up, up and away….

Politicususa: A new Quinnipiac poll released today found that in one month President Obama’s approval rating in Florida has gone from 44% to 51%.

….. the President has experienced a net 16 point swing … he went from having a net negative approval rating of 44%-52% in April to having a positive 51%-43% job approval rating in May.

Obama has made up most of his ground with Independents, who swung a net 18 points in his direction. The president’s job approval rating with the state’s Independents has gone from 39%-55% in April to 47%-45% today. Obama also gained a net 12 points in Democratic approval from 79%-16% in April to 86%-11% today. Obama experienced a huge swing with men in the state. He has gained a net 22 points. The president has gone from a 19 point negative split in April, 39%-58% to 47%-45% today.

….Something interesting happens when Gov. Rick Scott’s approval numbers from the same poll are compared with Obama’s. As Obama was gaining a net 18 point in the state, Gov. Scott was losing 16 points. His approval rating has fallen to a Palin-like 29%. His disapproval rating (54%) almost mirrors Obama’s new approval rating (51%)….

Yup yup, all the testosterone loving men who have a hard on for all militaristic missions have swung back. To them, PBO is not only an American, he’s a Rambo.

I would think so. Now a lot of these “men” (the independents and moderates) consider him “macho” for acting like the stereotypical “MAN IN CHARGE.” It’s like guys, PBO has always been a MAN, has a BACKBONE and most importantly is an A-D-U-L-T.

    • May 26, 2011 at 6:47 pm

Yes. Alpha males love a strong decisive leader.

TO2012, he’s always been a “strong decisive leader.” The point being made was that just because repubs, moderates and independents don’t see PBO beating and thumping his chest like that idiotic yahoo cowboy Bush doesn’t mean he isn’t strong, decisive, in charge, and always has his eye on the ball.

      • May 27, 2011 at 5:11 am

      Hey barb,

While I have been long time supporter of PBO and greatly appreciate his intellectual approach and quiet demeanor. That said, there is something to be said about our president being somewhat of bad-ass in ordering seal team six to go into hostile territory and take Osama Bin Laden out.

      • 9 barb
        May 27, 2011 at 1:24 am

Naijas, yes that is the truth. It took a lot of courage for him to give the green light to such an operation not knowing 100% that Bin Laden was there. He planed that out with assistance and explored every option. I love the Seal team six and we are safer to have them. Reminds me when they took out the Somali Pirates.

hurray!!! meanwhile even though all national polls show PBo keeping or even increasing his so-called” bin Laden bump. Orangeglo is claiming their polls show him losing luster. Well, that’s the Professional left for you.

No wonder Grifter Palin wants to fire up her bus to re-launch the vitriol against President Obama, her stock in trade. She wants to get those men who have swung back to PBO, back to gawking at her leather jackets. After all they can’t have PBO floating up, up and away. Pathetic.

But as for PBO’s gesture above. I say preach on brotha, preach on. he’ll make a fine pastor after this presidenting gig.

Not trying to take away from this message but as women. I think this is important.

Tell Kansas State Rep. DeGraaf to apologize for comparing rape to a flat tire!

“Kansas State Representative Pete Degraaf said in a House debate that women should “plan ahead” for being raped and added that planning for rape is similar to having a spare tire on one’s car. Rep. DeGraaf’s terrible analogy is deeply offensive and disrespectful to all victims of sexual assault. He should apologize.”

How gross. What an imbecile. I have asked this question before and I still ask: How can anyone, especially a woman, vote for or be a republican?

      • 20 UT Austin Liberal
        May 26, 2011 at 7:21 pm

Thank you for posing that question POB. My friends and I constantly scratch our heads when we hear a woman be proud to call herself a republican. The republicans of today and some of the past are abhorrent in their politics and policies towards women. They claim to be heavily pro-life yet when the baby is out of the womb they vote to strip off healthcare and childcare funding. They pass laws that severely restrict the rights of a woman to have an abortion if she so chooses as guaranteed under the Roe vs. Wade law. Re: The new Texas sonogram law that makes you wait for 24 hours before you can have an abortion, you have to see the fetus’s beating heart, hear it on the ultrasound, hear the doctor give a spiel about the ramifications of the life you are destroying. Even in the case of rape or incest. It’s sickening. They vote to defund planned parenthood, they vote to defund Title X programs. And a woman still goes into the public arena, calls herself a republican and is proud to vote as one. It’s like the name of the a new anti-Sarah Palin book by one of her former followers: Blind Allegiance.

As a male, this infuriates me to NO end. Who the fuck does this clown think he is, “plan ahead” for being raped?

He should say that bullshit to the faces of Jaycee Dugard and Elizabeth Smart, but he doesn’t have the balls.

This kind of language from the Republicans is exactly why they are going to lose the female vote, they are proud to be misogynists and sexists. They see women as objects and tools as opposed to human beings.

I’m guessing he won’t apologize, and will whine about how “the eeeevil librul media took my remarks out of context.” He’s a pathetic excuse of a human being, and so is anyone who condones his remarks.

The last one hopefruit, the last one. My grandmother always says: “it gets worse before it gets better.” In the case of the repug party, I’m hoping that sentiment is true. Since PBO became president, their devolving as human beings and as a party has been swift and steady. I figure the social warfare ie: war against my uterus and gays and blacks and hispanics, the poor and the elderly. It is my sincere hope that these issues are the last death rattle of the repug party. I am hoping that out of the ashes of this disgusting party, will rise a moderately decent party that will be willing to put differences aside and work hard for the American people.

