the family values folks

NYT: Callista Bisek’s friends from rural Wisconsin were stunned when, well over a decade ago, she confided that she was secretly dating an older, married man: Newt Gingrich. (She was) still in her 20s when they met …

Today, Ms. Bisek is Mrs. Gingrich, married for 11 years, but perhaps best remembered for the six-year affair that contributed to her husband’s political downfall. His critics cast Mr. Gingrich as a hypocrite who sought to impeach a president over infidelity while engaging in it himself with Ms. Bisek, who was a Congressional aide.

….As he prepares for a Republican presidential primary run Mr. Gingrich is presenting himself as a family man who has embraced Catholicism and found God, with his wife as a kind of character witness….

Barely a sentence goes by without Mr. Gingrich uttering the words “Callista and I.” They are constantly together … she is the voice on his audio books; her face is all over his 2012 Web site, where visitors can read “A Note from Newt & Callista”.

…Mr. Gingrich is well aware that social conservatives are skeptical of him because of his two divorces and admission of infidelity. He has been meeting with religious leaders around the country to address their concerns.

…At 45, 22 years her husband’s junior … she runs Gingrich Productions, making documentaries in conjunction with Citizens United, the nonprofit group that drew national attention in a Supreme Court case last year.

…The same friends who tried to talk her out of out of dating him more than a decade ago have concluded that she knew what she was doing, and are banking that voters will forgive and forget. Karen Olson, best friend of Mrs. Gingrich, summed up their history in what might just become a campaign catchphrase:

“They’re a great couple,” she said, “that had a nontraditional start.”

I was about to say the same thing? 45? She’s just two years younger than Michelle Obama. I thought this woman was in her mid to late 50s!!

Imagine opening your eyes every morning and seeing Newt’s face. 😕

Imagine waking up looking at “her” face. Where do they get these stiff, Stepford-looking, Cindy McCain-looking, fake, too much make-up, stone-faced wives? Thank God we have Michelle Obama to look at as our First Lady.

Aw come on, EDP4, be fair. This is the most ‘natural’ looking I have EVER seen Callista! 😉 And look! She really loves him – she can’t keep her eyes off him! You are right though, many repubs do have a cookie cutter kind of spouse. I’ve never thought of it before, but maybe they have a formula that they follow like they do with their talking points.

Now that you’ve reminded me, during the 2008 campaign I used to wonder if the McC’s wife was afraid of him. IMO she profiled visually like an abused wife, deferential and afraid to say ‘boo’ in case she offended. I actually felt sorry for her, that is until she gave her first ‘speech’. I wondered again if she was an abused wife when she made her media statement supporting the DADT repeal and had to retract it publicly almost immediately. But hey, they have tons of money, so they must be happy (NOT)!

Thank you!! She’s looks at least late 50’s!! She looks evil and scary though!! Newt might’ve got what he deserved
      with this one…

Say it again. GATDAMN!!!! That’s a hard 45.

Whatever, Newt! He knows he’ll never be president — he won’t even be the republican nominee, but to make money, he has to keep running for it. It’s what grifters do. He has no character to speak of, no charisma, no brilliance, no ideas. Just a mouth and an ass.

If Gingrich is the GOP nominee I bet over half the population will think it’s 2008 all over again with an old white guy with a much younger blonde wife running against Obama.

Very interesting that she’s making money off CU – it’s so damn incestuous. All the Koch thinktanks supplementing the incomes, Fox news hiring virtually every GOP contender to give them exposure and a potential self-funding war chest to tap, Ginny Thomas makes money running third party groups, now we have Gingrich’s wife making bank off of GOP fundraising groups. It’s a cottage industry to just make themselves more wealthy.

These people make their living running for president and exploiting dumb people who buy their crappy products. Really despicable people!

If the Repubs want to know about family values you just look at our President and his family. Now those are values I can believe in.

Very true. But since the repubs don’t exhibit real family values, they can’t recognize them when they’re right in front of their faces.

Reminds of John McCain who tried to go on like his family was All-American when he dumped his wife after her accident (and after she was supportive of his return home from ‘Nam) and married the much younger, richer, and blonder Cindy McCain. Oh yeah, rolling deep in family values.

Gingrich, McCain, Palin, etc. can’t touch the Obamas when it comes to family values (not that it should matter but since Gingrich is trying to tout his own raggedy horn…).

U know Jessica, I feel sorry for these conservative women. Governor Quitter has to work hard to feed “Baby Todd” who spends all day playing video games and snow mobile driving, or whatever they do down there in Wasila. Now Callisya has to be Gingrich’s Blonde Doll. When do these women, callista and quitter plan on ordering the Rosetta stone English.

I wish I could feel sorry for them. But I can’t when they are helping these evil men try to destroy our President and our country. Calista, Cindy, etc., are no better than the men they support.

I believe that Callista looks older because she’s probably hoping and praying that she doesn’t get terminally ILL, or seriously ILL, because we know the pattern of Newt’s behavior, when his wives become seriously ILL.

So she didn’t elevate him, she declined instead. Looking over your shoulder wondering if and when he steps out on you is not conducive for a stable happy marriage. They are both good for each other and not for the majority of the American people. And just think men like Gingrich and McCain runs for the highest office in this country and they think that they deserve to be President. Their morals are so low and they would cheapen the office. They practice no self control or have any decency and they are very dishonest. Who will ever trust them. If they have no respect for a former spouse just think what they bring to the table. More of the same blatantcy.

When I first opened the page, I thought the woman was a bobble-head doll. Scary – she’s worse than John McCain’s wife – clearly Stepford-raised.

Wow, I find it interesting that she is 45 since I too thought she was older than that. She must wear her style of clothing and hairstyle like that to look closer in age to Newt. Weird indeed!

Chipsticks. Don’t ever frighten me this way again. I was merrily scrolling down the front page when this pic just hit me between the eyes. i jumped out of my skin thinking it was a giant sized Barbie popping up like a jack-in-a-box.

My oh my. She’s younger than me? Well…hmmmmm.

She kinda reminds me of Lady Bird Johnson. Who wore that name very well. Calista looks like a giant cockatoo to me–one with blond feathers around its head. Just saying.

Especially after having a FLOTUS who is intelligent, caring, dignified and elegant, there is no way I can see having a FLOTUS who is an admitted adulterer. I am pretty progressive, but I just can’t see her being a role model for anyone. Newtie boy is bad enough, but this is a first for a first ‘lady.’
