After viewing this vid i’m reminded of the following by Sam Harris : “What is so unnerving about the candidacy of Sarah Palin is the degree to which she represents—and her supporters celebrate—the joyful marriage of confidence and ignorance . . . Ask yourself: how has “elitism” become a bad word in American politics? There is simply no other walk of life in which extraordinary talent and rigorous training are denigrated. We want elite pilots to fly our planes, elite troops to undertake our most critical missions, elite athletes to represent us in competition and elite scientists to devote the most productive years of their lives to curing our diseases. And yet, when it comes time to vest people with even greater responsibilities, we consider it a virtue to shun any and all standards of excellence. When it comes to choosing the people whose thoughts and actions will decide the fates of millions, then we suddenly want someone just like us, someone fit to have a beer with, someone down-to-earth—in fact, almost anyone, provided that he or she doesn’t seem too intelligent or well educated.”

This is a brilliant quote – do you remember where you saw this? It would be great to make this viral, and deliver a slap in the head to those who think the stupidity of palin is “charming” or somehow admirable.

I just found the article – it’s still totally relevant, and chilling in its accuracy. The truth is, it could apply to Bachmann and her crazy beliefs, and almost any Republican running today and appealing to the religious zealots to get them elected. What a shame for the country.

My reply and question to those who espouse superior education attainment as elitism, what if it were your child? Would you then denounce he/she for excelling? Their tirades against educational “elitism” is pure bs, and they know why they decry it. It’s only to line their pockets and/or further their cancerous careers by fear mongering of weak people, who don’t see themselves as achieving the so-called American dream. Ask any of these miscreants to give up their bar tabs, hotel suites, lux vacations, maximum wardrobes, to become one with the sheep they mis-lead. You’ll hear……………(crickets).

Any one of those far right nuts will try to send us rocketing back to the stone age. They are VERY anti-science. They are arrogantly ignorant….and yet they make use of every new thing technology has for us….twitter, email,youtube…..you know. Yet, they deny important facts science shows if they disagree with their ideology. Do they not realize that science is not ideological? Do they want to stop research into disease cures……to name just one thing?

By the way, our President to me is a one-man political party. I see no one else out there connecting with average Americans in a positive, spirited manner like he does. Seems he continues to be in a battle of one man against many mis-guided souls. God must have flocked His angels around President Obama. There’s no other way I see he could continue to do what he does. And my prayers help, IMHO .

Thanks EDP4BHO. I completely feel as you do on this one. I believe that God’s angels are around President Obama daily. I believe that God knew that the battle was going to be very difficult, and President Obama needs this measure of grace around him always. I give thanksgiving for God’s grace and wisdom granted to our President. Lord knows, he needs it in this vile climate. Thanks for your thoughts on this “one-man political party.” We will continue to lift President Obama up with our prayers, times in meditations, or whatever spiritual focus our family here so desire to help our President move with grace, compassion, intelligence, and such a caring heart and attitude daily. We will come out of this by the grace of God, and good people believing and working with the President.

Ed and HZ – I think you’re both right on the money. I find it hard to find many on the left who defend and represent the same “Democratic” and even “American” values that the President espouses. The fact that many of them have fought tooth and nail against doing the right thing, the fact that the President is often the only one fighting the good fight, and the fact that we didn’t hear any Democrats complain about the new light schedule cooked up by Republicans which gives them a three day work week… It’s pathetic. My sister and I were talking about this a while back – and we concluded that the little Obama girls are their angels, they keep them sane and grounded. They are just amazing in their composure and poise, and just darlings. I also think that the entire family is surrounded by good energy and angels – there’s no way a normal human being could sustain the evil thrown at them these 2.5 years without divine help!

I really hope democrats can wake up and embrace these higher values before we get to 2012. But I fear that they will be expecting President Obama to continue to do the bulk of the heavy lifting, and then they will glide on in on his coattails. Luckily, I don’t think any of this surprises President Obama.
