I’m kind of offended by this statement and the one Chips posted. I know it’s snark but it comes off as too mean-spirited and a bit racist. The fact that Mrs. Chao was Bush’s Labor Secretary is enough to condemn her. Making fun of her race/ethnicity, even in jest, just comes off as racist and odd on this blog. JMHO.

JoJo, Yardarm wasn’t being racist, he was having a go AT the racism of the GOP and a state like Kentucky (which, after all, elected Rand Paul) – that’s what his comment was about, a jokey reference to how Kentucky right-wingers would take to McConnell having a wife of Asian heritage.

As per Wikipedia on Turtle Mitch:

/// His first wife was Sherrill Redmon,[30] later divorced, they have three daughters, Elly, Claire, and Porter.[31] His second wife, whom he married in 1993, is Elaine Chao, the former Secretary of Labor under George W. Bush (the first Asian American woman to serve in the Cabinet). Senator McConnell’s personal fortune is estimated at $32,756,000 in 2009, having increased by $800,002 since the previous year, and ranking as the 12th wealthiest member of the U.S. Senate. ///

I know, right? Angela calls him “Barack.” Enough said. And I found it so amusing that in the story they kept talking about Bush’s friendship with Blair, which he inherited from Clinton. And they talk about how casual Bush was. That’s because he was a damn doofus who had no manners or upbringing. He did not know how to act in formal settings. I believe he didn’t have many state dinners and I believe that’s why. And why wasn’t Bush invited to bunk at Buckingham Palace and address Parliament? Because he was too dumb and inarticulate.

I only read half of the article and then stopped. Politico had a similarly stupid article last night stating that the President and Chancellor had an awkward relationship, and didn’t get along. Well, a picture says a thousand words, and I saw all I needed to see today during all the ceremonies. Once again, Politico gets it completely wrong. Their agenda is very obvious.

Also, while George W might have been like a “puppy dog”, but he accomplished nothing positive for the people of this country. I’d rather have a leader who gets results, rather than a silly puppy dog leader who does a lot of damage.

A couple of comments — First, I predict an uptick in visits to the tanning salons these next five years among Americans, given the beauty of our president and first lady. Second, The First Lady’s gown is absolutely lovely, but looks like a bear to keep from tripping over, especially given that marvelous train.

In other words, ABC is going to do the bidding of the republicans. Which we’ve already started to see with the ABC poll today and them teaming up with Breitbart against Weiner.

Diane Sawyer might be a Republican hack but I believe that Charlie was a PBO supporter. At first I wasn’t sure, but during the inauguration, it seemed that way. And then when Charlie was leaving ABC, he saved PBO’s comment on him for last. That told me that he respected whatever this President had to say about him and ended his segment with the President’s remarks.

I think the corporations sway their employees to do their bidding…it’s unfortunate but peple need to earn a decent living and the corporations are greedy and pressure their employees to gin up fauxtroversy in order to get paid. Of course, some of the employees are in fact Repblican hacks and they don’t need any pressuring.

The only thing I remember quite fondly about old Charlie was his interview with the quitter governor. Remember he asked her if she agreed with the Bush doctrine. She had no idea what it was. Charlie looked over his glasses at her like a stern teacher in disbelief. And she says, “In what respect, Charlie.”

That started the quitter’s downfall. America saw just how stupid she is.

He’s got a tough election fight, but a winnable one, and his holding his seat could be the difference between keeping the majority or losing it.

Hey Peeps. Was on vacation for a bit so haven’t been on to comment in a while, but have sneeked a peek every chance I could. Now I’m back and glad to see all the wonderful pageantry of the ‘Official State Visit’. And I agree with all the comments about the best speaker the House has ever seen. Nancy is one fabulous, phenomenal woman and I’m gonna work like crazy to get the gavel back in her hands!

I remember donating to her 70th birthday roses delivery. What started as a small gesture turned into an amazing display of warmth and well wishes from around the country. And being the gracious lady that she is, she had most of them delivered to Walter Reed Hospital.

I was so very excited for her all week as the number of roses ordered grew and on the day they were delivered, I was almost in a panic that she would leave the chambers before they were delivered. But everything went smoothly and I was so happy.

    here are pictures: http://tinyurl.com/6glgq8h

and here’s the diary that started it all: http://tinyurl.com/6fdjcwd

But back to the State Visit, thanks again Chipsticks for all your efforts at ‘taking us there’.

I must say that you all have me laughing my head off tonight. I love it because I was thinking the same thing aa so many of you stated. I am so tired, but I just laid here and screamed. Thanks, Chipsticks for another beautiful display of beautiful pictures. You all make this such a wonderful place to come to and just relax, share, and laugh with pure joy. Thank you all. I love and respect you for keeping this a great site, Chipsticks.

I know that Debbie Wasserman Schultz and AZ Senator Gillford (spelling?) are good buddies, but have you noticed that their husbands look a lot alike also. Gillford’s husband is already a twin, but could it be Debbie’s husband is the triplet that was separated at birth?

    Just wondering aloud….

Ok maybe this is slightly mean, but what the heck is Chief Robert’s wife wearing? It looks like it would have been better as along straight dress. she looks a little anachronistic in that dress. I just have this temptation to say, “The 80’s prom night called, they want their dress back”. But I shouldn’t say such a mean thing. see this is the difference between a democatic votervs republican teabagger. We feel remorse.

Haha. I think maybe she’s trying to be recapture her youth. She probably is trying to remind her hubby of that young gal he married decades ago. Let’s hope the magic is still there after decades of boredom and ZERO creativity. Chief Roberts will not be going the Weiner route – not tonight any way.

Tonya Lewis Lee says. At the same time, there’s also a bit of wariness among the wealthiest ones, an uncertainty whether Obama will affirm them. Obama is more a man of the people, says a Vineyarder who’s part of black high society. He doesn’t seem to identify with affluent black people. His wife definitely doesn’t; she is basically a ghetto girl. That’s what she saysI’m just being sociological. She grew up in the same place Jennifer Hudson did. She hasn’t reached out to the social community of Washington, and people are waiting to see what they’ll do about that.-

I read this in article and it made me love the Obamas even more if that is possible.

These society types in Washington are the very elites that they accuse the Obamas of being. My simple question is – why do these Washington characters get into politics, where you’re supposed to want to work for the very people that they seem to despise?

I feel like ESP. The black dc elitist group don’t like the obamas too much. I love the fact they went around the whole establishment to win. I love the way they are and what they deem is important. They know they are the highest society but that doesn’t matter much to them. I really really like them and I am pretty sure the black elitist can’t get over the fact they have achieved this without them

This just made me love the Obama’s more. They are people that keep it real and don’t put up a front like those bougie mother&*$&$#%’s

Why do these “elite” need to be reaffirmed…….needy babies, they are so full of themselves how is there even room for what anyone else thinks or cares about them. The y covet the love and admiration that the Obama’s have earned, but most probably for ego satiation and opportunistic advantage. President Obama does not disparage wealth, he just adheres to the creed that to whom much is given much is expected., and that people not wealth should be priority number one.

Sound like the phony elites that are probably deep in debt to keep up appearances of wealth. They’re the most plastic, phony, boring people you’ll ever meet so it’s no wonder that the Obama’s want nothing to do with them.

I am a BIG fan of this site. I visit it at least once a day to get the accurate news about our President and First Lady. Though I visit often, I almost never comment (I prefer to observe), but I have to say I admire Ms. Chao for her strength and fortitude to be married to Senator McConnell. I may seem shallow, but can you imagine having to turn over in the bed each morning and face THAT?
