I hate to see Senator Shelby in the audience. He was instrumental in derailing the nomination of Peter Diamond. Disgusting….

Can you believe he was once a democrat?

        Shelby a democrat? 😮 😮 😮 😮 😮 😮

        • June 8, 2011 at 4:46 pm

Yes, sadly, he was once a democrat. 🙂 I actually had the “pleasure” of working as an intern in his office back in the early, early, early 80s when he was a Democrat. (No, I was NOT a Monica Lewinski-type intern!). 🙂 I was completing a “Washington Experience” course during a Spring Interim term at the University of Alabama. During my four weeks on Capitol Hill, I actually only saw Sen. Shelby once during the internship.

After finding a way to dodge the office routine of filing papers, I was able to spend a lot of time working of my research paper which focused on the “Oil Crisis” that was going on at the time. So I ended up spending a lot of ” uninteresting” time just watching and listening to the hearings taking place during the legislative session. The only “excitement ” was meeting a cute guy named Ponce DeLeon. . . And I won’t give any of the details of that “Washington Experience.” 🙂

Did yall saw the lady’s reaction when the President signed her book? They all love him :). He’s so cool! But there was a woman to the end of the broadcast who was sitting, taking a picture of the president with her legs open and she had on a skirt. I know she was super excited and wanted to get the pic quickly before he left but geez huh! I felt bad for her!

Aww he is such a good guy.. he shook everyone’s hand, took photos and brought Ethan Gibbs (Robert’s son) up for pictures with POTUS and the team. Coach’s remarks were very kind to the President- I always appreciate that, when citizens speak up honestly and publicly about President Obama. I’m sure it was a nice fun few moments out of the day for both President and the team members.

Nice to see Robert Gibbs! I missed him, although I love Carney too.

I love Robert Gibbs but I have to say I think Jay Carney is doing a superb job. They have very different personalities. Jay is much more serious and less likely to be off the cuff and play into their nonsense. Jay can also be funny but he is really top drawer professional.

I have to take your word for it – I’ve long given up trying to watch those WHPC press briefings. They are an exercise in patience.

Love Gibbs! He loves him some winning Auburn! He needs to get his butt on TV and defend his friend and president. The Press has been like one of those “Flash Mobs” the Wingnuts complain abt all the time, with the “bad”/”oh so horrible!” jobs report. These people are incorrigible. They so want an exciting race for ratings but it will not happen this yr. The Obama/Hillary Primaries were a once in a Generation event. I remember David Broder, writing in 2008 that no presidental race ever had been as exciting to cover as this one for him; except for the Kennedy/Nixon race, which was the first race he had covered as a political report. They were of course, different, but both exciting races for him.

God blessed him with his last good race before he died. I hope I’m as lucky. Four more years, please.

Don’t worry. Gibbs is manning the Intertubes…a huge part of the equation in PBO’s 2012 campaign.

Wall street failed to roll back a big Dodd /frank provision today. Now, the fed has to initiate these rules next month! They are pissed!
Also, wall streets pimco says, we need austerity like britain, in order to reset economy.
    Pfffffft! Whatever-PIMCO!!!

This is EXCELLENT news! Thanks Jovie. I was worried about this one today, since the lobbyists were hard at work to protect their paid interests. Chalk another one down for the little guy – although, in this case, it’s the real small businesses who won; the same ones that Republicans claim that they’re fighting for.

these folks must be smocking some bad Bobby Brown crack if they think we need austerity like Britain 🙄

Oh phewie!!! I missed it! I wonder what PBo said to the audience when he couldn’t get the helmet onto baby Gibbs’ head? Did he turn to Big Gibbs and say : ” this is your fault Gibbs?” That would explain why the audience was laughing: PBO has an awesome sense of humor. Man!!! I wish I had seen this 😦

I’m loving this new layout, but I’m still typing blind. Do anyone know know how to get your post to show up while typing?

I’ve been trying and I’ve given up. I just type into Word and then spell-check and copy everything back into this little blind box.

Never mind, I fixed it by turning off the compatiblity setting.

Where did you see the compatability setting?

          June 8, 2011 at 5:56 pm

Look on you Tool Bar in the upper right hand corner and click the arrow and a window will drop down, there you will find the compatiblity view. If it has an arrow by it click it and that turns it off.

you can’t see what you’re writing as you type? How strange. Everything works on my end. I wonder what that’s about?

    Hi Chipsticks,

I ‘m now catching up for the past couple days. It’s been really hectic at the office. Just crazy!

Anyway it’s so nice to come here and unwind and just admire this lovely man.

His smile just melts my heart.

This was so good to see little Mr. Ethan Gibbs and his father. I have always loved the photo where Ethan is giving POTUS a fist bump. Cute. I do believe that Gibbs is working on the outside for the President. They are very tight. Thanks for this,Chipsticks.

Late to the party, as usual these days. So glad to see Robert Gibbs back at the White House. Other than Axelrod, I always felt he was the one on the team that had the most passionate intensity of devotion to the president. I noticed he was seated almost in the place of honor – he and Ethan were sitting front row center. The seating, the funny remarks about him, and the lovely helmet interaction with Ethan – I thought those were all signifiers of how much the president values Robert Gibbs.
