Sorry, but this is the coverage Huntsman wanted with the launch. He’s going for the quirky nonthreatening guy because people will like that about him. This is “One tough nerd” on a national scale. Rachel fell for it hook, line and sinker. He has a very professional and battle tested campaign team – McCains largely from both 2000 and 2008, and Rick Snyders ad man from his Michigan Governors race (which he won with large cross over appeal).

If Dems want to attack this guy – do it as “Just another Republican, with draconian Republican ideas” and not the quirky weird guy that is very likable in a quirky weird way.

I wouldn’t eve be surprised if the spelling “mistake” was on purpose, as was all the other “mistakes” of the day.

    • June 22, 2011 at 6:43 pm

Me thinks he is way over rated!

      • June 22, 2011 at 7:21 pm

Ditto. The Republicans love this kind of imagery without substance stuff, and people need to call it out for what it is. Imagine if PBO had rolled out his campaign with the number of mistakes this guy came with yesterday, he would have been laughed out of town as not ready for prime time. I doubt if people would have been looking at him as anything else but.

You are right. He is way overrated.

McCain’s campaign team from 2000/2008? We all saw how (un)successful McCain was both times, the first being shellacked by Bush in the primaries, and the second being shellacked by Obama in the general election.

Even if Huntsman manages to win the nomination, he’ll have to nominate a right winger to appeal to the Republican base, which means either Palin, Bachmann, Ron Paul, or any one of the crazy right wingers. I don’t perceive Huntsman as big of a threat as many Democrats say he is. The man isn’t charismatic at all, all you have to do is look at the speech he gave for Sarah Palin and ask yourself, do I see this guy inspiring millions to vote for him?

And I hear that Rachel followed up this weirdly overdone mocking by having some random bought and paid for Huntsman loyalist Mormon journalist from Utah who went on to rave about the goodness that is Huntsman…

You guys have to be very wary of Rachel and MSNBC…

There is an attempt to sell this fella as a harmless white version of President Obama and as a worthy alternative to disgruntled ‘liberals’…

Watch out guys, you are being played…

Yes, she did. And that’s why I don’t trust her. The guy was raving about Huntsman. I do not trust the media where Huntsman is concerned. And like you said, they are trying push Hunstman to appeal to LIBERAL and MODERATE voters who like everything about Obama except his skin color.

        • June 22, 2011 at 7:27 pm

          Hopefruit,
It’s the no labor group that loves huntsman. This elitist DC group of washington insiders are pushing there meme on the media.

And they all hate the president.

His disloyalty will do him in,especially if he starts bashing President Obama after representing him as Ambassador for the last two years. Not good.

I don’t think that is the kind of start he wanted at all. Mics and generators don’t go off because of real planning. Anyone who planned his launch in front of the Statue of Liberty wanted it to go well. He wanted it to be dramatic and patriotic. It was truly pathetic. He’s not quirky, he’s the quitter son of a billionaire, and yes he is draconian in outlook and plans. This needs to be publicized constantly.

    • 18 utaustinliberal
      June 22, 2011 at 7:05 pm

He really is draconian and tries to fool the msm and everyone else with his non threatening I’m a nice guy who doesn’t hate the President just disagrees with policies and I think I would be a better President act. Anyone who endorses Ryan’s Kill Medicare bill isn’t nice but an extreme right winger. He has no real principles. He dropped out of high school to be in a rock band which is cool but then b/c of his daddy’s money he got into college in Utah without a high school diploma/ GED but through some “equivalency program” He took the Ambassadorship in China so the family business could shore up more contacts with China and send more jobs overseas as he has done in India. He also did business with Tehran in Iran. The people who are building their own uranium enriched nuclear weapons. Then in 2010 when he began considering a run for President, they cut off business ties with Iran. This is someone who wants to be President of the United States. He’s such a jackass.

      • June 22, 2011 at 7:20 pm

You are correct on every front. He is even more dangerous than the others because he’s trying to sell himself as Mr. Nice. He took the job in China just so he could cut deals for the family business not to serve the president. Remember when he was photographed in China in some sort of market wearing a black leather jacket as if he was trying to go unnoticed? There was something fishy about that. There’s something that just smells about this guy.

I don’t believe at all this was done on purpose but I don’t think it make much of a difference. Rachel has it right about the beltway take on him and how they will portray him. Very Funny!

      That’s so lovely Fred…
Do you think there’s a video of that somewhere…

I SAW SOME OF THAT ON CNN TONITE…AND OUR FIRST LADY’S SPEECH WAS ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL…’QUEENLY’ I MUST SAY!…OH ‘YES WE CAN’ SHE SAID….WONDER WHERE SHE GOT THAT?….LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!

