Here is a video of President Sarkozy working the crowd prior to his guest arrival.

Before the critic and comparison one must understand that America is unique and established in pressing the flesh tactics in politics. That being said most Europeans politicians are not master of the pressing the flesh-game. It is something rather new and evolving here.

In the president of the republics defense, he is a quick learner.

    • May 26, 2011 at 9:26 am

“That being said most Europeans politicians are not master of the pressing the flesh-game. It is something rather new and evolving here.”

      ?????

European politicians have been ‘pressing the flesh’ since I was a baby …. and that’s not today nor yesterday!

      • May 26, 2011 at 9:31 am

Why do you always attack my comments as a personal insult or something? It is becoming rather annoying and you should lighten up. I have made every attempt to be your friend and a friend of this community but your being a zealot is just as dangerous as the far right. In that I mean scrutiny and verifying is one thing but without provocation it is rude and boorish.

What I was trying to say is that European Pols are more standoffish than Americans who typical and normally are masters at pandering to the various special interest. Not many European politicians do that – at least not successful ones.

        Lee

        • May 26, 2011 at 9:33 am

          Oh dear.

You made a sweeping statement about European politicians, which in my opinion (and experience) was incorrect. Europe is made up of lots of countries, and every one has its own characteristics – not all Europeans are the same. Some are more reserved than others, so, naturally, their politcians share those characteristics. eg Irish, Italian, Spanish politicians would be among the world’s leading flesh-pressers!

Don’t lose the head just because someone disagrees with you!

The one word that can be heard in the videos is “Obama”…..I admit, it does roll off the tongue much smoother than Sarkozy or Medvedev….but I don’t think that is what makes the difference. Sarkozy will be running for re-election soon, and is learning from the master. He is in political trouble with very low poll numbers. Like Prime Minister Cameron, he is hoping for some reflected sun to shine on him.

    • 42 lisalovesobama
      May 26, 2011 at 10:20 am

I heard that Sarkozy’s numbers are around 30 or below. Strauss-Kahn, had he not be le perve -(allegedly)- would have beaten him quite handily. Sarkozy’s probably hoping that PBO’s star dust will rub off on him. Unfortunately, you can paint and add a new fender and tires to a junk yard car, but if the engine is crap, you’re SOL. 😦

I think I heard on the video Sarkosky teasing Obama about being the reason for them being late to the meeting LOLOLOL Obama is like the prettiest girl at the party ;o)

  15. May 26, 2011 at 10:15 am

For those who love genealogy ….

The president is a product of the “melting pot”: 50% African by his father, and by his mother: 38% English, 5% German, 2% Cherokee and 1% … FRENCH, with ancestors in the cities of Vaucluse, Reims, Nantes, Laval and Alsace. Three French kings are also mentioned as ancestors.

    http://www.lepoint.fr/actualites-region/genealogie-obama-le-nantais/1556/0/295377

President Barack Obama descends from Marin Duval, a Huguenot of Nantes,France who had fled religious persecution in the seventeenth century and took refuge in England before leaving for Maryland where he married Suzanne Brasseur whose family had its roots near Carpentras.

Another of his ancestors, Christian Gutknecht, was a manufacturer of tobacco at Bischwiller in the current Department of Bas-Rhin and emigrated to Philadelphia in 1749, where Guthknecht (“good servant”) became Goodknight, and eventually… Goodnight!

      May 26, 2011 at 10:29 am

Let’s not spread the French ancestors. You remember how the French are perceived by the uneducated in America. That being said, I am taking my Mom to France in October for her 60th b-day. I love love love Paris. But I have to admit after seeing the POTUS and FLOTUS in Ireland I was wishing I was taking her there instead. Oh well, next time.

      • May 26, 2011 at 10:46 am

Dublin’s only an hour and a bit from Paris Anita, can you make it – yes you can! 😆 Hope you and your Mom have a wonderful trip, France is one of my favourite places on earth.

          May 26, 2011 at 11:18 am

Yeah, I did Dublin and UK several years ago and it was an excellent adventure. Especially Dublin. The people were so warm and friendly. I had a friend who had got married and moved to Dublin so while she worked during the day I went out sight-seeing. She was always amazed when we met in the evening and I would give her all the gossip from the taxi drivers, bus drivers and just people I met on the street. It was hilarious.

This time unfortunately we are doing a tour package, which is why I hate tour packages. But my Mom made the arrangements and I wrote the check. I really hate organized fun. But I will suck it up for my Mom.

Virtually every African American in the States is a product of the ‘melting pot’….don’t need genealogy for that.

Just look at the wide spectrum of complexion tones as well as features and hair textures.

Funny thing is…no one in America was talking about AfricanAmericans being ‘mutts’ as POTUS put it, until he was elected and they were quite chagrined when he check black on the U.S. Census.

POTUS calls BS when he sees/hears it…and ‘melting pot’ is just that!

Whoopee! I share the French Huguenot, English and German with the President!!! I love it that he is such a mosaic like so many Americans…Seems everyone wants to claim him now…..my, my, how things change!
I was so touched by his statement yesterday, and it was the one applause line during the speech: “That is why a grandson of a Kenyan who cooked for the British Army could become President of the United States.” I treasure that freedom for one of the poorest to become the most powerful. I pray we never become the oligarchy or plutocracy some in this country want us to be.

Ok, ladies, you all are about to give your senior auntie a heart attack. You make me laugh our loud with a sweet respect. But I really do think that I need to place a call to the WH switchboard and leave a message for FLOTUS to please check on all flights to France and Poland for a full flight of beautiful ladies. Have a great day, my dear ones. You all make this senior rejoice in the hope that you all have for your leader and your country.

I forgot my first thoughts. Sue and Barb you have my prayers and love coming your way. Keep safe and know that prayers and good thoughts are coming to both of you.

Just saw more pixs at Daily Life and I wonder what Italian PM keeps trying to discuss with POTUS. He is in literally 7 pages at different times. There’s something he wants POTUS to do. I wonder wonder wonder what it could be.

Just watch the U.S./Russia bilateral meeting. Dimitri doesn’t look too happy and I’m guessing it’s Lybia.
