Deaniac (The People’s View): At Netroots Nation, Dan Choi was approached by OFA volunteer Nick Tschida, an organizer at one of Minnesota’s legislative districts who is working hard against a proposed state constitutional amendment to ban same sex marriages that will be up for a popular vote in 2012. So instead of giving this man kudos and shoring up support in favor of the effort to defeat the ban, Dan Choi insulted and humiliated the OFA volunteer by ripping up his Obama flyer and yelling at him. The problem? Nick Tschida mentioned that he wasn’t sure he supported full marriage equality.
….Someone like that deserves our gratitude, not the smug, condescending attitude that Dan Choi displayed. And if someone like that has to be nudged in the right direction on marriage equality, that is something those who claim to be leaders in the LGBT movement should be doing – and doing it with understanding, not humiliation.
….While Choi was badmouthing the President and his supporters, did he take a moment and flash through even a few of the accomplishments of this President for LGBT equality? As he sat on the panel, crassly titled “What to do when the President is not just that into you,” Choi provided every reason why not only the President but anyone who wants to make progress on major issues, including equality, should not be into people like these hotheads who beat up on those who support us.
….I am ashamed at the behavior of Dan Choi. And Nick, I apologize to you for Dan Choi’s behavior. I hope that you will continue to work for equality. Dan Choi does not represent gay activists. Dan Choi does not speak for me….
….Apparently, Dan Choi won’t vote for Obama if he does not endorse marriage equality. Fine. But I am here to tell you, Lt. Choi, that you cannot do worse damage to the LGBT rights movement than to help elect a Republican, which is where your rhetoric and scorched earth attitude, if successful, will lead. But I am also here to tell you that you will fail in that effort …. I will not let you hurt our movement and my brothers and sisters. You got yourself a challenge, buddy.

Dan Choi is a disgrace, he is an embarrassment to the movement, and alot of people who would support the LGBT Movement, will not because of people like Dan Choi.
Dan Choi. needs to sit down and be quiet, ENOUGH already. Dan Choi, has become SICKENING! ENOUGH already! He has some nerve to tear up paper, because the volunteer wasn’t sure If he would vote for same sex marriage. How BLATENTlLY RUDE! -( 😦 😦

I just have to mention WE have SUN here in western ND today!! woohoo, seriously it has been an awful ‘summer’. hasn’t been over 73 degrees… and has mostly remained in the 50’s and 60’s.. with the gloomiest continuation of gray days.. soon as it warms up a tad I’m on my way out the door to get some yard work done.. I’m mostly pain free today- do not understand why.. but ain’t looking a gift horse in the mouth 😉

If any one who lives a different lifestyle (and by “different” I mean anyone who is not white, male and Republican) thinks that they have a better shot at living their life with someone other than President Obama for the next 5 -6 years, they are clearly delusional. There will be at 3, maybe 4 Supreme Court Justices up for replacement. There are no democrats crazy enough to enter a primary against Pres. Obama, so what Republican does someone like Dan Choi (or the rest the folks who think like him) feel will support a lifestyle that includes being gay?
That’s why I don’t understand gay Republicans. or Black Republicans. Or, for that matter, even single female Republicans. Who are they fooling? I agree with the radio DJ Tom Joyner. Republicans = Tea Baggers. formerly known as the KKK.

Choi is as progressive as Puffington. He is a pathetic joke…and that should not be linked to the lgbt movement.
I watched Dan Choi, his mouth twisted and eyes flashing with hatred, threaten the President yesterday on Lawrence O’Donnell’s show. Choi is a sick individual, a racist, and a republican plant. I sent Lawrence a tweet this morning telling him how disappointed I was that he would allow Choi to be on his show spewing this hatred and I that he had lost me as a viewer. I have applauded Lawrence in the past for having the guts to take it to Trump and other republicans. But I now feel that he too is allowing jealously of the President, who has been able to accomplish what he and so many others have not been able to — to drive his coverage.
I do not mean to offend anyone, but Choi and the others who are attacking the President despite all that he has achieved for gay rights are simply bigots. These people are not stupid and know that if a republican were to be elected that they don’t have a snowball’s chance at getting the right to marry. But they do not care about this. What they really care about is that President Obama is a black man and a true liberal/Democrat in the White House. And their actions are making me not care about their rights.
Choi is whining about being arrested for committing the illegal act of chaining himself to the White House fence but I don’t hear him whining about getting his butt kicked in a foreign country. No, because he can’t; they would throw him in jail in a heartbeat.
I take solace in the fact that there were 2,000 people at that phony NN conference, hardly representative of anything. Many of them were most likely not true supporters of Obama anyway. We just have to continue our support and continue putting the truth out there.

I have had it with these phonies. As someone said in an earlier comment, this is the Republican party trying to erode the coalition PBO put together to win. Think about it: attacks from Smiley and West claiming he’s done nothing for blacks. Attacks from Choi. Attacks from so-called progressives. Joan Walsh suddenly proclaiming PBO no longer has his coalition.
All the polls show they are wrong. PBO’s base is solid. So they’re killing themselves trying to dismantle it.
