‘which page is he on today?’

NYT: The new political group co-founded last month by two former aides to President Obama is unleashing its first television broadside against Republicans today, attacking former Gov. Mitt Romney of Massachusetts on health care and needling former House Speaker Newt Gingrich in the process.

Officials with the group, Priorities USA Action, said that the advertisement was meant to coincide with Mr. Romney’s planned campaign-style visit to South Carolina this weekend, and that it will run on local stations there. Bill Burton, a co-founder of the group and a former White House deputy press secretary for Mr. Obama, declined to say how much the group was spending on the spot but said, “If you’re in South Carolina while Mitt Romney is in South Carolina and you watch the news, you’re going to see this ad.”

You can add John Huntsman to the “what page is he on today?” I saw part of his interview with George Stephanopoulous on GMA today and when George asked him about accepting the stimulus money and saying that the overall stimulus package should have been bigger; he tried to walk it back by saying that he meant corporate tax cuts should have been bigger. George then corrected him saying that wasn’t what was reported by many conservative reporters.. and he kinda stumbled and muttered “ehhh.. they didn’t understand me.. I wasn’t praising the stimulus.. I wouldn’t do that”. Then when George asked him if he had rejected the Mormon faith, he paused for a while then said “I am a Christian. I believe in God. blah blah blah.. I’m….. a Mormon. blah blah blah. It’s like dude it’s a simple ‘yes’ or ‘no’ answer. Then he walked back his position on cap and trade.. but still kinda lamely stuck to his soft guns on gay rights and civil unions. Gosh.. He’s Utah’s version of Romney. freakin flip flopper.

Sounds like he’s not ready for prime time. What a very awkward interview. As to the ad up above it seems like a doozy. I’m glad it’s not just internet ad and will be running in S.C. all day.

It is sickeneing to see people like Huntsman and Romney wiggle all over the place trying to please the far right. If I had to do that to get elected to an office, I would choose no. I was really proud of him when PBO selected him as the ambassador to China. It sure did not take him long to lose his soul. He and Romney could be brothers. I can’t wait for the debates between these losers. Heard that he is speaking at a Univ. in NH where PBO spoke.

Thanks UT, just added Steve Benen’s post on Huntsman’s interview – a flip-flopper supreme!

Stephanopoulos also referred to the Ryan budget plan to eliminate Medicare as “idiotic,” and asked Huntsman if he’d vote for the “idiotic plan,” and Huntsman said, “Yes.” He agreed to support a plan described as “idiotic” in an interview on national TV! His desire to be POTUS is so great that he is totally unaware that he’s agreeing to a policy that is being disparaged by the interviewer right in his face!!
