“If he’d cheated on his wife like everybody else he’d have been forgiven.”

😆

****

I don’t think Steve Kornacki (Salon) likes Weiner very much:

1991: … One of the new districts is in an overwhelmingly white, heavily Jewish swath of southern Brooklyn … Weiner jumps in the race … He also launches an ugly, anonymous attack at the last minute – a race-baiting mailer that links Cohen to the “Dinkins/Jackson agenda,” just days after the Crown Heights riot. Weiner ekes out a narrow victory and only then admits that he was behind the flier. He’s excoriated in a New York Times editorial….

2009: …. Weiner begins showing a sudden interest in congressional and national politics – and, more specifically, in talking about congressional and national politics on cable news programs. For producers, he’s a perfect guest – smart, glib, cocky and provocative. With the healthcare reform debate heating up, Weiner begins championing a single-payer system. It’s an issue he’s previously shown no interest in and that has zero chance of winning enactment …. In the summer of 2009, he becomes a genuine cable news all-star, attracting a new national fan base of liberal viewers. But there’s a clear New York angle: By championing their causes in the national media, Weiner makes a new, much more favorable impression on liberal voters in Manhattan and Brownstone Brooklyn – voters who, combined with his outer-borough base, could make Weiner unstoppable in a 2013 mayoral primary.

2010: Weiner’s hero status to liberal activists is affirmed by a House floor rant against Republican obstructionism on a healthcare bill for 9/11 workers …. several New York members had labored to craft the 9/11 bill and to win over Republican support, but Weiner had played no meaningful role before the floor debate. “He almost blew up the [expletive] bill,” one disgruntled New York member later tells the Washington Post … to his own colleagues, he’s a camera-seeking nuisance who’s interested in gaining publicity for himself – not in doing any substantive work.

…and the beat goes on. MSM and Repubs want us to thing that “the sky is falling” and if we don’t leave “things” the way they were (if their rich buddies aren’t able to get and keep all the money) the world is going to end. While they are jumping up and down, screaming and yollering; other folks are actually getting things done…right on!

eh, I doubt he’s ‘finished’. Too many poor characters still in Congress doing just dandy… not to mention political ‘punditry’.. there’ll always be a job on teevee for him trashing President Obama- I hear thats paying very well.

One thing all those PL folk out there defending this knucklehead Weiner ought to keep in their wee minds- he lied to you.. and he didn’t just lie to you, he manipulated you into helping him lie- he used you, you ‘progressive’ dupes.. and he’d do it again in a heartbeat… think about that.. Rachel and Friends.

I wrote to Rachel and told her pretty much this same truth. He lied on her show, to her face, plus he also lied repeatedly. That’s why he needed to resign. He can’t be trusted. If he had just come clean at the beginning and allowed the tide to turn, he’d be on to the next thing right now, not going for some “therapy”. Maybe he’ll feel what it’s like for the millions of unemployed who have been hoping for action from Congress and not just words and wild tantrums on the House floor.

      I hope you’re feeling better, Sheri. 🙂

thanks for writing to Rachel, theo, that is important- telling the media the facts.

I am feeling better, had my tests this week, finally- still waiting for some results, but the ones that have come back have all been normal. I’m not in severe pain today or yesterday.. its weird, but I’m grateful nonetheless 🙂

Yes I think with Weiner it became a trust issue.. never mind the sliminess of his behavior, but the fact is he has proven himself to be quite dishonest, and whether folks want to recognize it or not, the fact remains that he chose a course of lies and misdirection and he is now paying the cost of those lies. Anyone who defends that then needs to remember that he is not someone they will be able to count on when his back is to the wall- he will do whatever he can to cover his own ass.

I’m glad you’re feeling a bit better and the pain has subsided. I know chronic pain can end up being exhausting.Keep getting better!

This Kenney guy is soooo right!!

I agree with him. People do not think it is right to cheat on your wife, but they underSTAND it! It is universal enough that folks have come to accept it as a part of life even if they find it intolerable.

No one gets sending nude pictures of your body or genitals to someone else. That comes across as out and out weird and like a sociopath with weird sexual proclivities.

IOW’s 90% of people cannot identify with it.

I also see Kenney’s point when he said it hurt his wife’s career as well.

The fact is that anyone who stays with Weiner after these gross acts of exceptionally poor judgment is deemed to be stupid and to have just as poor judgment!

Many folks would probably say that she needs to count her blessings that she found out early enough to get out before she had wasted years of sacrifice with this
    asshole.

Who in their right mind is going to want to be seen with them as a couple? They will pity her and despise him as they engage in derisive laughter.

I so feel bad for her;she’s the victim in all of this and the Carnaval Barker whose on his what now? 2nd or 3th wife had the audacity to say that Mrs Weiner being in Africa with SoS Clinton was “fishy” 😯 🙄 😡

Remember that beauty queen with the “opposite marriage” nonsense sent nude pictures of herself to some guy she had recently met. I don’t recall them demanding that she be put in rehab.

But, I still find Weiner to be slimy.
