night everyone

President Obama arrives for a dinner hosted by President Nicolas Sarkozy and his wife Carla Bruni-Sarkozy in Deauville

Hello people, before I say a hearty goodnight, just a word – or several!

Since this blog started up, I’ve only ‘banned’ a single person – if you don’t count the troubled teabagger and professional leftie visitors who automatically end up in the junk folder, along with all those nice people trying to promote willy-growth products. There’s a link there, but I’ll behave.

Other than teabaggers, professional lefties and willy-growth promoters, I don’t want to ban anyone, I never, ever dreamt of being a ‘mod’ when I was growing up. Honest. The person in question, though, launched one too many attacks on fellow visitors to this blog, before sending me a parting message that focused largely on the hue of the President’s skin. Strange.

As you all know, this blog is proudly pro-President Obama – as I always say, there are countless other sites to visit if you want to spew bile all over him, or his supporters. But this place is designed to be a refuge from all that hate, and will always remain so.

All I ask is that people who comment here show respect for each other – and almost everyone of you does. But, please, no more “lighten up” comments (deleted) in response to sincere people who express from-the-heart opinions about an issue, just respectfully argue things out without abusing each other. Please?

Much as I hate doing it, I will ban people who bring hostility and nastiness to this place. I almost dished out a second ban today, but took a deep breath – we’ll see. Remember, this is a hate-free zone 😉

Thanks everyone, see you tomorrow.

up, up and away….

Politicususa: A new Quinnipiac poll released today found that in one month President Obama’s approval rating in Florida has gone from 44% to 51%.

….. the President has experienced a net 16 point swing … he went from having a net negative approval rating of 44%-52% in April to having a positive 51%-43% job approval rating in May.

Obama has made up most of his ground with Independents, who swung a net 18 points in his direction. The president’s job approval rating with the state’s Independents has gone from 39%-55% in April to 47%-45% today. Obama also gained a net 12 points in Democratic approval from 79%-16% in April to 86%-11% today. Obama experienced a huge swing with men in the state. He has gained a net 22 points. The president has gone from a 19 point negative split in April, 39%-58% to 47%-45% today.

….Something interesting happens when Gov. Rick Scott’s approval numbers from the same poll are compared with Obama’s. As Obama was gaining a net 18 point in the state, Gov. Scott was losing 16 points. His approval rating has fallen to a Palin-like 29%. His disapproval rating (54%) almost mirrors Obama’s new approval rating (51%)….

there may be trouble ahead…

NY Mag: From the Time Capsule: Dominique Strauss-Kahn Meets Barack and Michelle Obama at a dinner during the G-20 conference in September 2009. Some pictures say a thousand words. This one just says two: No Touching.

Thank you Proud 😉

Although Michelle knows how to handle creeps …. remember her keeping Berlusconi at arm’s length?

muppet show update

Steve Benen: Gallup has a new poll this morning, asking Republicans who they prefer among their GOP presidential hopefuls. It’s the first national poll taken after several prominent figures – Huckabee, Daniels, Trump, etc.  withdrew from consideration. I found the results rather interesting:

1. Mitt Romney — 17%
2. Sarah Palin — 15%
3. Rand Paul — 10%
4. Newt Gingrich — 9%
5. Herman Cain — 8%
6. Tim Pawlenty — 6%
7. Michele Bachmann — 5%
8. Jon Huntsman — 2%
8. Gary Johnson — 2%
8. Rick Santorum — 2%

…Herman Cain, for example, has a lot more support than I would have expected…Campaign reporters are closely following Pawlenty and Huntsman, but Gallup shows Cain’s support matching Pawlenty’s and Huntsman’s totals combined.

Also note Palin’s second-place showing, nearly matching Romney … after all of this time as a national laughingstock, the former half-term governor is still one of the top GOP presidential candidates at the national level … Palin still has a following, ridiculous though it may be.
