Keith Olbermann …. whose resurrected show Countdown is an echo chamber of one-sided thought with no room for debate and no tolerance for any divergence of opinion ….. ended his first program on the Current TV network with some singularly unsolicited instructions (not advice, but instructions, mind you) of what exactly the President should do regarding Afghanistan.
…I was born during Eisenhower’s first Administration. I barely remember Kennedy, and came of age during Nixon and Watergate. In all that time, I can never remember any President previously getting so much unsolicited advice from all quarters, nor can I ever remember any President receiving such hateful and spiteful gratuitous criticism and petulant behaviour from people who are supposed to be from his side of the political equation.
Before every major statement or speech, up pop various and sundry professionally Leftish talking heads, first, to tell us all what the President SHOULD say in his address; then after the speech, itself, they inhabit our screens, the very embodiment of moral and righteous consternation, to tell us why and how the President is wrong, what he should have said and, just basically, what a very bad, weak and naughty boy he has been. The boy bit is never openly stated, but it is just as much implied as if Joe Wilson, himself, had been issuing the criticism.
….From Olbermann and his crony, Michael Moore, on down, we’re presented with a series of armchair quarterbacks, who would always do a better job than this President…
… what’s so infuriating to Keith (and to Miss Jane and Marse Cenk and Miss Joan and all the rest) is the fact that, damn it, this President SHOULD be awfully sorry that he hasn’t done anything they reckon he’s said he’d do but carries on doing what he thinks is best and isn’t sorry at all. You know, I have been studying the news. Chris Wallace made a statement that stuck. He said, that fox viewers finally have there voice heard!
So now, I monitor the pl, and it seems that the pl is all about giving firebaggers and pumas a voice.
And CNN is all about giving tea baggers a voice.
So, where the fuck is our voice on tv?
That’s a damn good question, Jovie. My take is no one wants to hear our voice, because both the teabaggers and the PL think the country made a mistake electing a black president, who has the audacity to act as President, instead of bowing to all their demands.
I was born during Truman’s presidency, I know very little, in terms of direct experience, of the Eisenhower presidency, I was teenager in High School during JFK’s-LBJ’s presidency and started college during the last year of LBJ. Basically, my conscious experience with presidents began with JFK. Like Marianna76, I don’t “remember any President previously getting so much unsolicited advice from all quarters, nor can I ever remember any President receiving such hateful and spiteful gratuitous criticism and petulant behaviour from people who are supposed to be from his side of the political equation.” This is indeed a very astute observation by Marianna 76, which, I am sure resonates with some of us who a bit older. It seems to me that both the left and the right think that they know better than the President, and since they were so kind to allow him to be President, he needs to behave like a grateful boy instead of trying to act like a mature adult who was elected President of the United States. I must say the MSM exhibits the same attitude. While they cowered before George W. Bush, they are just as disrespectful and petulant when it comes to President Obama.

Keith used to be someone I respected for the most part. Then I realized he seemed to need to take things a bit far. Often he was out there with visceral feelings, but did not have quite enough facts or logic lined up. Many words occurred. Not much meaning.
Truth is, Michael Moore has not done as much to help Michigan as President Obama. Take the auto company bailouts for example, plus the stimulus. Michael Moore really likes to talk about Obama’s blind spots, but can’t see past the blobs in his eyes over his own. He ought to sit down, calm down, and read everything this President has done since he came into office, including this time when his administration has been plagued by the congress bequeathed by tea baggers. Michael Moore is better than he acts. The President is WAY better than he gets credit for, especially from Moore–who has begun to tire me.
I applaud you. Your diary entry indicates you understand how very hard foreign policy can be, especially in a world of snakes like we see in Afghanistan and Pakistan where you can’t tell whether the man you deal with in government is your friend or aiding your foe.

The author of the article is absolutely right. Never has a President had so many “mini-advisors” with their teeth gnashing, unsolicited opinons and “expert” tips. They demand that he listen to them and accomplish the one million and one things they deem important in one second. They have no idea what it is to lead a nation facing so many crises on multitudes of planes. Their main job is to be carnival barkers yelling nonsensical crap. The biggest carnval barker is Jon Stewart who just jumped on the bash Obama’s Afghan policy speech; with sarcastic zingers and what he calls jokes. He is the biggest douche b/c he is smarter than what he is portraying. He is pandering to the rightwingers and his crazy gang of professional left nutjobs and is doing his best to try and denigrate President Obama. With his day in day out trashing of President Obama, he is trying to corral young voters into thinking this President hasn’t fought valiantly for everyone and their cause. This is a sad commentary of them, because their paycheck is carried to the bank each week, day, or whenever on the backs of the middle-class of the nation who faithful go into work(if possible) each day: clean their offices, wash their cars, serve up their expensive gourmet meals, take care of their children, care for their parents(in some cases) clean the hospital rooms where they go to get treatment, take their phone calls to plan a trip(if they are not flying on their private jets), make sure there is fuel in the right places for them to fill the gas tanks for their expensive cars, clean the restrooms where that they use in their studios, take care of their yards, clean their boats, yachts, clean the fancy restaurants floors way after they have scuffed the floors with their 800-2000dollars pair of shoes, clean the dry cleaners where they drop or have someone to drop off their shirts, ties, dresses, etc., after they have sat on tv for hours spewing all type of bitterness about the President. Then they have the nerves to throw a few crumbs daily under the table at us? Who do they think they are fooling? I just would like to just see one of these little people spend just one hour in the Oval Office and try to run this countey and also talk to the leaders all over the world with a decent and cohert conversation about things that really matter to people who are really hurting. Guess what people, THEY COULD NOT LAST as long as just one of their commericials. So they really need to SHUT the Heck Up. We are tired of these low information, nondisguted eating small minded hate on the President. We care about our President and we DO care about the brothers and sisters and their kids who have no more car, no more food in the pantry, or not even a pantry anymore because they do not have the ONE and only home that they had. So they need to stop making money off of our middle class because it is NO longer a laughing matter to us. I cry because I see people in my neighborhood who are not walking with their children anymore because they are trying to find another job to make ends meet because they are only given 4 hours now instead of a full day. I cry because I no longer see children being able to go and get the necessary checkups because the medical bills are so far gone that their parents just cannot afford to take a chance that they will be able to pay them now. This is not tiem for the likes of these people to continue to bash their President when he is trying to try to make things better with the “little” help that he is getting from the opposition and even his own party. So we are MAH with the likes of KO and MM and RM, and Tweety (and all the rest) when they whin all day, and still claim that they love this nation and all of the other crap..well love the people who are hurting now in this nation. Afterall, we are they people. And that is the nation. Fair opportunity for all. Stop beating up on the very people who give you alls life a pleasant goodmorning. I am still trying to calm myself and my pressure, but too many of you all, especially those who gave up semesters of studying for your degrees to get the hard work done to get our President elected, and we are not going to allow those precious hours of time from ALL of you who sacrificed so much to be derail by these distractors. I know that what got me started tonight comes from my readings for the evening. One book is entitle: ” A Price of Admission “,Daniel Golden. I had just read a section speaking about the fact that( the very people who were on a certain program this week bashing the President) some well known people non-currently and currently are being admitted to great schools because of name recognition and legacy recongnition etc., so I just had enough. After being in office for almost three years, the MSM continues to treats every speech as if it were a sporting event. Some cable and network shows even post countdown clocks. I have joked that I wouldn’t be surprised if the pundits started holding up cards with a number rating like they do at the Olympics.