    • June 22, 2011 at 7:27 pm

Great. I don’t do network news but my husband called me when Brian Williams started talking about FLOTUS, but from what I saw, he simply said she was there and showed no footage. I left the room and my husband called me when they did the teaser for CBS, I told him to tell me all about it beause I was sure it was going to be the same. But to my surprise they did a good job. I was pleased.

Yes, Scott Pelley on CBS Evening news did cover the First Lady’s speech in Soweto, and gave some historical context for it too. I have been watching CBS news since Pelley took over. So far, it has been good. He brings the news the “old fashioned” way, objective and clear. Much less opinion than BriWi or DiSaw. Pelley always presents international news. BriWi had reached the place where it was all about him….Yes, I’m of the generation that still likes an evening news broadcast. It’s part of our routine.

The funny thing is that when I saw the address and phone number yesterday on this site….I really thought it was a joke…until Rachel said something about it last night…..

  12. June 22, 2011 at 7:16 pm

I think you guys already know what I think of Huntsman. Absolutely nothing.

  13. June 22, 2011 at 7:21 pm

I will be watching the President on the White House site tonight. Do not want to hear Rachel, Ed or any other msm idiot’s voice tonight.

Exactly. They will be lining up with their silly “analysis” with their usual ignorant pundits. The President is already way ahead of all of them. After all, he got Bin Laden without any of their “advice” thank you very much.

And regardless of what he says, they already got there talking points from Koch city!

I try never to wath the President live. I will follow everyone here and at BWD and then later tonight watch him online. Since the primaries, I am always so nervous.

Joan is the writer, her sister the romance novelist. Either Jovie is calling out Joan Walsh and just wrote Collins in error, or she’s calling out someone being as dramatic as Joan Collins. I suspect it’s Joan Walsh on Hardball.

        • June 22, 2011 at 7:39 pm

Yes! Joan Walsh! Thank you. Lol! She was blaming the president for no climate change bill and tweedy set her straight!

Want proof that Rachel fell for it completey –

“It gets people talking,” Huntsman said. “You throw up a corny commercial and it gets people talking and I think we’ve achieved the intended purpose. And here we are a day into it and feeling pretty good about ourselves.”

  18. June 22, 2011 at 7:41 pm

What Huntsman is saying about the a today-
“It gets people talking,” Huntsman said. “You throw up a corny commercial and it gets people talking and I think we’ve achieved the intended purpose. And here we are a day into it and feeling pretty good about ourselves.”

    Hook, line and sinker Rachel.

The nutroots will push this guy because they figure he is an acceptabe Republican that will be moerate enough not to destroy the country an pull the “overton window” to the left by calling Huntsman a Republican, so they could pull the party right – at least that’s what they’ll believe, which is why PL loons like Matthews, Cenk, and especially Rachel will love them some Jon Huntsman.

    • June 22, 2011 at 7:49 pm

Only problem is he endorsed the Ryan plan. That alone will stop any body from the far left from voting for him!

But not pumas. They will vote for him out of spite, like lady Rothschild!

        That’s the ‘only’ problem…

I’m listening to all the so-called journalists calling for a total drawdown in Afghanistan because of money. And, all the national security people (the serious ones) are supporting a gradual and careful drawdown.

I also listened to several panels on c-span talk about the successes in Afghanistan. Some were NGOs and some were military. Many regional governors are now in control and Afghan security forces and police have secured these areas. Also, some of the Taliban are interacting and cooperating with the new government. It will be hundreds of years before they are modern, but if you listen to the media, you have no idea what’s going on in the world.

That Lynn de Rothschild woman was on Fox today talking about how she raised over 1 million dollars for Huntsman.

    • June 22, 2011 at 11:06 pm

Who cares what she raised for Huntsman. How much did she raise for Hillary? These rich people can’t stand the fact that they can’t tell Obama what to do.

    • 62 Sue in Minnesota
      June 22, 2011 at 11:16 pm

Well she travels in the richest circles…..I believe the de Rothschild’s are among the wealthiest in the world. So in perspective 1,000,000.00 is chump change, you’ld think she would have more pull than that. And on that note I am off to donate to our Presidents campaign chest. I wish the love attached to it could grow the donation….but I know it all adds up.

When the msm and repubs kept bitching about PBO being the first candidate to ever raise $1 billion and that it was unfair to other repub candidates, I vowed I would do everything in my power to make sure he raises more than $1 billion so that it burns them up even more. So right on Sue… keep up the donations. 🙂