And it’s no irony that Florida governor Rick Scott has Bush level approvals there.

It’s just showing how much the people of the country appreciate President Obama over the Republicans. It’s clear that the 2010 midterms were a fluke, and that the Republicans mistook that fluke for a mandate to shove their anti union, anti woman, anti Medicare, just overall anti American agenda down the country’s throat.

At least three of the Repub governors elected last fall wouldn’t survive re-election now: Scott Walker, John Kasich, and Rick Scott. A bunch of the Republicans in Wisconsin are facing recall, and Speaker Boner and his cronies in the House are desperate to reframe the RyanScare Road to Ruin budget.

All our President needs to do is sit back and let the Republicans self destruct, and the Democrats need to continue to wrap the RyanScare Road to Ruin budget around the Republican’s necks, force them to own it. Most of the nation hates that budget proposal, yet the Republicans are still in denial of reality. They believe their teabagging constituents represent the country.

Speaking of which, Boner’s response to the NY26 shellacking was that the RyanScare Road to Ruin only played a SMALL part in that race, and that the tea party guy was more to blame. More evidence of their arrogance and denial of reality.

They are attacking the new healthcare plan any way they can, one being a new law effective in July forbidding any state or federal government insurance to pay for an abortion unless the woman’s life is at risk. Rape..no, incest..nada. People have to buy a separate policy because they want to PROTECT those who are against abortion from increased insurance premiums. I’m in Dem. Lawrence outlined the entire scenario. He said when Roger Ailes of FOX cut Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich loose in March, that said all we need to know about who is running for Prez. Palin is still an employee of FOX. Lawrence said, and I agree, she hasn’t been getting enough attention recently, so she has to do something. He also said notice her bus tour route: D.C. to the northeast….that’s not where you go to get Republican votes, that’s where you go to get all of the press. Once again, the political press will be taken for a ride….of their own stupidity.

Hello TOD family. Long time follower, first time poster. I know this is a little off topic, and I kept wanting to submit it yesterday, but was a little nervous because I have never posted on a blog before, but I just had to tell you guys how wonderful I think you all are.

I discovered this site about 8 months ago and I visit multiple times daily for updates. Ms. Chipsticks (God bless her wonderful spirit), really does an extraordinary job with this site, especially keeping out the venom and the hate against the president, which is why I stopped watching any MSM news programs a year ago as they are just full of crap! My day starts and ends with this blog. Every morning, I fix myself a cup of coffee and check in to begin my day with Ms. Chips and then BWD. I check in throughout the day (sometimes as many as 10 times) to see Ms. Chips and BWD updates. And at night before I shut down my computer and retire for the night, I check in for the final time and thank the powers that be for the powerful loving spirit that is TOD and BWD.

I am on vacation this week, and had big plans about things I needed to get done at home during my time off. Needless to say, I got absolutely nothing done. Instead, I was literally glued to my computer all day Monday, Tuesday and a large part of Wednesday, positively captivated by the warmth of the Irish and the Queen. I was so proud of the President and the First Lady and my heart was so full of them. I loved the rousing Irish welcome and the honor and respect bestowed on them by the Queen and the Brits. It was glorious! Also while I was watching I was also reading the comments. I was touched, really really touched by the love, loyalty and protectiveness you all have for this magnificent man and his equally wonderful wife. You guys brought tears to my eyes, joy to my heart and made me laugh. You guys Rock!!

Seniorforobama Welcome. This site is a godsend, I agree.

You brought tears to my eyes with your beautiful post, as a Brit with Irish ancestory your kind comments about your great President’s visit here made me happy. I was so fortunate to be in London when PBO was here, infact I was right by the barrier at Buckingham Palace when he left for Westminster Abbey and saw him in the Beast. I don’t know what came over me as I am usually really reserved and quiet but everyone was shouting and screaming ‘Obama’ and I shouted I love you. He turned and looked out of his window in my direction. I swear he heard me he was so close to where we were. i imediately burst into tears of joy.

Back at my son’s school the next day – he came with me to London – my son must have been telling everyone because at pick up time everyone was wanting to talk to me about seeng PBO, even the head saw me waiting and came out to talk with me. It was nice but embarrassing as I really don’t like being the center of attention. I will chat on here about my love for Obama but am reserved in person (unless someone disrespects him, then I will defend him as I would my own family or friends!!)

Bless you Seniorforobama, you are so welcome here and please excuse my long post.

That is really encouraging – thank you for posting. I missed it – I find Talking Points Memo a good source of information and knowledge.

Senior4Obama, I was the same….reading, and reading, and hardly able to believe my good luck finding this place. Once I posted two or three times, I felt quite at home, and love it! I also look at this last before I go to bed, because it leaves me feeling good! I am also a “senior” who thinks this President is the best I can remember…and I can remember quite a few. I am thankful every day that I lived long enough and healthy enough to enjoy this Age of Obama!

Senior4Obama, let me join in the chorus of welcomes. I agree with all that has been expressed, but I’m sure most here would agree that our words fail to fully measure what our hearts feel. For everyday we are blessed to be alive and aware in the Age of Obama, are graced by the efforts and energy of Chipsticks and BWD to inform and delight, and are able to share and expand our joys here in friendship and community.
