morning!

In case anyone missed it, I added the video of the President’s speech in Austin here last night

****

President Obama will take questions at a CBS News town hall Wednesday afternoon, but we won’t get to hear any of his answers until Thursday morning. The forum, which will be taped at the Newseum, is embargoed until it’s shown on the “Early Show” at 8 a.m. Thursday.

Time: President Barack Obama’s approval rating has hit its highest point in two years — 60 percent — and more than half of Americans now say he deserves to be re-elected, according to an Associated Press-GfK poll taken after U.S. forces killed al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden.

In worrisome signs for Republicans, the president’s standing improved not just on foreign policy but also on the economy, and independent Americans — a key voting bloc in the November 2012 presidential election — caused the overall uptick in support by sliding back to Obama after fleeing for much of the past two years.

Comfortable majorities of the public now call Obama a strong leader who will keep America safe. Nearly three-fourths — 73 percent — also now say they are confident that Obama can effectively handle terrorist threats. And he improved his standing on Afghanistan, Iraq and the United States’ relationships with other countries.

Despite a sluggish recovery from the Great Recession, 52 percent of Americans now approve of Obama’s stewardship of the economy, giving him his best rating on that issue since the early days of his presidency; 52 percent also now like how he’s handling the nation’s stubbornly high 9 percent unemployment.

Morning Andogriff, very nice news to wake up to! I know we shouldn’t take polls – good or bad – too seriously, but it’s hard not to be happy about this one 😉

LOL is right. This is indeed good news. Particularly on the economy. OBL is really good, but it is the economic numbers that thrill me.

      A thrill up the leg.

That dammmmmed Chris Matthews was on Obama’s back yesterday about immigration reform. He was down right nasty in putting down Clarence Page and Chris Cilla. He basically called them stupid. Obama is just another pol.

Of course he is a politico U idiot.

I love these poll numbers and honestly its what I expected after the death of OBL. Now lets see if the MSM spends all day talking about this poll like the they do the ones they perceive to be negative. I won’t hold my breath. I’m sharing this good news everywhere!!!

Just lit mine. How are you Donna, from OFA, right? I come here for peace, not to fight the trolls over there. Hopefully, someone in charge will clean it up a bit more. As for the poll numbers, they’re beautiful, so we need continually to pray for continued surveillance of any terrorist threats, for uptick in the economy (which IS improving), for a greater revelation by elected Dems to get their message out in strength (or we definitely hold them accountable), and first and foremost….the continued health, strength, and resilience of our AWESOME President, his administration, and his family. And of course all of his supporters.

Hi EDP and Good Morning to You…that would be me 🙂

I will always have a special place in my heart for the OFA blog but that site is a mess right now. The Obama site was the envy of the campaigns back in 08. All they needed to do was to clean up and monitor the trolls over there but instead they scrapped the entire site and started from scratch. The site is flat and needs a lot of work. We have some monitoring now but I have my issues with that as well. They launched a re-election campaign with a new election website and no where on the site is there a picture of the President, the Vice President or either of their families. There is no where for people to get information on the issues or what position the President has taken on policy. I am shocked at what they have presented as the “start up” for his re-election.

Thank God we have a phenomenal President who will take it directly to the people and I continue to keep him and the country lifted up in prayer, meditation and good thought every single day.

😀 I thought that was you. Good to see you are still in fine form and ready for battle. I just returned from OFA site, and I commend GOSAL and the rest of the crew for sticking and staying. I see Brad is still there also. I swear, if he isn’t paid to detest the President, then he has real C/O issues…LOL. I will always be a member of OFA, so I am wondering, how can we get word out to David Plouffe about this problem? I would suspect he would not cotton to the current set-up, it being virtually ill-functioning. The old site was just great, and as you say, just needed monitoring with less lazy resident bloggers. I have in the past sent emails to WH.gov, but to no avail. Anyhow, I thank God for Chipsticks, BWD, WSY, etc. for always having the President’s back. And thanks, Chips, for allowing us to discuss OFA on TOD…the 2 are invaluable, but, you’ve got the eye candy 😀

Good morning Chip & TOD family,

This 60% makes me feel really good. I couldn’t believe he didn’t bounce up here in the 60’s right away after the OBL news came out. I was like, Really people?? He got OBL & this is the best you can do! I have more faith in my fellow humans again.

I like the PPP poll, too. Hope he does win Va. again b/c after McDonnell won, Scarborough said he wouldn’t win Va.again. HAH!

Scarborough is always wishing bad for this President. After the earthquakes in Japan he was salivating at the prospect of a global economic impact, particularly one that bode badly for the US.

I do not watch Joe in the morning, is that the name of the show? I ‘m not fun of Joe or his sidekick. Have any of you heard about the so call uproar by the right because the First Lady invited Common to Poetry reading tonight?

Didn’t they have a similar uproar over that pastor at the inauguration? In the end, it meant nothing. When they get to be First Lady, they can invite whomever they want.

This is wonderful news…..and it should be there or above! This is NOT a “bump” as the MSM so loves to say.
I think that people are beginning to wake up from their tea party induced coma in which they elected Republican governors and legislatures and Congressmen last November. They are seeing the horrible consequences of those elections…..Florida, Wisconsin, Oklahoma, Ohio, Michigan……It’s like half the country took Orwell’s drug Soma and finally is getting over it.
I like to read blogs from different states for their reactions. People in Florida and Wisconsin are ready to throw their governors out, and Republicans in Wisconsin are desperate to pass punitive legislation now, knowing they are going to lose their control in the state legislature. These people have shown themselves for what they are. I don’t know why it took so long for so many people to realize this.
Bravo, President Obama! You are the best.

The poll numbers are great, but we know they go up and down. As I have always said we know we will be in a battle for 2012, so we have to be ready to fight to help get Barack Obama re-elected. To do whatever we can to help. Yesterday I got a call from a volunteer for the 2012 campaign to see if I wanted to volunteer, and I said hell yes what can I do?

Great news and it will take huge numbers to make the MSM even discuss them. But whatever, we can enjoy this today and still do what work needs to be done to re-elect the best president we’ve had in decades.

Great news. I donated $60.12 to potus reelection this morning. I already have monthly donation set up but today’s good news deserved a bit extra. If you can pull it off please make a donation. Even $6.12 will help the cause and make a statement. God bless Prez O and our nation. 😀

The poll numbers in Viginia are frustrating in a way. The Washington Post implied yesterday that things were looking so good in Virginia because of McDonnell, who only took office a little over a year ago. Everyone knows that he is basking in the accomplishments of the 2 Democratic governors that preceded him, Warner, who is now in the Senate, and Kaine, former chairman of the DNC who is now preparing to run for the Senate against George Allen.

McDonnell and the ultra right wing Attorney General Cuccinnelli, had many embarrassing missteps last year. They initially turned down stimulus money, but after they took it developed amnesia about it. Cuccinelli continues with his with his suits against health care reform and for birther issues. They are both an embarrassment to the commonwealth, yet they continue to get praise for what Warner and Kaine did, and the benefit that Virginia receives from being so close to Washington, D.C. Northern Virginia has always been almost recession proof.

Didn’t mean to get so technical or so long-winded, except to say it’s gratifying to see the poll numbers and realize that Virginians are not fooled by the McDonnell/Cuccinnelli hype. They know why Virginia’s been doing pretty well these last 2 years.
