stay classy, cnn

Media Matters: Proving once again that there’s no standard by which many mainstream media outlets are willing to hold sloppy propagandist Andrew Breitbart, CNN this afternoon invited the discredited blogger on the air to discuss the Rep. Anthony Weiner (NY- D) Twitter story.

Conveniently setting aside the fact that virtually every attack campaign that Breitbart has launched in recent years has collapsed under the weight of modest scrutiny, CNN presented the fatuous blogger as some sort of expert who could walk people through the Weiner story, which he’s been hyping for days. (The whole right-wing blogosphere launched itself into a creepy tizzy over the holiday weekend regarding the story.)

The invite was odd because last summer CNN’s Anderson Cooper helped debunk Breitbart’s shoddy Shirley Sherrod attack and announced the clips of Sherrod that Breitbart posted online “were clearly edited to deceive and slander Miss Sherrod.” Cooper added that Breitbart’s behavior was “a classic example of what is wrong with our national discourse.”

LOL @ CNN presenting Brietboob as an expert on anything.

But of course CNN needs any story to take away from the fact that President Obama’s approvals are on the rise, and a story that creates conflict, drama and tension.

It’s sad that our media has degraded itself from reporting the news into making the news. Yellow journalism at its finest.

JOURNALISM USED TO BE A RESPECTFUL RESPONSIBILITY TO INFORM OUR COUNTRY…IT HAS BECOME AN ENTERTAINMENT SOAPBOX LACED WITH FALSE STATEMENTS IN ORDER TO ATTRACT THE GULLIBLE. IT HAS BECOME A THREE-RING CIRCUS AT A TIME WHEN THIS COUNTRY IS IN DIRE NEED OF WORTHWHILE COMMUNICATION. I AM THANKFUL FOR MY REMOTE ‘MUTE’ BUTTON!

I’m with you anniebella. CNN has become the psychopath, b/c as a “journalistic” news organization that touts itself as “news you can trust,” they have a responsibilty to not pander to such filth. I stopped watching CNN a while back and only watch them if they carry live coverage of PBO. They are a disgrace. They and their so called “experts.”

    May 31, 2011 at 4:42 pm

Wow – CNN used to be the “News you can trust” or whatever their slogan was/is. The only good that comes out of CNN these days is the live feeds of the President’s speeches. Outside of that, they are garbage mongers. With Wolf Blitzer, Candy Crowley and John King, they are just dressing up the trash you can get on FOX. This Brietbart nonsense following closely on John King’s panting after palin this weekend just cements how virogously they are scraping the gutter.

    • 12 nintendowii10
      May 31, 2011 at 4:52 pm

John King just wants to get into Sarah Palin’s panties, just like every other right wing blowhard.

The whole Sarah bus thing is just a ploy to get her back in the headlines, after Mittens and Hermain Cain were stealing her thunder. She needs the attention, and the blowhards like John King are giving her the attention, which is a shameful fail on behalf of our media. If this were the BBC or any other international news outlet, Sarah would be a footnote and forgotten.

Sarah Palin isn’t news, she’s tabloid bullshit, along with the likes of Lady Gaga, Snooki, Charlie Sheen, and Lindsay Lohan. The real news is how our President made history overseas and toured the tornado damaged areas in Missouri, yet our media believes that Sarah Palin deserves more attention, SMH!

Another one of those who seem to have fallen for Sarah Palin is Chris Matthews on MSNBC.

          May 31, 2011 at 5:37 pm

I was just about to say that. Matthews and Fineman can’t conceal their ridiculous and adolescent sexual attraction to this woman. Matthews is turned off by her stupidity but when he sees her in her leather-clad biker outfit, he goes gaga and considers her “electrifying.” Why that would be attractive is beyond me. But then again, I’m not a horny 60-something male media pundit.

President Obama has enormous charisma and sex appeal. I wonder how fast these male pundits heads would explode if all anyone discussed was his hotness. Imagine how threatened their “little brains” would be. I am not suggesting that course of action, but I am struck at how careless and sexually demeaning Matthews and Fineman are to women, especially women in politics, when they openly give voice to their attraction. Could they be less professional or undignified?

It is remarkable, really, what a destructive role model Sarah Palin is to women, girls, and gender equality, or the goals of the feminist movement.

              May 31, 2011 at 7:12 pm

Exactly. If Joan Walsh, Donna Brazille or Melissa Harris were constantly harping on PBO’s great physique, would we be inclined to take them seriously at all? I also believe that it’s BECAUSE of President OBama’s physical attractiveness that Sarah Palin was selected to be McCain’s running mate in the first place. And that’s also the real reason why the MSM is constantly shoving her in our faces. It’s like they notice Barack Obama’s star power and need to feel that he has “competition” in that area, since none of the traditional GOP candidates like Pawlenty, Romney, or even Huntsman can compete. But what they fail to acknowledge is that Barack Obama is more than just a good-looking man. A LOT more. Unlike Palin, Obama did not use his physique to get him into the Havard Law School. And he didn’t decide to run for President because someone thought he was good looking.

Indeed – there was a press Q&A early on during the election when one of the reporters asked then-Senator Obama whether he was too GQ to run for President. While it was a fun question, I thought to myself how unprofessional and stupid the question was. Then-Senator Obama responded that he only had two suits, and he mended them when they got worn out, and then he went on to explain how ordinary he was and his background in the middle class. If the media continued on with this line of questioning and fawning, they would lose what small shred of credibility they still have.

