Grr …. WordPress still can’t figure out why so many of you are having trouble with this site. They say they’ve tested it with all the major browsers and it’s working fine. (But it’s not!)
Here are some tips from the WordPress support page if you want to try them – sorry again for all the problems.
WordPress support: Some issues that you encounter with your WordPress.com blog or account can be solved by changing your browser settings, refreshing the page, or clearing the browser cache and cookies.
Note: We recommend that you use Firefox for optimal performance with WordPress.com.
A force refresh or reload will cause the browser to re-check with the web server to make sure it has the latest copy of the web page you are viewing:
Windows: Ctrl + F5
Mac/Apple: Apple + R or Cmd + R
Clear Your Cache and Cookies: Each time you access a web page, your web browser stores a temporary copy of the files needed to display the web page to you. Those temporary files are called the browser cache. If your cache is not updating properly or if it’s stuck, you could be viewing an older version of some of the supporting files.
If you are experiencing problems displaying WordPress.com pages, clearing the browser cache is a good first step to try to resolve the issue. If that doesn’t help, you should also try clearing the browser cookies. Instructions for clearing cache and cookies are different for each browser and version. Google has outlined the steps for all major browsers – see here
More Troubleshooting: If you are still having trouble, here are a few more things you can try –
Upgrade your browser and Flash Player to the latest version available….
Try an alternate browser. If it works, then the issue is with the browser settings.
We appreciate you gremlins and all, lol. Not going anywhere. Thanks for all you do. You make our day everyday. You help keep our hope alive.
😆 Thank you for being so nice to my gremlins, Doris! You’re lovely 😉
I’VE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH THIS SITE…BUT, I SURE LOVE THAT SWEET GREMLIN!
You and that gremlin, Sue! 😆
He’s so cute!
I think that little gremlin is adorable…and I’ve never had a problem with this site.
I no longer am having problems. I did clear my browser cache and cookies. That gremlin is cute…except for the eyes – too spooky/crazy. (I’m saying kind words – so don’t jinx me gremlin!) 🙂
Oh, that’s great GGail – no, not your fear of gremlin eyes, the fact that the site is working for you 😆
LOL! you’re happy that the site is working for me and you’re laughing at my fear of the gremlin!!! I still love you Chipsticks 🙂
I’ve tried explorer, safari, and firefox which I’ve been using for years. I’ve cleared the cache
and cookies and am still experiencing problems. There is a three inch black border on the right, and the font is much smaller than before. Something is definitely wrong, and it’s not browser related since no other websites have changed appearance.
Thanks for your efforts, but it is still a problem.
JJ
Thank you so much JJ, I just emailed WordPress again PLEADING for help! Can you remember when these problems started JJ?
JJ
How about adjusting your zoom or your view. Click reset zoom. I think something trickes it to off set the zoom view.
I have the same problems. IE, Firefox and Chrome are not working right. Clearing the cache did not help. I have the three inch black border on the right and small font. Photos that are posted have some of the right side missing. The name of the site in the red space is missing along with the picture to the right. I have no problems with any other sites that I visit.
I have the same problem in Firefox, Chrome, and Safari. I have tried all of the suggestions, nothing works.
Oh yeah, I have that black border too and the font size is smaller. But as long as I can see what Chips puts up, I’m HAPPY!
Sorry about the glitches Chipsticks. I know how frustrating it could be for those trying to access the site. I’ve been there but thankfully it’s been smooth sailing for a while.
By the way do you know what time the President and First Lady are leaving for Ireland?
Thanks Donna, it’s all soooooooooooo frustrating!!!
Here you go:
10:05PM THE PRESIDENT and THE FIRST LADY depart the White House en route Andrews Air Force Base
South Lawn
10:20PM THE PRESIDENT and THE FIRST LADY depart Andrews Air Force Base en route Dublin, Ireland
Thanks Chips 🙂
I wonder is CNN online will have any footage of their departure.
Totally OT: First Lady Michelle Obama is going to be giving a tribute to Beyonce at the Billboard Music Awards tonight on ABC. It comes on at 8pmET/7pmCT/5pmPT. I am sooo excited to see FLOTUS.
Also for music lovers: Nicki Minaj, Rihanna, Beyonce (maybe), Taio Cruz, Black Eyed Peas, Keith Urban, Jennifer Lopez, Pitbull, Britney Spears(maybe), Lady Antebellum, Cee Lo Green, Ke$ha, Linkin Park, Far East Movement and One Republic are going to perform. Should be fun. 😀
Thanks for that UT. I’ll check it out.
You’re welcome Donna. 🙂
Hey, Chipsticks, I know you posted the Prez’s Ireland schedule somewhere but I can’t find it. I want to catch their activities real time. Thanks.
Oh, and I noticed CNN has been previewing his trip this evening. MSM just makes me barf.
Just posted it again Proud, there are no exact times yet but as soon as I see them I’ll post them too.
You’re so cool!!!
I’m down the street from Andrews Air Force Base and I saw a big fuel tanker flying low heading out. I think they are in full preparation for this evening. I’ll be watching the skies and sending up prayers from all of us tonight.
Thanks a lot Chipsticks for the tips! followed what you suggested and I am happy to announce the instant eradication of the “black holes” which had taken over my video.
I hope you know that your commitment and contribution as the host of this site is very much appreciated. we may not say this publicly enough but what a tremendous service you offer.
Whooo hoooo, the black holes are gone?! 😆
That is a HUGE relief Linda, thank you so much for letting me know.
And thank you for your lovely message, appreciate it so much – it’s a pleasure spending time in you good people’s company 😉
Hey, Chipsticks –
Sorry for all the frustration. You work so hard to bring us all this good joy, it’s too bad you have the frustration of computer problems. I think the most important question is – did WordPress implement an upgrade on their site? First question you ask when you’re troubleshooting new problems in an established system is – what changed? If it was working before for everyone and then it stopped working at some point, without your users doing anything different, then it stands to reason that WordPress did something different. I don’t recall that this month’s Microsoft updates had a browser update. I don’t know when other browsers release updates. Not that saying it might be due to a WordPress upgrade is going to be of any help. I think the best suggestion is get the latest updates for the operating system and the browser, and reboot. Also try deleting the temporary internet files and cookies.
Hitting cntrl and f5 did it for me. Thanks Chips, and good nite. Ireland tomorrow, a pleasant change of pace 😀
I have windows and IE and it seems to be back to normal!!! yay
