‘beyond parody’

Steve Benen: … This week, Mike Huckabee launched a new educational company called Learn Our History. As the Fox News personality sees it, mean liberals have destroyed history lessons, and he intends to put things right: “America’s youth aren’t excited about our past because they’re being taught history in a way that minimizes what has made America a beacon of hope around the world for over 200 years.”

….Those who buy Learn Our History’s shameless, nationalistic propaganda lessons will finally get “historically accurate and unbiased education.”

And what, pray tell, does “historically accurate and unbiased education” look like? Apparently, it looks like this.

(If you have a weak stomach, do not click play)

As one wise observer put it, “Zombie Reagan saved America from the blacks, the Disco, the terrorists, the Russians, and maybe in a future chapter the alien invasion.”

It’s true. Knife-wielding black people wearing disco t-shirts were apparently a real problem, right up until January 1981…..

Ahhhhh. Right-wing propaganda at it’s best. Is it too whiny to say that there should be laws against this shit? Or would the would the batshitcrazy wing just say it’s freedom of speech? When did truth become a victim of free speech?

Those who do not learn from TRUE history are condemned to repeat it. It’s certainly not the first time that propaganda was delivered to the people as “history”. Real history contains all the failings of human beings as well as their promise. To learn from history means to acknowlege the former and build on the latter. That can never be accomplished by turning people against each other – it has to be grounded in community and recognition of the value of all human beings. I know of no other leader in our time who has done more to bridge the gap between people of all races, all beliefs and backgrounds than our remarkable President, Barack Hussein Obama. He does not condemn those of differing philosophy or political makeup – he consistently engages everyone in finding common ground. The only thing that he does insist on is honesty. That’s where his efforts are curtailed – by the relentless drumbeat of falsehoods, the endless repetition of lies and distortions, the unwillingness of some to come to grips with their own and others’ mistakes and open their minds to change. We must move forward and do our own best to foster understanding and cooperation and learn from our past in order to help bend the arc of history towards justice.

The Only Adult in the Room has a wonderful chart showing how much the past presidents have contributed to the national debt. Reagan’s contribution was astronomical, many times that of any other president since. That was the Reagan revolution that these people never talk about!

Not watching it. Huckabee is a disgusting and vile person.

I’m disappointed that this is coming from Huckabee. He seemed to have had some character. I’m mistaken. The President’s messages will not comes across strongly if he only debates idiots. Where is his “worthy” opponent???

Some real historians are striking back at these tea party influenced attempts to distort American history.

“Friday morning, Doug Kendall, the president of the Constitutional Accountability Center, a liberal-leaning think tank and public interest law firm, blasted out a press release urging educators to keep the tea partiers out of their schools. He said:
I defy the Tea Party Patriots to find one credible historian willing to support their view of the Constitution’s history. Before the Tea Party gets to go into school and teach our children about the Constitution, they need to find a tenured professor on the history faculty on one of any of the 50 highest-rated universities in the United States who will vouch for the accuracy of their teachings. To qualify to teach America’s children about the Constitution you need to do more than dress up like James Madison.
The Tea Party Patriots are peddling constitutional gobbledygook masquerading as history. Yet whether it is Tea Party organizations misrepresenting American history, or Tea Party politicians like Rep. Michele Bachmann not knowing what state the battles of Lexington and Concord were fought in, the Tea Party has utterly disqualified itself from serious discussion of our Constitution’s text and history. America’s school boards must flatly reject the Tea Party Patriots’ attempts to muscle their bad history into our children’s classrooms.”

You know, with all of the beautiful things of this great country to focus on with our children, these ‘low life’ people who also claim to be Christians bring in all of this hate, lies, and disrespect for true knowledge in our country. Allof these people need to be somewhere else where people thrive on bitterness, lies, hate, keeping children down, preying on ignorance, and constantly putting out misinformation. And they are making a profit by it, is plain and simple: SHAMELESS. If you meditate on the scriptures with love, compassion, and respect, you CANNOT come up with this vile stuff. These people need their hearts changed immediately.

The Republicans are blaming Obama for that health plan when they fought tooth and nail for it. Now they want the President to chastise voters for complaining about the Republican attack on Medicare? Reptilians don’t deserve a political party. Candidates should at least be human!

Keep complaining. It’s a Constitutional right! Pass it On: https://writerep.house.gov/writerep/welcome.shtml
