Note: Not everyone in Ireland has a really horrific yellow perm, red nose, rotten teeth and is armed with a banjo or tin whistle. And many Irish people would rather drink pigeon wee than Guinness. 😕

Bob Gates is such a genuine good guy. He obviously has deep respect for PBO. I hope he enjoys his retirement but I’m sure he will be missed.
Bob Gates has served President Obama with honor and distinction. I too hope he enjoys his retirement.
I agree with you Proud of Obama. Mr. Gates is a man who puts the welfare of his soldiers before any politics. And that is to be respected. I believe our President is like that too. He will put the welfare of the people of this country before any politics. That is not the Republican- Tea Party though, they put the welfare of their party and the rich first and foremost. That is what this President has to deal with.
This site is such a joy to come to. I have been only able to read and not comment these last few days. This is all so exciting. I can’t wait to listen to Michelle’s speech. I did listen to Gates’ interview was amazing. I do have great respect for him. I can’t believe Bush even nominated him. It is probably the only thing he has ever done that I can admire.

Bush was forced to after Rumsfeld and Wolfowitz screwed the pooch about as badly as any human could. So I give Bush zero credit. It’s not like Gates was his first choice which would have earned him some credit for having half a brain.

I enjoyed the Sec. of Defense, Robert Gates’ interview. My eyes were filled with tears just watching him speak with Katie. He seem to always have such a deep respect for his job and for President Obama. I have seen him make comments before, and it always shows. I believe that he has really enjoyed this time that he has been Sec. of Defense under this President. I read an article last year in Times about him, and he seem to be a very direct, honest, and very caring man. I am crying because, I really hate to see Sec. Gates leave President Obama. I too hope and pray that he will enjoy his retirement. May God bless him tremendously for keeping our nation safe, keeping our men and women safe, and being such a great Sec. Defense for President Obama. I can see they they respect each other. I can’t wait to read his books. I just really like Mr. Gates a lot. God’s riches blessings be with him and his wife. Thank you Sir.
