‘that’s just pollen’

Commercial Appeal: BTW students Cassandra Henderson and Christopher Dean accompanied President Obama for a surprise drop-in private chat with the assembled senior class, behind curtains away from the main ballroom arena. Principal Alisha Kiner tried to relax them with some knock-knock jokes and quips about seniors crying at graduation. The students were unaware Obama was going to join them before the commencement, and they erupted into cheers – and some sobs – when he walked out smiling……

….Another huge roar went up as he put down the microphone to mix with the students – most of them with “Honors” sashes. One girl was sobbing and Obama gave her a reassuring, sympathetic look, leaned down and put his hand on her neck to comfort her. Next to her another girl was crying, and Obama went down the row.

Then the students noticed the usually steely principal’s eyes watering up. “No, no,” she said. “You know, that’s just pollen.”

I am so happy for these kids! PBO is such a nice, caring gentleman! Those hugs and handshakes seem so genuine….p.s I would have been rolling on the ground bawling out of shock, awe, pride……till I eventually pass out!
Thanks for this Northanger and Chipsticks it really touched my heart.

lol – when I graduate from my university they could bring the President of my country, Prime Minister who or what so ever they want but do not bring President Obama and expect me to keep sane!!
So its a good thing yet a bad thing that he will never show up at my graduation because I wanna look good when I graduate..and if he does show up (not possible) my hair would be in a mess from all the rolling, make up would start running from the tears..lets just say I’ll be a wreck lol..not cute lol

I have to believe that even the Secret Service was touched at today’s event with these incredible kids.

On the site where the full article is, (thanks Northanger and Chipsticks), there is a poll asking whether you watched the President’s commencement speech. Be sure to cast your vote – I did.

This President is a nice man. Just look how he reacted to the young girls crying. I don’t know those students, but I am so proud of them too. I wish them much success in the future.

I like the CNN video better because it shows the principal saying “we have a surprise” and then Obama walks out IMO that’s the better one.

I prefer it too tbs, just uploading it now – have been having endless internet trouble all day, painfully slow, so it’s been taking an age to upload stuff.
