I’m rethinking Fox hiring potential 2012 candidates – I think they hired them to bribe them out of running. Huckabee, Palin, Santorum and Gingrich are all culture warriors. I think Fox might have tried to entice them with the easy life, money and a soapbox to keep them from running rather than giving them a boost to run. Fox wanted to clear the deck of the true culture warriors so they can try and sneak a fake one through with a more appealing (to Fox) economic message and a better chance of winning.
I think Fox realized that these types could catch fire in a primary, and in the very least draw other candidates far right on social issues that would then hurt the eventual winner come the general – so wanted to buy them to stay out.
It’s a good theory.

Misplaced pity perhaps, but she looks so unknowing. Could she possibly believe he’ll make it through the primaries? Could she have been put under some kind of spell? What possesses young women like Callista to follow someone like Gingrich around like a soulful pup until she becomes wife number three? Doesn’t she see that she could easily be replaced down the road?

I’m no fan of Newt, can’t stand the guy. But he was telling the truth about Paul Ryan’s plan to destroy Medicare.
What’s beautiful is that even when the Repubs are trying to be reasonable by pushing back on the tea party agenda, they are skewered alive. This is what Romney and Hunstman and Pawlenty have to look forward to. The only candidates who can win a general are the ones who have to screw themselves over to win the tea party support. Romey and Hunstman will have a hard time overcoming their mormonism – since religion seems to be tied to presidential potential now – and Pawlenty will have to join the flip flop brigade, because every Republican policy has been proven to fail. It’s popcorn time!

From what I’ve read, Callista went into this situation with her eyes wide open. She wanted to be in the circles of power, she worked in Newt’s office, and saw him as an avenue to power. I don’t think she is going to get her heart’s desire. He is always going to be “the former”

Oh I just read anniebella’s comment above that it had to do with Ryan’s plan to destroy medicare.
Newt criticized the The Ryan budget plan to kill Medicare yesterday, and said it was “radical”, just like the Democratic policies. Paul Ryan then said “with allies like Newt, who needs the Left”. Limbaugh went ballistic over Newt’s statements, and Limbaugh’s army is now irate. Newt tried to walk it back, which I think drove the Limbaugh army even crazier.
What ever happened to Lou Dobbs? He said a few months ago that he was considering running for President or the Senate. Then he dropped off the radar. Is he waiting in the wings for all the carnage to clear his way?
I forgot about him – let’s hope he keeps his racist butt out of the running.
I just hope people find out the true nature of Mitch Daniels and don’t think he is benign and moderate. He is not!
