Broward Palm Beach: Next month the Broward County Police Benevolent Association is holding a “Party to Leave the Party” – an event coordinated with the Supervisor of Elections where police officers and the general public can switch their voter registrations from Republican to Democratic or Independent.
The reason for the switch? The association, which serves as the bargaining union for the county’s law enforcement officers, is unhappy with the leadership of Governor Rick Scott and the results of the past legislative session, including changes to the Florida Retirement System that will require the workers to pay more of their own wages into retirement savings.
The PBA may be a union, but it’s not traditionally a bunch of liberals … “I think most of our police officers and stuff are Republicans,” says Broward PBA President Patrick Hanrihan. Well, until the party-switching party, that is. “We’ve been supporting Republican governors for the past 20 years,” Hanrihan continued.
But this one’s antics may be too much for the traditionally red-voting, gun-wielding, meat-eating, hippie-busting (OK, we’ll stop) cops to stomach. “[Governor Scott’s] union dues deduction bill is a flat-out union-busting bill,” says Hanrihan. “Under the law, a government agency wouldn’t be allowed to collect union dues if it was involved in political campaigns.” He notes that Scott had “no problem” taking money from the police union in the past election….

They got the government they deserved. Voted for the criminal nut just because he had an [R] after his name. And now they have him for four years because they couldn’t take off their partisan blinders to see how utterly unqualified he was and how much better Alex Sink was.
Only sympathy I have is for the folks who actually voted for Sink, and especially those who donated and volunteered for her campaign. Those who voted for Gollum or didn’t vote at all are getting what they deserve.
Yep, they were republicans all while being protected by a union that the democratic party fought to have in existence to serve the people. And their vote in 2010 is hurting millions of Americans –seniors, kids, etc. They should be ashamed.

On July 1st, I will lose 3% of my gross. That’s on top of not having had a raise in 3 years. We’re calling it the Public Workers’ Tax.
I blame Charlie Christ, whom I had liked. But, when he ran from President Obama instead of standing up to the crazies in his party, I lost all respect for him. So did many independents. I would have voted for Sink, but Charlie wouldn’t have lost to Scott if he had not been a coward and cowered to the fringe who ended up punishing him anyway.
Crist was running for the Senate against Rubio and Meek.
I blame Meek for stubbornly staying in the race when it was clear that he was simply splitting the vote and increasing Rubio’s chances of getting elected.
You too?!!! I told my dad that a couple months ago. Meek did us a disservice here. I would have preferred the lesser of two evils: Charlie, at least he had a history of reaching across party lines. I think politicians forget that politics isn’t about them, it’s about us and what’s best for us not them. I really wish there was some politician etiquette school were they could learn the proper ways to behave, and how to properly partner with us and ensure that they are always doing their best for us. I think it’s ridiculous that any Tom, Dick and Psycho can run and win ie: Scott, Kasick, Walker, Rubio and the rest of the GOP Crazy & Co.
I have never understood why Democrats didn’t support Meek – a Democrat, and called for him to step aside to allow a Republican to win against another Republican. Remember, Crist only went Independent when his party abandoned him, and he was interviewed saying that he was not committing to caucus with Democrats after the election, that he would make up his mind after he got all the Democratic votes to win. Meek has a record of promoting and passing Democratic legislation, and was definitely going to work for Democrats. If Democrats had supported him, a member of their own party, then he would have possibly won. Instead, Democrats called for him to step aside, and allow someone like Crist to run, who actually ran away from President Obama. I’ll never understand that whole scene.

I was also pissed, Sherijr and Theo! I just didn’t get why Democrats would support a Republican over a fellow Democrat? To blame Meek for Rubio’s election makes absolutely no sense to me! Charle Christ was a REPUBLICAN? Why should Democrats support a Republican over a Democrat? Rubio’s win should be blamed on Democrats who either didn’t show up to vote, or voted for a Republican pretending to be an independent!

I actually put more fault on the eligible non-voters, who outnumber all those who voted and are now among those doing the loudest complaining.
I hope the party is a huge win win and maybe it will spread across our country. Lessons again for all never sit out an election, read between the lines, and don’t vote out of anger.

Their was an article yesterday, that said the president has new problems in Florida, the unemployment rate is 12.1 percent!
Funny thing is, Rick Scott got elected to bring 700k jobs to florida but instead we have lost jobs here!

Well, he ran on obamacare and what he called Obama rail. The lady that ran against him ran away from the president, even had a major ad bashing the president.
That said, she only lost by 60k votes out of 4.5 million votes cast!

Have you noticed that he is doing more local TV interviews (several a week); going weekly to communities to get the word out. Local media are more apt to cover his message. Look at all the articles in Toledo with the last visit (and stimulus to the local economy). I think Linda of What is Working is right: we need to focus on local papers and media as well as social media like FB and Twitter. Richard Wolfe’s short piece Revival 2.0 (available through The Atavist) comments on the recent changes in the WH with Plouffe laser-focused on getting a clear message out and increased organization within the White House. Interestingly he mentions the President’s complaint that more people need to help with the messaging (hence, Debbie Wasserman-Shultz).

I think playing golf recharges him, and gives him time away from clattering voices to think. Of course he’s thinking and planning. Yes, your are correct in your thinking about the President playing golf. I want him to play golf or any other sports that he will enjoy. He needs that outlet. This President works harder than any President that I have been blessed to see in office. People just do not want to say that. Plus most of them will NEVER say it. But some of us know that he does. Just look at his record. And this thing notion that he is not doing enough about the economy is hogwash. This man came in with a pile of you know what on his desk, and immediately brought together a team with no drama, pulled up his sleeves and move forward with a plan that save us and the world from a bad situation. He DID NOT CREATE THAT MESS. But he did not hide from it, it went into action and did several things at once and did as much as any decent human could do to help us pull things together. He did not turn his back on the automobile companies, and look how they are thriving. President Barack Obama is a clear and intelligent thinker. He brought that mind to the Whitehouse and as along as he is sitting in that Oval Office, he will use that mind to continue to bring us out of this mess. However, most people do not want to understand that we have three branches of government. He is one of those, but they all have to work together. And this sorry MSM has NOT done him fair in ALL of this. These hateful people know that they have not done so either. But the day when Barack Obama walks out of that Whitehouse in 2017, these sorry MSM people will not have a job. There will be no one to come into that Oval Office and work as hard, fairly, and intelligently like President Obama. I do not see how they can go to bed at nnight knowing that they could have covered this great President more faily, intelligently, and honestly than they are presently doing. Where is their conscience? But you know what, POTUS has already made history regardless of what these phony men and women will do. And POTUS will be blessed daily and will be blessed when he leaves after his second term. And most of all the people who want and deserves fairness, love, compassion, care, and help WILL remember all of this. God is a just God. They can(some of them) can go to church every Sun., in the year, but it is how you live the gospel and message of the word in your daily lives that touches the heart of God. So we will journey on with this decent and good President, pray for our fellow brothers and sisters and their families to have faith in their God and trust the instrument that He has placed in that Oval Office to help them. We will make this, trust me. We will try very hard to keep our hearts pure, pray with convictions of what is right to do by our sisters and brothers who are in deep need, and work hard together to re-elect POTUS and regain the House, and we will work our behinds off and get this done.
