinking about jumping in, too.

Good grief. Enough already. They all have the same lousy bush/reagan economic policies. They would all be terrible for the country and would thwart any economic recovery.

That’s a good point about sounding like Bush – that would help to keep the Bush curse alive so that Jeb wouldn’t sail on in during the 2016 election. I hope Perry runs – it will help to split up the vote even further and move the Repubs even more to the crazy right. He’s an absolute loser – thinks he can run after threatening to secede from the Union and then using Stimulus money to balance his budget after bashing the Stimulus. Another right wing hypocrite signing up for duty.

NO MORE TEXAS GOVERNORS RUNNNING TO BE PRESIDENT!!! One was too much. My son and daughter-in-law live in Texas, and have NO use for Perry. His popularity is not as high in Texas as he wants it to be.
