monday’s interviews

newsnet5: President Barack Obama had an overall optimistic message for Northeast Ohioans Monday as NewsChannel5’s Leon Bibb sat down with him for an interview in Washington. The topics discussed included the auto industry, the economy, the future of NASA Glenn Research Center, Osama bin Laden death on the impact of American troop withdrawal and urban education….

…Bibb asked the president if the death of Osama bin Laden would mean the acceleration of withdrawal of troops in Afghanistan.

“What I’ve said is that this summer is going to be a summer of transition,” said Obama. He said it’s time for the Afghans to take responsibility for their own security, citing the training that American troops are providing to them.

“By killing bin Laden, by blunting the Taliban, we have now accomplished a lot of what we set out to accomplish 10 years ago,” said Obama.

The president said he will be making an announcement soon about the transition plan about the pace of the troop reduction.

But, but, but all dayxwe heard that bc the president wants to withdraw troops, now the msm wants them to stay!
Again, whatever the president says, the msm goes opposite.
Did they do this to Reagan?

The President has been pretty consistent about the July date to review the situation and begin the drawdown. I think he’s shown himself to be extremely consistent, but willing to adjust if circumstances dictate – and I can only imagine that he would only change the trajectory if something serious was happening. I give him the benefit of the doubt, because he’s earned it!

Nah, but this issue is why many are saying their is no money for domestic issues!
My guess, 30k troops out if afgsnistsn by december and all the troops out of Iraq by the same time.
That will keep Rachel and Eugene Robinson happy. For now.

totally!!! Those two need to live on their own island! They are always 180 degrees away from where the democratic base is, then they call themselves the base!! Idiots!

Thanks Theo67 for your comments. I truly feel that the President will come through with his very thoughtful, well thought out plan to the very best of his ability. He has always shown that he can be focused in his decisions. I believe that the President wants nothing more that to see and have our young men and women come home to their families as soon as possible. Yes, he has earned it.

Awwwww that must be the cutest still shot ever Chips 🙂 …….on the other hand why are all these people rushing the man ‘oh gosh chillax alyuh self nah’….let the man handle his job the best way possible!!!

    • June 6, 2011 at 5:57 pm

Oh no, I just replaced it with the video! 😦

    • June 6, 2011 at 5:58 pm

They are rushing him bc they go not want to see him succeed and it us time the afghanis stand on there own two feet!

      • 26 P
        June 6, 2011 at 6:11 pm

Yes that’s it, they must understand that afghanistan is a delicate situation and anything dealing with war in the middle east must be carefully planned! This President has shown that he is fully equipped to deal with this problem! Yeah yeah they want him to fail but when the bombs drop they don’t only drop on democrats, they drop on everyone so people need to know working together is very important. The man said he would bring the troops home from Afghanistan and I believe he will get that done but everything takes time.

        • June 6, 2011 at 6:18 pm

And kucinich is trying to give the president problems, he is working with the GOP to have meetings against the president.
Question: where is kucinich going to have his meetings, in the spaceship he saw in his backyard???

            June 6, 2011 at 6:33 pm

Sometimes I really do want to believe these people just looking for attention. Kucinich needs to shut the hell up or go join Palin on her bus tour because he is really making a fool of himself along with all his followers. Mr. O got this (Libya) situation, he is not dumb, he knows what’s up!!!!!

And he is the PL’s savior. But I am confident that PBO, as he always does, will listen to his advisors, and then formulate a rational decision for the soldiers and the American people and not the showboaters.

We have to remember that this president is held to a completely different standard than his predecessors. And each time, he’s done the right thing. He continues to inspire me.

You are totally spot on Africa!!!

It is shameful that not only has this phenomenal President had to deal with the expectedly obstructive GOP, but he has also had to contend with a very jealous and hostile group within his own party!!! And yet he keeps getting things done and racking up accomplishments that his predecessors could only dream of!!!

