Yes, thanks so much for posting this Chipsticks. I just listened to the one that I received from our First Lady, and was hoping that someone would like it. Do not know how to link those. But I will soon learn. I thank Alex and his beautiful children. Another big hug for another father who is looking at the longterm plan while being grateful in the present season of his life.
Have anyone notice how the media have been saying that the Obama supporters is not as excited as they were in 2008. What they don’t understand, is I might not be jumping up and down, yelling at the top of my lungs, but I still support this President 100%.
That’s to discourage those who stand on the sidelines. But we have people like Alex (video above) and us who are FIRED UP! and IN! Don’t listen and don’t let them keep us from bringing others along with us on this long journey.
I like to think we are more action oriented than talk. Let’s build a quiet tsunami……will hit them were it counts, at the election box.
The media is not going to accomodate us, we might as well accept that, continue voicing our disappointment directly to them, and despite them, build our own information highway and networks. Personally, I have no tolerance for manipulation and lies.
This has been a difficult week for me, my Mother went home to God, late Tuesday evening. She has been my entire world since 2007….caring for her as her health continued to peel away her functions, and her denpendencies expanded. In the end she was mostly spirit, but such a bright and loving spirit, that my days were always blessed and joyful. We had a little ritual, every morning, after waking her and giving her a few minutes I would play Al Jarreau’s song Mornin http://youtube.com/watch?v=iT6uDBi_vtc When she was still capable of speaking she would sing the refrain “in my mind”. I’ld take her little hand and we would pretend that we were dancing, and when he would sing “touch the face of God” and we would remind each other that God is all around, and in each and everyone of us. She loved the videos that I shared with her from this website, she especially loved (honestly, how could you not!) the Family Obama’s…..family meant everything to her.
The community here was especially important for me as it kept me connected to a larger, very important world, that in my day to day was not possible because of my Mother’s total dependency and my responsibility to her. The days ahead will be busy …but I still try to peek in here for a little dose of positivity, becasue one thing I am always reassurred of by coming here is that there are good people all around us, and that we matter to each other, which is what President Obama and Michelle both embody and reflect back to those who are willing to see. When all her aaffairs are settled and I have created my new “reality” I intend to be knocking on doors, making phone calls, talking to anyone who will listen, to be actively engaged in the effort required to secure the Whitehouse for four more years. Because not only Yes.We.Can. but Yes.We.Will.
I’m so sorry to hear about your loss Sue. I will light a candle and say a prayer for you and your mother tonight. Your mother sounds like a sweet lady. She was blessed to have you taking care of her.
I am a frequent visitor to TOD, and have gotten to know many of the regulars here. Though I enjoyed the back and forth and sometimes wanted to join in the conversation, I never did. Until now. I had to tell you, Sue in Minnesota, that I admire you tremendously for your commitment to your mother, to this community and to this country. Your character, love, and humanity are the greatest tribute I can think of to your mom. Namaste.
I am so sorry for you loss, Sue ((((((((hugs))))))). I still miss my mother and it’s been 14 years. My thoughts are with you. I will light a candle for you!
My deepest condolences Sue. May your mom RIP. May the Lord wrap you and your family in a blanket of comfort . Will remember you and your family in my prayers at this difficult time.

Sue, I am so, so sorry to hear about your mother. Your account of your time together was just so beautiful, she was blessed to have such a loving, caring daughter, and I’m sure you feel blessed to have had her too. Will be thinking of you, I know these will be tough, painful days for you, wishing you only the best, you’re lovely. Take care of yourself, and may your mother rest in peace.
Keep your head up Sue. I know the emptiness and loss you must feel. I took care of my mother (5 years of the big C) and it is hard to find the “day” when they’re gone and you have so much time on your hands. Take heart in knowing she’ll always be with you. I have 4 girlfriends and we have all lost our mothers within a few years. You’ll be surprise how much you find yourself talking to and about her. Every time I see a little brown woman with grey hair, a fanny pack and a cane…I smile and think of my Mom. You will find your way again and she will be with you. Take pleasure in all that she loved, and laugh at all that made her laugh and she will always feel close by. Nuthi’n but Luv to you!
Right now is comparable to June of 2007. Were any Obama supporters jumping up and down in June 2007? Why are they comparing June 2011 with November 2008? That is highly disingenuous. And furthermore, if you’re going to compare, what about the “enthusiasm gap” which was touted and brayed about since June 2009? What about the “excitement” for the Republican candidates?
Good points, Hopefruit – since we’re in the middle of Republican primaries, wouldn’t it make more sense for the media to talk about those who are actually in a race, versus the guy who already has the job? Why can’t these fools in the media focus on the lack of enthusiasm about the Republican candidates? They are so transparently suckered by their corporate masters.
OH YES…WE WILL ALL HAVE SOME ‘YEEEEEEEEHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH’ MOMENTS! CAN’T WAIT…BOOTS ON THE GROUND…BOOTS ON THE GROUND…KEEPING OUR AMAZING PRESIDENT IN THE WHITE HOUSE …FOR ANOTHER ROUND!
Want to thank Alex for his kindness, his concern for his children, his commitment to changing things for the better. If more people thought like he does, i.e. helping the President instead of tearing him and the country down, we wouldn’t be in the mess we have today. Alex is a good man, and I’m very proud of him.
These summer organizers are great. I had a one-on-one meeting yesterday with one. When she called my house I thought she sounded about 18, but turned out she was fresh out of college. We talked for about 30 minutes and she requested that I get in. I told her that I was already in, donating money and planning to give time later this year. By the time we were finished talking I was committeed to the 44 action, which is having 22 one-on-ones with friends and family and calling 22 strangers.
If a summer organizer calls your home, please answer.
