    OT: Corsi birther book pulled.

“In a stunning development one day after the release of Where’s the Birth Certificate? The Case that Barack Obama is not Eligible to be President, by Dr. Jerome Corsi, World Net Daily Editor and Chief Executive Officer Joseph Farah has announced plans to recall and pulp the entire 200,000 first printing run of the book, as well as announcing an offer to refund the purchase price to anyone who has already bought either a hard copy or electronic download of the book.”

all got to this topic. Am I missing something?

Ohhh PERFECT! On that note, I just received this email from OFA- and I did donate to buy what they’re offering (you can give a minimum of $15.00- I gave $20.12) Heres the email, its very cute:

      Sheri —

Let me introduce you to Jerome Corsi.

This week he released a new book that the publisher says will be a bestseller “of historic proportions.”

The title is “Where’s the Birth Certificate?” — yes, really.

Corsi’s work is a greatest-hits reel of delusions, ranging from 9/11 conspiracies to claiming that there is an infinite supply of oil in the Earth’s core. In 2008, he published a book about Barack Obama claiming, among other things, that he (a) is a secret Muslim; (b) is secretly anti-military; (c) secretly dealt drugs; and (d) secretly supported terrorist actions when he was eight years old. So many secrets!

FactCheck.org called Corsi’s work “a mishmash of unsupported conjecture, half-truths, logical fallacies and outright falsehoods.”

There’s really no way to make this stuff completely go away. The only thing we can do is laugh at it — and make sure as many other people as possible are in on the joke.

So let’s just do this — get your Obama birth certificate mug here:

      https://donate.barackobama.com/USA-Made-Mug

Last year, the President said, “I can’t spend all of my time with my birth certificate plastered on my forehead.”

This is about as close as we can get.

If the facts can’t make these ridiculous smears go away, we can at least have a little fun with it.

And then we’ll get back to the important work of supporting the President as he tackles real problems like high gas prices, the deficit, and unemployment.

      Thanks,

      Julianna

Good news but this book should not have been published in the first place. This is what is wrong with American politics, MEDIA giving credibility to these right wing lies and smears against President Obama. Why is MSM so afraid of the facts?

      DEVELOPING…

UPDATE, 12:25 p.m., for those who didn’t figure it out yet, and the many on Twitter for whom it took a while: We committed satire this morning to point out the problems with selling and marketing a book that has had its core premise and reason to exist gutted by the news cycle, several weeks in advance of publication. Are its author and publisher chastened? Well, no. They double down, and accuse the President of the United States of perpetrating a fraud on the world by having released a forged birth certificate. Not because this claim is in any way based on reality, but to hold their terribly gullible audience captive to their lies, and to sell books. This is despicable, and deserves only ridicule. That’s why we committed satire in the matter of the Corsi book.

A plug for the Coast Guard: 40 years ago (I can’t believe how long ago that is, yikes) when I was 12 my school in CA went on a short field trip to the beach/ocean- on a Coast Guard ship for a day.. we were given a tour of the ship and went for a day long float along the coast- back then we had some pretty awesome field trips in southern California schools… anyhow, I got very very sick with sunstroke.. and I was so well-cared for by the Guardsmen/women on this ship until we were able to dock. I nearly enlisted with the Guard, but instead went Army.

Thanks for the reminder, Chipsticks. I got in fairly early. He’s using a lot of humor and giving them so many examples to be proud of. I liked Janet Napolitano’s references to President Obama as a leader, making the hard decisions — it felt to me like a reference to bin Laden as well as his other military leadership. When their current commander retires, they’re going to have the first woman to head a military academy.

They led the evacuation of NY during 9/11 with first responders. Protect ports. Protecting our country. Hmmm. I didn’t realize they had an international role — training other countries who have similar organization and I think he said partnering with those organizations. Do they go on international missions? I’m learning a lot from this speech!

Now he goes for the heart about our American journey. The spirit and strength. When we get blown off course we remember our moral compass. The United States of America. We pull together. Even during the darkest storms a brighter day beckons. Wow. Very inspiring!!!

Hey, Chipsticks and all, apparently this was satire. The website has published an update. Sorry.

Some more serious reporting from us on this whole “birther” phenomenon here, here, and here.

Proud of Obama, I went to the publisher’s site to see if it would be worthwhile to email and complain and this guy is very, very far right. One of his articles is “Gingrich is a liberal”! I don’t want to email or have anything to do with him. Yikes! The Esquire article was funny though and how things should be.

Love your id name. And I am also…proud of Obama!
