reshuffle

President Barack Obama speaks as Leon Panetta, Army General David Petraeus, Marine General John Allen, and Ambassador Ryan Crocker, listen during an event to announce national security personnel changes. The President has tapped current CIA Director Leon Panetta to succeed Robert Gates as the next Secretary of Defense, General David Petraeus to be the next CIA Director, Ryan Crocker to be the next U.S. ambassador to Afghanistan, and General John Allen to succeed Petraeus as commander for ISAF and commander for U.S. forces in Afghanistan.

And they made warm and appreciated comments to the President and pledged their support to him. Each person’s comments were well said. POTUS is again so smart to utilize the experience of people from the past administrations who have proven their worth and they are appreciative of his confidence in them.

You know when his schedule said President Obama makes a Personnel Announcement, I misread it as a “Personal Announcement.” I’m thinking, oh em gee is FLOTUS pregnant or something? Heeehee. 😀

Anyway! Sec. Gates has made a huge sacrifice for this nation. I’m grateful for his service.

I WATCHED THIS…BOB GATES WAS SWEETLY EMOTIONAL WHEN TALKING ABOUT OUR TROOPS…HE’S GOING TO HAVE A HARD TIME MAKING IT THROUGH TO HIS RETIREMENT DATE WITHOUT A BOX OF KLEENEX BECAUSE HE HAS LOVED HIS JOB. JUST IMAGINE…HE SPENT HIS LIFE SERVING 7 PRESIDENTS. PANETTA IS A GOOD REPLACEMENT!

That very morning he released his long-form birth certificate. How does he stay so strong?

I would have rather he released it later that day, after the announcements regarding reshuffling his security team and the Bernanke presser. These are very important developments in the life of this administration. But, we are living in a crazy time. It is unlikely that the birth certificate issue would not have overshadowed these stories and the storm in Alabama anyway.

God, protect President Obama as he heads down to Alabama. We need him more than we know. Forgive us for taking our blessings as a country for granted and give us the strength and courage to change the things we must to better the lives of us all without animus, undue suspicion, or avarice.

If he had stated that there was a personnel change in his administration, he would never had gotten the media to cover it. Which is exactly what President Obama was doing, calling out the media for their BS.

You can tell PBO likes the guy who will be taking over for Paetrus. He didn’t look at notes, instead he looked right at the president. Nice. That’s the kind of respect that PBO deserves from everybody.

Thanks Chipsticks – you’re the best! I so much enjoyed the respect and total support that each man gave our President – especially the guy who spoke without NOTES. Several of these men have been called over and over to do different jobs in the name of service for our Country and here they are again – ready to serve because President Obama said he needed them. I am so PROUD! Thanks again Chipsticks for sharing this video with TOD!
