change …… :-)

Channel Four (UK): You get a flavour of why David Cameron might be so keen to bask in Barack Obama‘s glory on this trip in various photo ops. We asked YouGov to repeat a poll they did in November 2003 when President George W Bush was in town and see how the numbers changed. It suggests that Brits love Obama as much as they hated Bush.

The 2003 poll suggested that 75 per cent polled had little or no confidence in President Bush. Today 72 per cent have a great deal or fair mount of confidence in President Obama. In today’s poll, 81 per cent think President Obama is highly intelligent, back in 2003 17 per cent thought the US had got itself an highly intelligent president. You get the picture.

Hi Chip! There was mention on MSNBC of a state dinner POTUS will be hosting in honor of the Queen today. Do you know anything about it? Will you post a link to live coverage? Thank you! 😀

I think President Obama is a divine human being. His level of intelligence can’t be over looked. He is not only such a great orator, but he exhumes so much dignity and grace. America is blessed to call him her own!

Hello, first-time poster just wanting to say what a great site this is for people who want to know what’s REALLY going on with our great President. The U.S. mainstream media is worthless.

I’m sure there are others like me who may not post but who really appreciate the wealth of information (and photos!) and the time and effort that go into bringing them here.

    Thank you Chipsticks!

Welcome. Glad you landed here, and I absolutely agree with your assessment of our corporate media. They have an agenda and it doesn’t respect the role information plays in our free Democracy. I hope that you will encourage others to join us here, those that are seriously interested in a better America. Chipsticks, you deserve a medal
for all you do and inspire. (And I will not give up hope that you and BWD will one day have a sit down with POTUS and FLOTUS….still sending my e-mails to Whitehouse.gov)

        May 25, 2011 at 3:35 pm

I’m so disgusted with our corporate media, even our “liberal”—-hahahaha—network, msnbc, has been worthless during this trip. They didn’t even bother to show the Obama/Cameron press conference, and you would never know that President Obama addressed Parliament, the first U.S. President invited to do so. Every anchor, include some I used to have some hope for (Tamron Hall), have only mentioned the 2 “gaffes” —-signing the wrong date on the guest book—hahahahaha—-and the musical toast—-hahahaha. Andrea Mitchell was aghast about the musical toast and mentioned it 3 times. She is not an Obama fan, to put it mildly. But that is all the reporting they’re doing on this remarkable stop, Ireland they avoided almost completely. There is no concern for truthful reporting, factual reporting, the big things happening right under their noses. They’re always searching high and low for some perceived error by Barack or Michelle. I am so disgusted with the whole lot of them.

          May 25, 2011 at 4:14 pm

And when the MSM chooses to focus on these so-called “gaffes” they only wind up highlighting their own insularity, childishness and pettiness. They only manage to elevate their targets in trying to tear them down.

Dotster, for the first time today I felt some sympathy for the average voter who may not really ‘know’ the President, and who uses regular media to ‘inform’ him/herself. I went to a lab to do some medical test earlier this morning and the television was on. Now I haven’t watched TV in YEARS and I don’t read the newspaper because the journalists’ ignorance vis-a-vis PBO enrages me so this was a ‘first’. The only things the two airheaded journalists had to say about the visit on the 7:30am news was that the President had a ‘senior moment’ so he signed the register ‘2008’, and at least Michelle Obama didn’t hug the queen this time. Apparently she was so terribly gauche as to throw her arm around the queen last time. Forced to sit there and listen to them it occurred to me that I should try not to condemn those who haven’t the time, or don’t realize the necessity, to seek out the real news about the visit. I pictured the busy young parents who hustle through their day, then put the kids to bed and take some time to listen to the nightly news in an effort to be aware and responsible. From what I’ve been reading here since the visit started, these type of comments have been the norm in the ‘lamestream media’. If this is all they get, and from reporters they think are being honest, I concluded that I shouldn’t really blame them when they make dumb political decisions. Not everyone can invest the time we do to find out the real story, and even those who make the effort are not being well-served by our media. I have a friend, an Obama supporter, who spends an hour each night listening to the news before retiring, and who speaks with great confidence and assurance as a result. She drives me crazy with her knowledgeable comments (not) about the President’s decisions and accomplishment to the point where I don’t discuss him with her. You see, she is very opinionated and, after all, she ‘listens to different sources and makes allowances for biases’.

By the way, did I mention that this was part of international news and the station to which I was listening was a really, truly Canadian station? Sigh!

Maybe you can share this site with your friend. Her hour each night would be better spent on the internet. I share with my uninformed friends almost daily. Many of them are accessing this site regularly now. 🙂

I took this approach as well.

I send them links repeatedly from TOD until they learn to go there daily themselves.

It only takes a few times to cover news they never ever heard and actually see the POTUS doing what they did not hear on the news for them to adapt new sources of information.

Particularly, the opinionated ones…as they do not like being out of the loop repeatedly and after challenging the veracity having to google and find out..yep! Those were the facts, not the hogwash they believed.

Such a delight when that happens…I keep moist handiwipes for the expressions on their faces…teehee

How can this country not recognize the true brilliance of this man. Our media distorts and lies? We voted for Bush and the world saw right through him and with Obama the world loves him and this county can’t see his goodness. I blame the media and their audacity to lie and nitpick on everything Obama. I just can’t understand how they can be so malicous and not worry about the conseguences? It disgusts me.

A Q for any Brits reading…Has any PM ever had a BBQ for “the troops” at #10 before? It’s not something that would be mentioned in the US press and I wondered if it happened at the suggestion of the Obamas as that’s the sort of thing they do.

    Hello Chip & TODers

Just discovered this wonderful site!! As a big fan/supporter of President Obama and family it has been a delight to discover this site during this momentous European trip. Many of you probably have shared the frustrations I j=have had in finding positive coverage of the Presidents activities, and even a harder time in finding such coverage that did not have a bunch of trolls/tea baggers/critics flooding the comments with their negativity.

Thank you all so much for creating this haven community!!

Welcome Naijas. Thank you for joining our lovely, spirited and whiplash BRILLIANT community. We here love POTUS and FLOTUS and are tired of the nasty and negative comments leveled at him by the MSM. Chipsticks, the blog’s creator is fantastic. She keeps this website free of trolls and teabaggers. She is always supersonic fast with the latest news, articles, videos and pictures of the wonderful Obama Administration. If you have time, I hope you can browse through past posts and threads. It will fill your heart with joy and uplift your spirits. Once again a big and hearthy WELCOME. 🙂

About the US “mainstream media” coverage… there is no such thing. The “mainstream media” is owned by corporate wealth and they have their own agenda. Don’t forget that MSNBC was purchased by Comcast. The people at the helm of Comcast are the same folks who helped raise $$$ for republican interests in the last two major elections. The purpose is to control information to the viewing audience. If it weren’t for the internet and sites like this one, there would be NO positive info or coverage for those of us who thirst for it. Thank you for providing this site as a refuge. I drag my hubby to the computer every time he’s home to show him what’s happening via your site. He’s totally amazed at what’s not covered on TV! I also share your posts via e-mail distribution and Facebook. THANK YOU!!!
