not that we should trust economists, but…..

Bloomberg: Slowdowns in consumer spending and employment will prove temporary, giving way to a U.S. growth rebound in the second half of 2011, economists surveyed by Bloomberg News said.

After growing at a 2.3 percent annual pace this quarter, the world’s largest economy will expand at a 3.2 percent rate from July through December, according to the median forecast of 67 economists polled from June 1 to June 8.

Rising exports, stable fuel prices, record levels of cash in company coffers and easier lending rules will be enough to overcome the damage done by one-time events like poor weather and the disaster in Japan….

“The economic headwinds are well known, but if you look at the tailwinds, they are still pretty strong,” said Nariman Behravesh, chief economist at IHS Inc. “There are a lot of reasons to be fairly upbeat about the recovery. Growth will pick up in the second half.”

….Increasing overseas demand is another reason for optimism ….. Exports climbed to a record in April, Commerce Department figures showed yesterday….

O watched the bloomberg channel all day, the did not even mention there own survey!
Instead, CEO after CEO saying they do not like Dodd frank and that is why banks are not lending and…

Maybe we just need to nationalize the banks and get rid of those people who are dragging down the economy. They never get to the end of their excuses for their unpatriotic behavior. They only want to suck the life out of this country, and heaven help anyone who gets in the way. Well, luckily, President Obama is in the way, and heaven seems to be on his side.

The good thing about this projection for the positive upturn in the latter half of the year is that the right wing and the media will spend the summer dogging the economy and spreading their “doom and gloom” message, and then the economy will start to improve… just as the election season starts to heat up. Brilliant!

Jovie – if not for your updates, we wouldn’t hear anything about the good works of Sec. Chu in Russia. I have not heard one update at all about this on TV or the radio. Thanks for looking out!

I think the GOP knows this, and the plan is to use the deficit cuts from the debt ceiling negotiations to say “See, our demand for cuts in spending saved the economy” and “We really didn’t want to cut Medicare, it was just to get the Dems attention to negotiate seriously”.

I think they are trying to starve the beast (the American people) so we will eventually give in to their singular demand of NO Regulation. Period. Nada. Ziltch. Like a dog intent on digging for it’s favorite bone. Nothing else exists for them.
