I have an article I keep with me from August 2008, headlined “Making millions”, wherein Senator Obama said that “he would win the presidency but to expect a tough battle with Republicans in the meantime”. That revelation gave me hope then, it gives me the same hope now, but I’d love to know how he could be so sure then. Is he clairvoyant? Who knows, huh? Nonetheless, I find my best peace in continual prayer for PBO, the economy, the security of the nation. We should all be very vigilant in anything we are doing to help him win re-election, and be positive doing so, as much as we possibly can in this season of silliness and hatred.

While I readily acknowledge, that Obama is a distinctly American leader – his reach and his legacy is truly global. I feel my world has expanded and can never revert to its original limited dimensions. He’s engaged, in a respectful and humble way, so many global powers. He’s hosted young sub-Saharan leaders of Africa and encouraged them to blaze a new path devoid of corruption and believe that democracy can flourish there. He’s approached Russia as bi-lateral sovereign power and secured their commitment in regards to Libya. He does not talk “at” people (leaders); he readily acknowledges that countries have political and cultural agenda beyond appeasing America and our interests. Other leaders easily acknowledge the intellectual prowess of the president, and they respect and admire how cerebral he is.
Today’s welcoming of the Chancellor was wonderful to see. I’m elated that most of her address she spoke in her native German. I learned interesting historical tidbits about how 600K Americans work for German countries. This is truly a world that is interconnected. Palin, the tea-Party, and the majority of the Republican Party collectively represent anti-intellectualism – abhorring people who think. They court the ignorant and the petty. It would be a shame if they were to prevail in 2012….
