compare, contrast … you just can’t buy class

New York Times (July, 2009):  …when the library for George W. Bush opens in 2013 on the campus of Southern Methodist University in Dallas, visitors will most likely get to see one of his most treasured items: Saddam Hussein’s pistol.

The gun was found in the spider hole where the Iraqi leader was captured in December 2003 by Delta Force soldiers, four of whom later presented the pistol to Mr. Bush. Among the thousands of gifts Mr. Bush received as president, the gun became a favorite….

….For nearly five years, Mr. Bush kept the mounted, glass-encased pistol in the Oval Office or a study, showing it with pride, especially to military officials….

Mr. Bush also [kept] a brick from the Iraq safe house where the Qaeda leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi was killed by an American air strike in 2006.

…Douglas Brinkley, an author and history professor at Rice University, said the pistol opened a psychological window into Mr. Bush’s view of his presidency. “It represents this Texas notion of the white hats taking out the black hats and keeping the trophy,” Mr. Brinkley said. “It’s a True West magazine kind of pulp western mentality….”

****

President Obama on deciding against the release of post-mortem photos of Osama Bin Laden: “…. that’s not who we are. We don’t trot this stuff out as trophies.”

(Thank you Carol)

This is the equivalent of a scalp for Bush.

I’m surprised he didn’t stuff Saddam’s head and mount it on a wall next to some Elk he killed. You know Sarah would.

…… was that mean of me to say?

No tally, I think you are right on the button.. it has always been my take of George Bush- he has always been far too gleeful about the “evil-doers”. As to Sarah- I put absolutely nothing obscene or distateful past her.

THERE IS NOTHING TO BRAG ABOUT WITH SWAGGER AND A HAWKISH PERSONALITY…IT’S A BAD MOVIE NONE OF US WANT TO SEE…WE HAD 8 HELLISH YEARS OF THE BUSH REGIME SPEAKING DIRECTLY FROM THE ‘NOT-SO-OK CORRAL.’ FRANKLY…I DON’T THINK GEORGE WANTS TO GO OUT MUCH BECAUSE HE’S AFRAID OF RETALIATION FOR HIS TOO NUMEROUS TO COUNT…POOR DECISIONS!

I agree with you 100%. When I see footage of Bush now I can’t believe the behavior of that man. It’s even more grotesque after seeing how a decent human being behaves as President.

Sue and Cup……..I agree with you 100%. He is not a decent man and never was. He thinks with the mind of a child getting attention for the first time and now that he is out of office he is sinking back into his hole with his Secret Service men protecting him. Lord, what an awful job they have to do. He is one the list of High Risk Targets by more than one person as is Cheney who is hiding in a bunker somewhere.

He will have to pay for his own security detail in 8 more years since presidents only gets 10 years of Secret Service protection after leaving office now. He should be able to afford it. He’s already rich, and he never does anything for free. He’s so petty that he charges for those rinky dink “seminars” that should be entitled, “How to be a failure at everything like GWB.”

Thank goodness, I did not know they had limited years of protection.

Unfortunately, President Obama will fall under this too.

If you search hard enough maybe you will find the WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION in that G.W. Bush Libary.

HE was the weapon of mass destruction…..he destroyed the economy, the office of the presidency, America’s standing the world over. He really does need to stay in Texas….maybe when they recede, we won’t ever have to acknowledge him as an American.

EDP4BHO….So true, G.W. and most of those same Republicans who were in charge for nearly eight years and who now are fighting this President, they left this country in a darn stinking mess. Where this President has to try to clean up, and it hasn’t been a easy job. People don’t have patience, they expect President Obama to stand before them and wave his hand and poof jobs are falling from the sky, and now they want to blame him for these gas prices. Which is silly. But give this President a chance, and a second chance in 2012, he have proven that he can do the job. He just need a Congress and Senate who will work with him, who will stop playing politics, and put the welfare of this country and it’s people first. Someone who will not try to balance the budget on the back of the poor and middle class, and give more and more to the rich. I believe in this President.

      anniebella,
You have me cracking up! You’re right, though. They MUST be in his presidential library because they certainly weren’t in Iraq.

      EDP4BHO,

So true. GWB WAS the WMD. He brought America and the world to its knees. I get very angry when I read/hear about some deranged right-winger trying to prop that loser up. Even the former head of the Republican Party in TX said that GWB was a failure as POTUS and should have stuck to baseball as a career choice.

    I love President Obama.

He truly understands that Americas’ strength is the power of her example not the example(photo) of her power.

He makes me a very proud American, individual, black person and human being!

    We love you, Mr. President!!
