parish news

This is from the Irish news tonight. The video quality is terrible, but you have to hear the priest at the start, he completely cracked me up. When he reads out the parish news every week it’s usually filled with announcements like “cake sale at Mary Mac’s in the morning”.

Oh that was funny. Here’s hoping and praying the weather is good tomorrow. And, I’m glad President Obama’s cousin got a ticket to see him. How did they give out 3000 tickets when there are only 300 people in the town?

I do not know what has happened to my browser when I try to view the embedded video about Ireland – I always get a “black hole”. I know I need to polish up on my physics but surely internet provider, this is not the best way to get me to the lab!

Oh Linda, weird things have been happening for lots of people on the site recently, I’ve asked WordPress for help in solving the problems but – so far – they can’t figure them out. The site works fine for some people, but is full of glitches for others. It’s driving me NUTS! Sorry about this Linda, still hoping to get it fixed – soon!

funny thing is that I am able to access most of the videos but anything else about the good people of Ireland and their welcome for the First Family is jamming; problem is that I am super excited about the stuff happening on the ground and I want to know “everything”. may be I need to trace my own roots to some part of Ireland and then the gods can hear my plea

Linda, I just put up a new post with some tips from WordPress for people having trouble viewing their blogs (or videos on the blogs) – have a quick look and see if any of them help.

thanks a lot for the tips. I followed the suggestions and now I am able to play the videos – yes including the giggles of the Parish Priest. as a catholic, the presence of th Priest in the video reminds me that I must confess that I have so far run each of the previously uncoporative Ireland videos 4 times in the last few minutes.

My computer needs an overhaul. Could someone please tell me what the good Father has to say.
Is is about the weather and THE VISIT? Thanks in advance.

    • May 22, 2011 at 5:26 pm

Hiya Barb, so sorry you’re having trouble too with videos, etc – if I don’t these glitches fixed soon I’ll scream!

The priest is reading out the parish notes and says about President Barack Obama arriving in Moneygall tomorrow – and then he just starts giggling because he can’t believe it, and the congregation starts laughing too. It’s only a few seconds, but it made me πŸ˜†

Well Chipsticks said that normally the sunday announcements would be a bake sale or cake sale. But this sunday’s announcement was extra special. The Priest said “On Monday President Obama – (he then starts laughing in an I can’t believe this is really going to happen and everyone in the church laugh with him also)- will be coming to Moneygall.”

The video continued on with Irish Dancers for Obama showcasing the dance they put togther for the POTUS and FLOTUS. Then it talked about how POTUS’s visit is making the local economy boom. T-shirts are selling like hot cake but most Americans really like and purchase a lot of the shirts with the words “IS Fiedir Lin” (sp?) which means “Yes We Can” They talked about how Moneygall has been spruced up extra special for the POTUS and the house where POTUS’s ancestors lived is being guarded by security and all of Moneygall is on lock down with lots of security. They also talked about weather conditions and how it was windy but the people of Moneygall are resilient and will find other ways to get POTUS into the village.

Hope this summary helped Barb. πŸ˜€

Hmm.. well in all the coverage I haven’t seen a wedding band πŸ˜‰ but he could have a GF, BF, fiancee, or just not wear a wedding band. You know what? since Google has an answer for EVERYTHING… maybe just google him. I’ll be helpful and provide a link: http://www.google.com Goodluck! πŸ™‚

Me4obama- Henry Healey seems like a very astute young man (he’s 26).. he has apparently been responsible for a lot of this- the coming together of the town, etc. He is obviously a leader, comees across as well spoken and bright~ good luck – I hope you take an opportunity to try and get to know him πŸ™‚

I would seriously love one of those t-shirts. Anyone checked out whether they are available to us in the US?

Moneygalls 75-year-old Sadie Williams, says she thinks she’s Barack Obama’s oldest living relative in Ireland. She is Henry Healy’s Aunt. This video spotlights 13 cousins.

I liked this bit in article # 3

‘After the political business of talks with Prime Minister David Cameron on Wednesday, Obama will receive the rare honour of addressing both houses of parliament in Westminster Hall.

Only Charles De Gaulle, Nelson Mandela and Pope Benedict XVI have received the same rare privilege since World War II.’

The other one is verified. Something is wrong. I am NOT switching between the two, I only want the VERIFIED account.

Someone with your other gravatar(TO2012) posted on the other “APAIC Speech” thread. The person said they were a lifelong Repub who was not going to vote for PBO in 2012 if he didn’t stand up to Israel. Was that you by any chance?

CNN is airing a story on Moneygall, ooh hoo. This is huge guys, this is a BFD.

  15. May 22, 2011 at 6:10 pm

Honestly I heard through sources this evening that MONEYGALL is the narrative which the press wants and have relayed this to the WH. No other point of the presidents trip, not even the queen, is more exciting according to my press contacts.

Thus I doubt the WH could scrub the MONEYGALL whistle stop. The largest contingent of reports are in Moneygall, from there the press corps will thin out, not too much but the feel good story is in MONEYGALL.

It’s a great story. I’m sure the entire trip will be wonderful, but I have to admit I am hope the town of Moneygall have their moment in the spotlight. Seriously good for them.

I wish our corporate media would cover this trip, in all it’s spendor and cheering for our great president. America needs to see how the rest of the world responds to this great man. Thanks for this, chipsticks! xxx

Totally OT: First Lady Michelle Obama is going to be giving a tribute to Beyonce at the Billboard Music Awards tonight on ABC. It comes on at 8pmET/7pmCT/5pmPT. I am sooo excited to see FLOTUS.

Also for music lovers: Nicki Minaj, Rihanna, Beyonce (maybe), Taio Cruz, Black Eyed Peas, Keith Urban, Jennifer Lopez, Pitbull, Britney Spears(maybe), Lady Antebellum, Cee Lo Green, Ke$ha, Linkin Park, Far East Movement and One Republic are going to perform. Should be fun. πŸ˜€
