President Obama will travel to Alabama tomorrow to view tornado damage after storms throughout much of the U.S. Southeast killed hundreds of people. The White House announced that the president would meet with Governor Robert Bentley, state and local officials and families.

The President then travels to Cape Canaveral for the launch of the space shuttle Endeavour, which will also be watched by U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and as many as 700,000 onlookers. First Lady Michelle Obama and daughters Malia and Sasha are also scheduled to be at the launch.

The prospects of crosswinds and cloud cover have increased the probability of a weather-delayed launch to 30 percent, up from the 20 percent prediction NASA has been holding much of the week.

The shuttle launch is scheduled for 3:47 p.m. Eastern Time.

Later in the day, the President is due to give the commencement address at Miami Dade College at 7:00 p.m.

I’m so glad that the First Family is going to be there for the launch. It just speaks volumes about who they are and how they feel about Gabrielle Giffords and her husband as well as the space mission. My heart goes out to Gabrielle, whose traumatic experience has all but been forgotten by the press in their rush to jump on the next idiotic crazy train. I will be watching along with so many others, in honor of all involved.

I second that meta. Has anyone read that the physicians have given Gabrielle the ok to go? I’m sure a medical team will be with her. Experts say that first trips out into the world after the traumatic brain injury she incured start with baby steps like going out to eat rather than where their are large crowds. Maybe she will be in a protected environment. Just have to wait and see.

I read that she’ll be watching the launch in the private residence of a friend or a colleague of her husband. The Obama family will watch from there too I believe. I doubt that journalists will be allowed to met Mrs. Giffords.

Hey barb more good news is that on CBS this morning they showed video of Gabrielle Giffords walking on the plane steps (to fly from Houston to Florida) on her own without any assistance. I was sooo happy to see that. Thank the Good Lord 😀

How much of the media will actually air this instead of the Royal Wedding?

    My guess is ZERO!

It has been amazing to watch the positive and extensive free PR the American media has extended the british royals who have done absolutely nothing to earn it!!!

But they have consciously worked against President Obama and done everything to destroy and marginalize him and his administration and the United States by extension!!!

They are all camped out in London gushing about the royal family and with no negative word to be heard, but they will snark and smirk, besmirch and outrightly attack the President of the United States!!! Crazy stuff!!!

Please excuse my language Eleroy, but **** the royal family and all their ugly prejudices. I am so utterly thrilled that the President and First Lady won’t be attending this ridiculous charade tomorrow.

I’m a non-practicing Catholic, but even I find it offensive that in 2011 a member of the ‘royal’ family cannot ‘ascent’ to the throne if they marry a Catholic. It’s nothing but bigotry and sectarianism.

They have invited some of the world’s most evil dictators to this wedding (like that insane creep from Swaziland), and two former Conservative Prime Ministers – John Major (worthless fool) and Margaret Thatcher (don’t start me) – she can’t go because she’s too busy eating babies.

But they didn’t invite the last two British Prime Ministers, Gordon Brown and Tony Blair. Why? They gave a bullshit ‘explanation’ that was utterly refuted on British TV tonight – the simple reason is that Blair and Brown were Labour Prime Ministers, so they’re not welcome in royal circles. Only Conservatives can attend this party. So, repulsive individuals like Elton John (Rush Limbaugh’s buddy) will be there, but Blair and Brown won’t.

It’s comical, in a nauseating kind of way.

I am so not interested in this wedding. I’ll be at the launch instead. I am so proud and amazed by Gabrielle Giffords and her husband Commander Kelly. America should be celebrating their spirit and determination. Our MSM better cover this!

–SF (BOYCOTT THE MEDIA) Stop supporting the demonization of our President!

I too am not interested in this wedding. I don’t understand the American press infiltrating our networks with this wedding. It is so pathetic when we have tragic deaths in Alabama and other states. .

Well. I hope the media gives as much attention to the President when he goes to London. People keep asking me about the wedding because I originate in the UK. It’s like they think I know the Queen personally or something. Incidentally Chipsticks although I’m a labour voting working class protestant English woman I married a Catholic American. As for Margaret Thatcher – yuk! She was the first politician I didn’t vote for:)

President Obama is the first person I ever voted for that won.

Oh family here, let us pray for Commander and his Crew of the Endeavor and ofcourse for our President and First Family as they make their way to Fl. They have scrubbed the launch, but we hope and pray that President Obama and First Lady will be able to spend some quality time with Rep. Giffords. Also lets lift Gabby up in prayers to be strong and sustained in her spirit and body.
