Okay..I’m in a ball of tears after watching these 2 videos. The world reaches out to our President, they see a man of color like themselves in these 2 videos. In our President they see bits of themselves, he gives them hope and the joy seen in their faces! What other President could do this? I only wish more Americans can see what we on this site see and what the rest of the world sees. I need to wipe my tears now….
Me too, Carla…I just seeing the happy faces greeting our President from the children right on up to the officials. Love the music used for the videos too – really captures the feelings being shared. I too wish our own country would appreciate his presidency more.
Awww… Chipsticks thanks for bringing back these videos. It’s been a whirlwind six days with PBO and MO. They are truly wonderful ambassadors of America. They show everyone around the world that even though our politics may be divisive and we may be a pluralistic nation with so many differing ideas, our diversity and acceptance of one and all is what truly makes us great in the end. They are citizenship personified.
Oh Chipsticks I couldn’t sleep so I went to BWD’s TOAITH and added to her thread, 100 or things we love about Obama after reading all of them and adding more of my own I was filled with joy and tears. Then I come here and you have added these wonderful videos. My heart is full. I will be able to go to sleep with a smile on my face and joy in my heart. I can’t wait for you video from this trip.
TOP OF THE MORNIN’ TO YA! I’M OFF TO CHURCH THIS FINE MORNING…BUT…WANTED TO SAY…HAVE A BEAUTIFUL SABBATH DAY…AND IF IT WEREN’T FOR THE PRESIDENT’S COMPASSIONATE DIPLOMACY…WE WOULD STILL BE CARRYING THE REPUTATION G.W. LEFT BEHIND. THANK YOU MR. PRESIDENT AND THANK YOU CHIPS FOR ALL OF THESE WONDERFUL PEEKS INTO THE PRESIDENT’S LIFE AS WELL.
The pictures in Brazil say it all; especially the one of PBO with the two little boys who lean all over him as he is seated, his arm around one of them. A US president went to the barrios of Brazil, w ith his family, and walked, and played among the people who are the lowest rung of society. His sincerity was so clear that the children reacted to him as if he were a favorite uncle. After all of the imperialistic deeds of our country in S. America, we have a president who is showing them and others in the world, that America is a place that will now respect others and seek to work with them as full and equal partners. Can you imagine what it meant to the people that he did not spend his time with the wealthy and the poweerful; that he did not treat them in a patronizing way, but as someone who really sees them, not as a tool for America’s use, but as they really are; unique and worthy of respect. pBO has raised our stature in the world because of this humilty more than any other president who used our tanks and money to get our way.
I have the same awe at the President’s desire to reach out to the people that don’t normally get a chance to have their voices heard. For those that know what the Beatitudes are there are few leaders of men who practice these but I think our wonderful leader does. What a difference it makes. In my opinion that’s where the real power in the universe lies is with these simple but profound attitudes that we should hold toward one another.
Cuphalffull I agree, your phenomenal leader personnifies(sp) the Beatitudes, I believe he lives his life in accordance with the teachings of our Lord, and the Golden Rule. His goodness, compassion and love are apparent in all he does from his passionate campaigning for and eventually passing of HCR to his interaction with the most vulnerable and disadvantaged of us. President Barack Obama is a rare and precious gem of a leader. May God bless, protect and guide him in all he does.
Oh my goodness Donna. Thank you for this video. Words do indeed have power and we have to be careful how we use them. Gosh I’m all slightly weepy here. I hope you and everyone have a great sunday; a great memorial day and hopefully we can all be kind to one another
Good Morning all, I hope everyone has a beautiful start to you day. I woke up on Europe time and reread all the wonderful comments that this community wrote in praise of our President and couldn’t go back to sleep. I was born in 1943 and I have witness many changes in my life time but I thank God for allowing me to live long enough to be in the Obama time. Each day is a true blessing and I will do everything I can to make sure he has another term to complete his Agenda for America. With the grace of God.
Sonjia Duncan, we all up here and everywhere else who support this President need to do all we can to help re-elect him, because it won’t be easy. But we have to be prepare for a battle, because those tea baggers republicans will play dirty and nasty. So we have to be fired up and ready to go, and by the grace of God we will be.
AnniebElla, I have gone to battle with these haters before. Fear not they did everything they could to make us surrender. You must truly believe and God will give you the strength and protection to achieve a victory for this president and our country.
Awww.. guys I just heard on the news that along with SecDef Bob Gates retiring in August(?), Chairman of The Joint Chiefs of Staff Admiral Mike Mullen is retiring in the fall. PBO might replace him with Army Chief of Staff Martin Dempsey. Why is everyone leaving? I know they have been serving for decades and want time to spend with their families.. but I’ll miss both of them. They were real stand up guys.
Admiral Mullen is term limited. But apparently, the man replacing him has a heart – Rachel featured him last week on her show, and showed him singing his heart out at an event (and quite well). She said if he could put his heart into singing like that, unashamedly so, then he can’t be bad. I do think President Obama will miss Adm. Mullen – they’ve accomplished a lot together, and have obvious respect for one another.
Chipsticks I love the 2 videos. I think the India video had music by Five for Fighting. (sounds like them to me) Can you tell me the artists and song titles? The Brazil music was SO beautiful.
And speaking of beautiful, Donna posted a beautiful video above. I could not understand what the women told the man when he asked what she did to his sign. I understand the message. Definitely food for thought that we can all remember. 🙂
Hi Ann, thrilled you liked the videos! You’re spot on, it’s Five for Fighting in the first video (Superman, It’s not easy) and the second is Nocturne by Secret Garden. Here you go:
Thanks Chipsticks! I like a few Five for Fighting songs. Especially “I Just Love You” and “The Riddle”. I just watched the videos. Thanks! Now I want to find the songs to add to my iPod. 🙂
Thanks for two wonderful videos that are such a great representation of how PBO is viewed by the world. Whether young or old, rich or poor and Political powerful or not, the smiles and pure joy on their faces as they all scramble for a brief opportunity to shake PBO’s hand or for a simple touch.
I truly believe that the repubs/teabaggers recognize this and it scares them to no ends, which is why they look for every opportunity to belittle and criticize PBO even if it makes them look mundane and hypocritical.
Oh, Chipsticks! I had to get out the kleenex for these two videos. I just watched Joplin live and was teary and then looked down through your posts to see what I had missed and watched these two. The Brazil trip with Nocturne is one of my favorites. And somehow I had missed that India video. As a matter of fact I don’t even remember him in Brazil — must have been something going on in my life so that I missed out on it. I’ll do some research on it.
They are making America cool again.
Thank you. What a nice way to end my evening.

