cape canaveral

President Barack Obama, first lady Michelle Obama, their daughters Sasha and Malia, and Astronaut Janet Kavandi, walk under the landing gear from beneath the nose of Space Shuttle Atlantis as they visit Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral

Pool report: Potus met with Rep. Giffords for approx 10 minutes before he came down to meet the full crew. Prior to going in to see her, Potus greeted Mark Kelly in a corridor. “I bet you were hoping to see a rocket launch today,” Mr. Kelly said. Replied Potus: “We were hoping to see you.” They shook hands and embraced. Mr. Kelly updated the President and First Lady on Rep. Giffords’ condition, and then they went down the corridor to see her.

I am glad the Obamas still went eventhough the shuttle was scrubbed at least Malia and Sasha wouldn’t have wasted their trip and I am sure they learnt alot!!! Safe trip back Obamas!!

From what I heard on the news the shuttle will take off Sunday according to if the technical difficulties are solved, if not later in the week. I was so disappointed especially for the girls but I am sure they still had fun.

How exciting to see the space shuttle up close and personal. I always have the feeling the President loves seeing technical innovations.

When I was looking for a live stream I discovered NASA TV.

Here’s the link for a video of the President’s arrival that was streaming live for awhile. It looked very windy, but sunny.

WOW…WHAT AN AWESOME TOUR FOR THE GIRLS. I’M GLAD THEY DISCOVERED THE MECHANICAL PROBLEM BEFORE ZOOMING OFF INTO THE UNIVERSE…I THINK THE GIFFORDS HAVE HAD ENOUGH TRAGEDY IN THEIR LIVES.

I read that President Obama had a 10 minute meeting with Gabby Giffords there. Her husband updated the President on her current condition before they met.

Even though the girls didn’t get to see the shuttle lift off, I am sure it was nice for them to visit cape canaveral.

On one of my many trips I was driving across a Bridge and I saw the Shuttle riding piggy back on a huge plane just above tree level. I was amazed at its size and all traffic stopped so that we could get out of our cars and just watch it travel back to Florida.

I love the comment when POTUS reportedly said:”We were hoping to see you.” I love the bond they all seem to have made since Gabby’s terrible incident. I believe they have a love and respect for each other that is so beautiful. So many good things coming out of hatred. God continue to bless so that the crew can make the trip and Mark and Gabby can continue to heal. God please continue to bless them with you healing balm.

i love the last photo, everybody looking and PBO and the astronaut lady like: “what is up with those two.” They look like they’re in their own worlds. PBO looks so cute! you can tell that he finds what she’s saying really hilarious because his face and shoulders are scrunched up like it’s the funniest thing he’s ever heard. Look at Sasha’s cute little face, she’s like “daddy….what’s so funny?”

I know it would have been an experience for the girls to have witness the shuttle lift off in person. Like WOW!!!! To bad.

    Great photos! thank you 🙂

Endeavour’s currently scheduled to launch no earlier than Monday, May 2nd. Btw, PBO and FLOTUS had to have a physical in order to meet with the quarantined astronauts.
