Yea!….what came to my mind reading up on many sites today is the response by the Speaker of the British parliament after PBO’s speech there last month….to paraphrase : The true test of a man is what he does when you give him power. That in essence encapsulates the man Barack Obama.

We will make the music for this President. Just read his composition with care as we rehearse this great composition for the world to hear. We will have our night again at the Concert Hall, and guess who will be The Director? You Got It. President Barack Obama. So get your tickets now, but they will cost a sweet price that we here are willing to pay. I am old, but when I am not feeling well, I am trying to get my ticket ready for this great concert. Hi politicaljunkessa, that was one of the suggestions and observations that I made in my letter to the Speaker two weeks ago. And from his reply, I believe that he knows that there is a segment of Americans who can see this is possible while he is The Speaker. His response to me gave me this feeling. I think that maybe this might be a way to get him thinking what he knows will make him or break him. Mr. Speaker, you have a President who is willing to work with you for ALL Americans, so come to your onw core and work with him. Sometimes we will have to play the game like POTUS. Find the emotional insecurties and gently work on them and with them. I believe that President Obama sees that Speaker Boehner can really ser all people , if he is willing to really be the Speaker of the House. and not have his little people walking him across the stage all the time. Hi theo67. You said it. Some students you will have to show them in different ways to learn. You can take the greatness of a great teacher/professor out of that great teacher or professor. However, you have to have some willing students coming through your classroom to learn to enrich their calling in life. Speaker Boehner was in the classroom today. I hope he was enrich for the better. Thanks President Obama and Vice President Biden for showing us how wonderful it is to be a part of a great team. I saw smiles, relaxation, and grace. Hopefully millions of American can see those emotions as well as the brilliance of a great President.

Back in the OLD days when I worked on Capitol Hill, this was how legislation got worked on. At that time the legislators lived in D.C., they knew each others’ families, they socialized across party lines, and worked things out. A lot of that changed when people began flying home to their districts every weekend, and not moving their families to D.C. The President has talked a lot about “changing the tone” in Washington, and is doing his darnedest to do so. This was not a gimmick day, I believe it was a first event in purposeful tone changing. Boehner knows he’d better co-operate and bring his stupid tea party around. The tea party people have NO idea how legislation works, and what work goes into getting it hashed out. I know our new Congressman is more ignorant than the typical 7th grader about realities, people’s lives and working together. Boehner has GOT to bring his caucus to some sense. If he doesn’t, he’s toast.
I think this points out the difference between the short term and long term thinking. Moving one’s family to Washington shows a more long term commitment, too. I think the President is trying to get Boehner to think about the long term consequences of the inaction he’s currently practicing. Good point!

Most Americans will see this for exactly what it is, a President who has been abused and obstructed every single day since he took office still being precisely the President he said he would be. Not the President of Blue America, but the President for ALL Americans.
Speaker Boehner has a choice to make – Wall St has made it clear to him, and those are folk he must heed. He has the choice of enabling the Republican Party to survive the hedeous teabaggers and, perhaps, someday regain a respectable conservative platform. He has very few days remaining to make that choice. He is not going to be Speaker in 2013, irrespective of what he does and he likely knows that, already.
So, the choice for him is to deliver a sane approach to recovering the economy, avoid the true catastrophe a default of the US Government would be, and either retire or, probably, be re-elected. Or, he continues to enable the teabaggers and reap the wrath of his Wall St keepers and be lucky if he can open a bar that anyone would patronize.

However, because you two appear to be the only remotely sane individuals remaining, and because in todays society news just isn’t news unless it’s dirty, salacious, crap, several of us have pooled together, hunted down the most important news we could find today and are sending them to you. It is our hope that you actually read these articles and watch the video, then do a little research and report on them. Since we can’t rely on journalists to do what they went to school for four years to do, it appears we must do it for them and spoon feed it to the actual media people we know won’t totally cock it up. Please spend less time delivering Republican talking points for them and more time actually engaging in fair, balanced and fact checked reporting.
ps- Chris, the liberals have gone nowhere and much to Ms. Huff and Puff’s dissatisfaction, we will not be “breaking up” with the president. They’re playing golf together because PBO and VPB are human and they break through barriers every day to continue to be human, no matter what. I’m VERY glad we registered a TON of voters today. I just got in and read the previous threads and I can tell you I vacillate between feeling sick to my stomach and absolutely empowered. Mindless hatred does what it does. We have a very brilliant, compassionate, honest and happy President and Vice President with families that are WHOLE and loving. They are thriving because they believe in us and each other. They come from humble beginnings and appreciate everything they have. They know what it means to be on the right side of history, to fight for justice. To fight for DIGNITY. That is what matters to those of us who know how to be healthy. Don’t forget, we have accomplished MUCH that cannot be taken back. We’ve turned the page. That awful noise is the product of the sad bleatings of a frightened MINORITY that has never treated people who are not like them with equality or respect. They will perish because the universe is over it.

My President is so amazing.! I can’t imagine anyone else who would have the grace and inner fortitude it takes to spend all day laughing and playing golf with that hateful Kasich and two-faced Boehner and still keep his peaceful aura, the way he does. He does what must be done, even engaging in domestic diplomacy when it sometimes seems hopeless. He was born for this job – no question about it.