Hey Chipsticks you forgot to add this:
Great work this week Chipsticks. You are a blessing to all of us. 🙂
I believe Chipsticks has this one. I’ve seen this before and I’m pretty sure it was on this site. Chips can verify of course.
The other two videos have been shown before as well.
I just meant for her to add it to the trips abroad list,
Chipsticks is such a “star”!

Good morning all,
It’s hard not to be moved by President Obama, but when you add the song Nocturne….wow…powerful combination.
Amazing images, amazing song.
Hey guys,
I came across this PSA video yesterday and although it isn’t about our beloved President Obama I just wanted to share it with you.
Very inspirational.
Oh my goodness Donna. Thank you for this video. Words do indeed have power and we have to be careful how we use them. Gosh I’m all slightly weepy here. I hope you and everyone have a great sunday; a great memorial day and hopefully we can all be kind to one another
Lovely. Thanks for sharing, Donna. Smooches.
*swallow* ‘THANKS! *swallow*
And have a good day yourself, Donna!
Lovely, Donna. Thank you so much for sharing!

Donna I just watch the psa and now I can’t stop crying.
I know what you mean Sonjia.
When i first saw it it got a sudden jolt to the heart.
It literally blew me away.
I mean to say “I got a sudden jolt to the heart.”

Hey Ann, the woman said “I wrote the same, but different words.” 🙂
Thanks UTA. 🙂

I mean I don’t remember him in India! I’m not sure what was going on then. I definitely remember Brazil.
