Irish Central: President Obama’s visit to Ireland, and more importantly his famous visit to Ollie Hayes’s pub in Moneygall to enjoy a pint of Guinness, along with the thousands of people who tweeted about the President’s visit, inspired a Wicklow businessman to create this piece of art.
Alan O’Flaherty … created a one off image of Obama made from approximately 1,000 Twitter avatars of users who tweeted on May 23rd … the poster is entitled “Is Féidir Linn” (“Yes We Can”) .. “It’s made up of 1,000 photographs of people who tweeted about the visit on the day. I got the idea of making the image after seeing something similar done when Obama was first elected president.”
Brilliant.
Beautiful.
Eclectablog’s wife made something like this from her personal pics she took at rallies. http://www.eclectablog.com/2010/12/last-day-to-order-obama-mosaic-poster.html
Perhaps Mrs. E is one of the sources they got the idea from 🙂
The man’s chiseled features are quite something.
Agree.
Hear Hear. Great Job Alan O’Flaherty. This is one piece of art I would be proud to own.
Pretty cool. I’m really liking these Irish peeps and the way they have taken to our favorite guy. Is everyone there wonderful, or does it just seem like it? Even if there is a couple that miss the mark :), I like the prevailing spirt there. It’s warm and loving.
I agree with you dotser, very warm and loving people. I am seriously thinking of visiting moneygal in the future. The more I read about it the more I fall in love with moneygall and Ireland as a whole.
My sense as well, and definitely stirring the wander lust in me.
The little girl with the red hair and the freckles that President Obama held will always be remebered in my heart and mind. Always.
I think these montages are AMAZING, and clearly resonate the message that “out of many we are one”. Alan O’Flaherty, I applaud you.
This is so true, especially when you think about how this President is connected to so many cultures and people. The montage is almost like a visual representation of what he actually is – a little bit of everything.
Wow I want one. brb searching for my twitter avatar in that poster.
Amazing!

The “Drink of Love Around The Globe.”
Hello everyone…In so late with this post….however this is simply amazing & I hope he sent the President a copy to put in his Presidential Library….just saying!
Hi everyone, thanks for the comments about the poster.
@StR – wasn’t aware of that image (which is fantastic) but I did tell Irish Central I got the idea from a similar mosaic image someone created from thumbnails of images of newspaper frontpages when Obama was elected. There has been such a buzz here after his visit (and that of Queen Elizabeth II) that I thought a commemorative poster like this was a good idea. Whether anyone will actually buy it or not is a different matter 🙂
@LAPalm – I will definitely send a poster to the presidentual library
Hey Alan thanks for responding. I really hope the poster does end up in the Presidential Library, especially PBO’s after his 2 terms 🙂 Once again thanks for the image; it is excellent!
It’s just been pointed out to me via email (and I’m amazed I missed it) that I spelled Féidir incorrectly on the poster despite me spelling it correctly everywhere else! I have it all fixed now though and have modified the colour of “Linn” to better reflect the proper colour on the Irish flag.
