She really is gorgeous and her beauty is more than skin deep. I’m glad they’re visiting all these relevant historical places and at the same time encouraging young people everywhere to get an education and always reach back to make their communities a better place.

Yes and this is what Mrs O told the young women there: “I want my daughters to be like you: strong, beautiful and hard-working.”
      Now that’s a huge compliment!!!!

They have made me so proud from the minute they walk into that Oval Office. I know the S. Africa people are falling in love with the Obama family like we have. Keep up the great work Chipsticks .

Well the senate actually confirmed a judge today:

    http://thehill.com/blogs/floor-action/senate/167615-senate-confirms-simon-for-oregon-judgeship

That makes 84 judges confirmed under this administration. At this time in there presidency, both bush and Clinton had 144 judges confirmed(and they were complaining)!

Also, panetta to be confirmed as secede, today!

Wow, what a shocker. 1 more judge confirmed. So much for Reid’s gentleman’s agreement with McDonnell on getting more nominations confirmed. It’s not like the Senate is passing any real legislation. Why can’t they get more people confirmed?

  13. June 21, 2011 at 2:29 pm

Well, the SCOTUS ruled yesterday that the EPA has the right to enforce greenhouse gas rules against powerplants… Yay!

    • 22 StR
      June 21, 2011 at 2:40 pm

Great news. This will force the coal state obstructionists (on both sides) to have to come to the table and negotiate a all encompassing energy/climate bill. Any deal they cut would likely be less stringent than the EPA rulings now. Obstruction is no longer a viable tactic for coal staters.

      • June 21, 2011 at 2:53 pm

Coal plants are closing all over the place, the latest one is in San Antonio.
Today Lisa Jackson said more rules by November, on mercury releases from coal plants. EPA wants comments and questions answered first.
So, whatever you hear from green groups and the msm, this administration is taking on big coal. Which is why bachman wants it closed!

Hey Ms. Chips, is it just me or is the site slightly off centered? My screen is far to the right so when you come to the obama diary, the Th of the The isn’t viewable. Everything is to the right and off my screen so even as I’m typing, the first few word that i typed, i can’t see. It just happened because I’ve been on the site for the past thre hours and it was just in the past hour that this happened. hm

Can you imagine?? Too funny. I remember Candidate Obama, when they were messing with Michelle. He was NOT HAVIN’ IT. Said something like ‘They need to leave my wife alone’ He gave that steely eyed look that he has, and then whipped out that megawatt, million dollar smile, as if to say “Go ahead, keep messing with her, and see how quick I will kick ALL of your a@#%^$!!!”

I have no doubt in my mind, that he would whup tail clear across the world, if anybody messes with his girls. SERIOUSLY. Jacob Zuma wouldn’t know WHAT hit him… 8)

    • June 21, 2011 at 4:11 pm

No way that would happen P. First of all Michelle wouldn’t be anyone’s sixth, if she can’t be your number one, then forget it. Second of all, we have always talked of POTUS coolness, Mr Zuma wwould see him lose that coolness. And third, Michelle knows what a special man she has. Barack knows what a special woman he has. So not a chance in hell, Mr. Zuma.

      • 75 utaustinliberal
        June 21, 2011 at 8:10 pm

oh she’s this actress who made it big on the Transformers movies franchise and started running her mouth and biting the hand that fed her. She compared the director of the movies to Hitler and the Nazis. She had already said lousy things about him before, and he let it slide, but this was just too much. Finally Steven Spielberg the head producer and head honcho of the franchises told Michael Bay to fire her as she was becoming a nuisiance so they replaced her with Rose Huntington Whitely(?) for the third installment of the franchise. So far the other movies Megan Fox has done since, have been flops.

The chief political adviser to Crook Gov. Rick Scott of Florida resigned today. Political adviser—-hahahaha—-such a splendid job she’s done—-Scott’s approvals are in the 20’s. So she’s heading back to “spend more time with her family” in Tennessee. Yesterday Scott “reassigned” his chief of staff to Dept. of Veterans’ Affairs. The reign of the Medicare Fraudster is a mess.

Hey Rita, thanks for the link to the article it was very insightful. The PL forever complain that PBO isn’t progressive or liberal enough. He never ran as a radical out of touch liberal. He always represented himself as a center-left realist and pragmatist. His way of achieving goals will advance this country five, ten, thirty years from now. The PL’s way of doing things is always impulsive and never with an end goal in sight. They complain about EVERYTHING. The sky isn’t blue; President Obama paints it blue, they complain it’s not blue enough. The sun isn’t out, PBO makes the sun come out they complain he didn’t do it fast enough. I’m glad the TIME reporter Grunwald, set them straight. He has accomplished a LOT. The netroots people are bloggers who are paid to blog, Barack Obama is a President elected to lead and advance a nation and he’s been doing a damn fine job of it.

    • June 21, 2011 at 6:43 pm

These pictures of the First Lady in South Africa, at the Apartheid Museum (Museum!), and of Nelson Mandela make me think back to being in college and how we all went down to the Bank of America and withdrew our little $5 bank accounts in what seemed like the most futile effort ever to protest US corporate investment in the apartheid regime of South Africa. And now here we are. Now matter what those swines of Republicans manage to take away from us now or in the future, they can’t take away what we have achieved. So, so heartwarming.

  38. June 22, 2011 at 12:14 am

I read recently that when Reagan was implementing his rightward policies, his party and supporters praised everything he did. It was good, it was sound policy, it was masterful. Whatever he did they praised it.

The American public began to accept that this rightward move must be for the good of all, they kept hearing it over and over again. The result was a country making a long and wide swing to the right.

Progressives have never been disciplined enough to adopt this tactic. If they had learned from the success of the republican party, they would

    • June 22, 2011 at 12:19 am

that article it is very true from swampland.com

    • 104 theo67
      June 22, 2011 at 12:23 am

But, I still question why the American public can’t see the reality in their lowered living standards and uneducated children. I mean, for heaven’s sake, a 59 year old man robbed a bank for a dollar in order to get health care in PRISON! In America! That tells you something, without needing a pundit or politician to tell you how to interpret it. I don’t know why people continue to vote against their own interests, and believe the lies they are being told over and over. Every time I hear someone say that the President will be in trouble if the economy doesn’t improve, I just want to scream. Do people really think that the Republicans have a plan to heal the economy? Is it any different than the plan that broke the economy? And what makes them think that – when reality says something different? People have to wake up, and some have to grow up.

      • June 22, 2011 at 3:13 am

So true theo67. Did you see the Lawrence O’Donnell show where Senator Barbara Boxer talked about the Republicans killing a job bill that she had introduce in the Senate. That is how they have played ball since Obama became President. Do everything to stop, slow down, the growth of this economy. They don’t care about the middle class or poor.