The President doesn’t flaunt his good looks or trade on them. It’s just a perk for those of us observing from a safe distance. And when the media went wild with his shirtless pictures, and the one with his jeans, it was fun, but unintentional. He doesn’t promote himself in that way – unlike the grifter.

I’ve had enough with this mem of Sarah palin as “attractive”. Please the woman is so regular even with her boob job and botox. She just looks like an enhaced two bit airhead. And they are a dime a dozen!!!

There’s nothing to this meme of “attractiveness” except that this is just another way of the media trying to find some “redeeming quality” about a woman that has no business being on the political scene in these serious times and is not even qualified to be considered for floor supervisor at her local walmart in Wasilla!!!

I thought CNN was out trying to locate the “snake”, slithering her way through Gettysburg. Now Brietbart, they sure now how to pick ’em. So strange to me that they choose to elevate the mentally ill. I wonder if CNN picked up the market share that left Fox Lies…if so it explains their only marginally differentiated programming. I turned CNN off, shortly into President Obama’s term. First network I dropped.

Wow, nobody can make a bigger joke out of the MSM than the MSM. They are the architects of their own destruction.
I’ld laugh, but I don’t find it funny.

C-span has change to a right wing promoter. It is no longer balanced in the groups that take over it’s
Airtime. Most are funded by the Koch Traitors. We still have NewsHour, until the right ringers figure out how to defund PBS.

C-Span is a disaster. I never watch it anymore. They re-run obscure Republican panel discussions. The feature articles on their websites rarely are from Democratic activities. When you go to the video library, you have to scroll through several days to find very recent Administration events, and that scrolling past right wing events sometimes from 30 years ago! I only go there if I want to see an event from beginning to end, including opening comments from other speakers.

      CNN is crap!!!

They black out President Obama’s very successful trip to Europe after breathlessly covering the royal wedding with nothing but positive spin!!!

Last week they blanket the airwaves with coverage of the tornadoes only stopping to briefly remind everyone that President Obama was in Europe having fun while folks “suffered” and of course the “gaffe” that was not!!!

Then President Obama returns home on Saturday, flies out to Joplin on Sunday morning and they wait with baited breath for the McCain voters of Joplin respond in a hostile manner to the President!!!

When that doesn’t happen and President Obama is well-received, they immediately black out again and return to focus on Sarah palin even moving their shows to await sarah!!!

Suddenly there’s no more talk about “tornado ravaged communities” and the hand-wringing that was all the rage just a few aday ago!!!

      Shame on CNN!!!

I find this story so gross. Of course CNN and the rest of MSM will pursue this nasty story and have an array of disgraceful people appear on their network. Meanwhile the jobs the GOP promised….where are they? I still only see jobs created due to our amazing hard working president’s policies, zero from the lazy GNOP. They have held the House 6 months now and nothing.

i think we should all send CNN a brief and succinct e-mail with four very powerful words: EAT MY SHORTS, LOSERS.
it’s great because 1: you get to vent in what I believe is a constructive manner and 2: you let them know exactly what you think about their form of “news. 🙄

I’VE WRITTEN CNN BEFORE…THEY COULD CARE LESS ABOUT OUR OPINIONS BECAUSE THEY ARE FED BY THE REPUGS! EVERY SINGLE DAY…ONE WAY OR THE OTHER THEY FIND A WAY TO USE SUBLIMINAL MESSAGES AGAINST OUR PRESIDENT IN AN EFFORT TO STIR MISTRUST! AS FAR AS THE GULLIBLE ARE CONCERNED…THEY’RE OUT IN LEFT FIELD SOMEWHERE AND TOTALLY REFUSE TO USE COMMON SENSE IN THEIR THINKING! THE MORE THE NEST IS STIRRED BY THE MEDIA…THE WORSE IT GETS. IF NOONE COVERED SARAH PALIN…THIS WORLD WOULD NEVER HAVE HEARD OF HER…SHE’D BE AT HOME WINKING AT PUTIN BY HER KITCHEN WINDOW. THE SAME GOES FOR ALOT OF OTHER LARGE MOUTH BASS IN FRONT OF CAMERAS! DON’T FORGET TO REMOVE THE ‘B!’

Turn them off, but be sure to contact them and explain your reasons for doing so.

I agree with those here that BBC and Al Jeerza have proven themselves to have higher standards and integrity. The internet is where the vacuum they have created can and will be filled. Which means net neutrality needs to be maintained and protected.

I sent CNN, ABC, CBS, and NBC News an email. I told them that they were just as much to blame for this Donald Trump B.S., I told them they jumped right into bed with Trump and allowed him to spread his racists filth every where, everyday. I told them that I had hope to see one network, one anchor person to tell Trump that the non-issue of Barack Obama birth certificate will not be discuss any longer unless Trump comes up with proof to prove Obama was not born in this country. But no one, none of them had the guts to do that, because it’s all about the ratings today. So now these same networks is chasing after Sarah Palin, who will not even sit down with them and give them an interview. Who has not even announce that she is running for anything, but yet they chase her like a dog chase a cat. All Palin wants is attention. And the stupid media is giving her all of it.
