I’m listening to them on tv3 discuss “Obama”.. I have a difficult time listening to this sort of stuff, it all sounds rather manipulative and overly descriptive of motives, etc. Our pundits do it too and In my opinion are rarely correct. It’s interesting to hear how they speak of him though in other countries- how they present him to their own people.. (better than they do in America) although I’m not sure I agree necessarily with their version either.
RTE’s reporting is much better. Not as petty as TV3.
I think tv3 must have received our strongly worded messages of disgust at their shabby coverage of our President…

I can’t even bear to look at them anymore Chi. I don’t know that Vincent guy (a bitter Clintonite?), but the woman with the short blonde hair, Terry Prone, is just a nasty, cynical piece of work. I laughed out loud when she praised Enda Kenny and said he spoke more impressively than the President … she and her son run a communications company and one of her clients is….. Enda Kenny. Good grief.

And for Enda Kenny who I think has stuck up a decent relatonship with President Obama, how does he explain his continued relationship with this woman who claims to be a “communications expert” but obviously lacks any ability to diplomatically support what I must think is her most important clien at the moment…

Hi Chi, her main job over the years has been to teach Irish poliiticians how to avoid answering questions in interviews – that’s some legacy, she must be so proud.
To be honest, I just think Enda Kenny is a fool, I have no time for him – I cringe every time he appears on my screen. The only good thing I can say about him is that he’s not corrupt, like some of his predecessors.

I don’t know what some of you are complaining about. The commentators are not that bad and they’re pretty fair and complementary to the President and the FLOTUS. I think we’re a bit sensitive.

I did listen from the beginning. I think they’re discussing the difficulties the President and the First Lady faced and they were pointing out the ugly campaign. THey were not condoning it in anyway.
I think we’re becoming over protective because of all the ugliness from the right and some of the deranged left, so we have developed a natural instinct to defend the President and the First Lady. But I find these pundits very harmless, and in fact supportive. They’re called out the American media’s shameful treatment of Michelle Obama, so I am not sure why is that an issue. What’s wrong of pointing out that Michelle Obama is so smart and accomplished but her role is limited due to the limitations of being a first lady, where she cannot be involved in policy? If I remember correctly, they’ve also pointed out that she would be a great candidate for president, if she chose to run, and if she overcomes the sexism of the media.

Our own media really disappointed me on this Presidential Trip. POTUS is visiting one of his ancestral places and no cable news station is showing any footage. When it came to the royal wedding they covered it ad nauseam.
Ok this guy better not compare Obama’s foreign policy style to Bush’s style. Iraq was an unjustified war. Libya was justified because Gadaffi was going to annihilate 300,000 ppl in Bengahzi. President Obama is NOT a dictator.
Why can’t they go to live shots of where the concert will be or who might be there or some other drivel? Some Irish history would be nice. Talk with the locals. Anything except this.