I hate to be so but when bloviating jerks like Anthony Weiner who has been so disrespectful and spiteful and personal in his non-stop attacks on and destructive criticism of President Obama — the leader of his party, are suddenly exposed for the very flawed human beings they are, I can only think — Karma!!!

And many more will have Karma visit if they persist in their vicious and demeaning attacks upon President Obama!!!

If Kucinich’s not careful, he will soon find himself in the same shit creek as Weiner. These men are obviously idle and grappling with low self-esteem. It makes sense that they engage in shitty behavior while trashing the world’s most admired man.

What I like and admire about this man who is our President, he is very consistent and it makes you realize what an impact he has done to this world right now. Every foreign leader is jealous of him, in how he can connect with everyday people.

‘Patriotic Millionaires’ Describe What They’ve Done With Their Bush Tax Cuts: ‘I Built A Dance Floor In My House’
Paul Egerman isn’t certain how many millions he’s saved from the tax cuts enacted during the George W. Bush administration in the early 2000s and extended by President Barack Obama in December of last year.
“I do not know how much I’ve saved over 10 years but I’m sure it is several million dollars — probably in excess of $10 million,” said Egerman, founder of a medical transcription company called eScription.

How many kids could have gone to college on that money, or been given a healthy start in life, or had a life-saving operation? This is the “morality” that Paul Ryan espouses, and the rest of his corrupt Republican party.

You are correct in your summary of how I feel, theo67. But you know theo67, these are the things that these” family value crews” will have to account for. They do not see the long view of things. How many wonderful teachers, great medical researcher, math teachers, scientists, doctors to care for the seniors and children, new preventive medical workers like dietians for the working mothers, seniors, and children. But as sure as we are speaking tonight, Theo67, karma, God’s judgements(whatever you faith is) these things will come back to say, “Pay up now.” I do believe it will happen.

I’m praying for jobs and for the president. I’ve been furious all day because there are 2 Fed openings & Diamond withdrew b/c he’s been waiting a year for a vote. The Senate thugs continuously blocked it. Chiefly, SenShelby. The man deserved an up or down vote. I’m also extremely angry at the DEMS in the Senate! They promised ON THE FIRST DAY OF THE NEW SESSION, they would reform Senate rules abt Filibustering; Holds, Blocks, etc. THEY DID NOT! Bitch McConnel is running the Senate; NOT Reid. Bitch McConnel is trying to Kill the Presidents 2nd term, as he promised at the beginning of the Session, that his #1 job is to make sure the prez is a onetermer. Last time I checked, there were about 50 people who are in limbo; not working for the prez as he had requested. They can’t get a vote b/c Bitch makes sure they do not.

They are doing pro forma sessions during Recess, so the prez cannot Recess appoint anyone. GAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!

9.1% U/E w/two vacancies at the Fed, who is also responsible for ensuring full employment. Diamond would have been great! Just Sad & Angry today for all the unemployed people.

Poll: Large Majorities Of Elderly, Most Informed Oppose Medicare Privatization

In a potentially dire sign for Republicans looking ahead to 2012, a Pew poll released Monday finds that a strong majority of elderly Americans oppose the GOP’s proposal to privatize Medicare.

In addition, the poll found that not only do Democrats oppose the proposed changes, but pluralities of both Republicans and independents do as well.

Yes, I said the same thing, Sonjia Duncan. But we will just keep uplifting up daily to a Higher Power. I pray that the girls will give him much love and happiness now that they are off of their school routine. Many more drop ins with Bo and the girls. We know that he gets beautiful when they are in his presence. I need to have stock in the company where I purchase my candles, because I am lighting them in my home daily now. I feel peaceful with them after saying a prayer for our President , Cabinet, and Staff. I have a special place also for our service men and women. I just feel that we all will find our ‘own’ little space for him and Flotus in our spaces. The evil that is spewed daily about him in words or deeds, will NOT prosper. We have to keep our faith.
