night everyone

****

Thursday – The First Lady’s schedule

Mrs. Obama begins the day in Cape Town, thanking United States Consulate employees and their families for their service.

The First Lady then visits Robben Island where former President Nelson Mandela was held for 18 of his 27 imprisoned years.

Mrs. Obama has invited students from area schools for a day-long university “immersion experience” at the University of Cape Town. The students are attending a full day of activities at the University, concluding with remarks delivered by the First Lady.

Mrs. Obama completes her day with a visit to the Cape Town Soccer Stadium. There she will meet with Archbishop Desmond Tutu and organizations dedicated to combating HIV/AIDS in South Africa.

After the meeting, Mrs. Obama will join girls and boys from the Cape Town area, including its townships, on the soccer field for activities and drills.

Thanks so much for the awesome coverage Ms. Chips, from South Africa to Washington, it was amazing! Thanks so much for all the hard work and for proving a great space for all Obamabots to collaborate, communicate, advocate, yell, scream, shout and everything in between. Looking forward to boarding Air Chips again tomorrow on another great journey around the world, sweet dreams 😉

Oh the mini clip of he and FLOTUS is soooo sweet. The look he gives her is muy caliente! Those two have a hot and heavy passion tempered with a deep abiding love. May we who have not found that (or are not currently looking b/c we’re freaking busy with summer school…lol) be blessed in the future with our very own Barack Obamas and Michelle Obamas. Amen.

Are these the DNC fundraisers in NY the ones that Obama was rumored to be announcing his support for gay marriage? I don’t buy the rumors but just wanted to know if we can expect some PL pouting tomorrow nite.

PS – Sorry for bad typing. Broke wrist today and typin w/1 hand.

    Good nite All!

    • June 22, 2011 at 10:13 pm

Rachel and choi heard that the gay community was donating to the president, since then they have been freaking out!

Oh Askew, you poor thing! Your one-hand typing is impressive 😉 Get better soon.

askew hope your wrist heals and you’re not in too much pain. Have a wonderful evening!

    • June 22, 2011 at 11:16 pm

I believe so. Maybe if NY gets the vote necessary to approve same sex marriage tomorrow before the fundraisers something special could happen. However if there is more delays, I don’t think President Obama would wade in and possibly send Republicans back to their corner.

my goodness, what a schedule! PBO and FLOTUS will barely have time to eat. The President’s schedule looks especially exhausting. May God grant them strength and keep them safe.

I like the little clip of the Obamas flirting with each other; so cute! Michelle better hurry home before one of the Africans try to add her to his harem of wives (Zuma et al); LOL!

Good night Chips and TOD family; enjoyed the comments throughout the day. Our country is in good hands; rest well everyone.

If this is a repost , sorry I just saw this. This is a victory on so many different levels.

  10. June 22, 2011 at 10:36 pm

Nite, nite everyone. What a day Chips. We saw your YouTube video with PBO calming effects on the baby girl skyrocket to more that 600,000 views, pleasantly. And then we had to listen to the PL, Republicans and the pundits lose their collective minds. YOU know POTUS must be doing something right when all the villagers go nuts.

    Wow.

Then of course we had a few stories out there about the media newest darling Jon Huntsman, aka, flip flopper, starting with one where he indicates that when he said PBO was remarkable, he was actually talking about himself, then there was a link attached here by Jovie, a story in which he states that he supported Cap and Trade because everybody was doing it at the time. I guess if everybody was jumping off a cliff, he would have too. I don’t usually read the comments on stories, but of the 11 comments attached to that artile at the time, none of there were kind to him. They called him everthing from a Democratic plant to a flip flopper.

I anxiously await more photos of FlOTUS and the kids and her mother tomorrow. Thanks again, Chips.

  11. June 22, 2011 at 10:38 pm

I love that clip of Michelle and Barack . He has a busy schedule tomorrow. And so does the First Lady in S. Africa. May the good Lord continue to watch over them and keep them safe.

I’ve watched Michelle’s speech three times already – it’s one of the best I’ve heard. Very inspirational. It’s such a shame that many in this country don’t recognize what a gift these two human beings are. Simply awesome.

I just watched the speech. Sometimes we seem to be surrounded by so much negativity it is easy to forget how much good there is in the world. This couple was catapulted to the top of the world stage because of their hard work, determination and sheer goodness. They simply refuse to be dragged down to the level of their detractors. They simply hold up their heads and set the example.
The young women who Michelle was speaking to have overcome such hardships and are so brave and determined and still seem so joyful and strong. They are quite amazing. It’s humbling to witness such strength and courage.

    Hi Chipsticks,

Did you see these quotes from Michelle?

    http://mg.co.za/article/2011-06-22-michelle-obama-on-dating-exercise-and-keeping-it-real

“”How do you get Barack to believe he’s in charge?”

You had to forgive the cheeky question. The person asking it, popular radio personality Anele Mdoda, had been waiting in ridiculously high heels in one spot for over an hour for the world’s favourite first lady to arrive for a photo opportunity, along with 74 other young African women chosen by their US embassies.

Michelle Obama, glowing with enthusiasm, immediately burst into laughter.

“A good man is happy with a strong woman,” she said, before launching into a girly chat about the type of men we should let into our lives.

“That’s why I fell in love with Barack. I met him way before he was president and he was just so comfortable with himself and he accepted me with all my … stuff.”

I can’t seem to find any other articles or transcripts of this interview/conversation the First Lady had. I’d love to see the complete transcript!

I must say that I just cannot express how much I appreciate this pragmatic progressive network of blogs for always keeping it real and giving us readership such an escape from a media bubble in which POTUS does nothing right, and his accomplishments can always be credited to some random person. That baby video really made my day, and I daresay it also made the day of all of the people who have now seen it (800k+ views, WOW). I’ve been MIA and will continue to be a little MIA this summer, and these blogs are such a wonderful refreshment after very long work days. Thanks everyone!

Did we actually read the article because I re-read it and look how this writer is talking about the dream act.
Late last year, the so-called DREAM Act which would give legal residency status to millions of illegal aliens who attend college or join the military was defeated in the Senate.

Every major poll has shown that the American people are overwhelmingly opposed to the DREAM Act as well as to any other form of amnesty.

However, with Obama’s poll numbers plummeting, this use of his executive powers is seen as an obvious ploy to solidify the Latino vote in the 2012 presidential election
