Strange things happening with comments on the blog today, some of you good people are having your words dumped in the spam folder alongside assorted nutjobs, like the lady from Texas who keeps trying to remind us that the President is black. 😯 I didn’t know that, did you?
Hopefully this is just temporary oddness, maybe Sundays do strange things to WordPress?
So, fear not – if your comments don’t appear immediately, I’ll rescue them from that spam folder.

Umm, the nut job from Texas cannot understand why so many here and abroad respect, admire , support and voted for PBO. Surely, to do so we must not know he is black and therefore unworthy of this regard. She considers it her duty as a citizen to alert everyone to the fact that he is black because we must have missed it!

I will not paint the people of Texas with a broad brush, but there is a quote from Lonesome Dove about many people from there (that I will not quote here) that fits this person and Rick Perry and the other unreconstructed folks who have similar attitudes.
The good news is that even though they and others (republican govs.) are fighting to drag us back to the dark ages, they will not be successful because the rest of us have moved on.

And she’s gorgeous. And she’s smart. And she’s capable. And she works harder than any other first lady in recent memory. Hope it’s not too much more of a shock.
On a serious note, I appreciate them both so much and am so caught up in being grateful for their achievements and how hard they are both working for us that I forget how much they symbolize. And then I remember again and am happy all over again just for the fact that he is the President and she is the First Lady. I am old enough to remember looking, as a child, at the pictures in Life magazine of the fire hoses blasting at black civil rights marchers and not being quite able to comprehend the ugliness. I have to tell you that as an adult, I still find it hard to understand the ugliness of the lady from Texas and her ilk.
