I give Oprah credit for allowing this snippet to be aired through Harpo Productions of course, with the President’s approval.

I wish she ignored the issue altogether. Maybe it will be left on the editing room floor when the show airs as the birther racists have already taken up enough of our time with their garbage. I get that is is a current event happening today so she needed to ask about it, but it doesn’t need to air on May 2nd just the same.

Me too. I wanted all positivity but I’m sure she asked the President and First Lady if she could ask the question and they gave her the blessings. I’m sure she also got permission to air that clip.

Yes, it would be more timely if the show was aired tomorrow, but it none the less shows how calmly the President is handling the situation. You KNOW Oprah couldn’t resist NOT speaking about it. Come on – its Oprah

Can’t wait to see the President and First Lady on Oprah. I’m counting the minutes, the hours, the days.

I’m raging mad at all the hateful distractions our President has to put up with and here he is – always taking the high ground and reminding us of the better angels in us all.

I feel just like the First Lady, I want to throw my hands up in the air and yell you stupid racists idiots, he was indeed born here.

I like Oprah alot—-she even called me once!—-but I thought that was a really dumb thing to say, asking if he was hoping he was born in Hawaii. President Obama tried to make light of it, but I’m sure he was pretty certain of where he was born just like all the rest of us who have always known.

I knew she was going to ask about the issue at hand and I understand that but I also didn’t get that ‘you hoping you were born here’ question. I know Oprah is their friend but that joke EPIC FAIL!! Anyway I don’t think deep down inside they are taking this in stride especially Mrs. Obama. They are looking like they are amused by it but I am seeing a little disappointment in them especially after Michelle yelled ‘he was born here’ she bowed and shake her head. I think they are really fed up of all the ish!

POTUS and FLOTUS are strong people. I normally say he was built for this but today I include her in that. Perfection both are.

I agree with bwd that Michelle looked sad today, and I will add mad. And I don’t blame her. They are valiantly giving it their all, every day in every way, and there has to come a point where you just get utterly disgusted and dejected by all the extreme preposterous garbage that is continuously thrown at them. We have some real demented goofballs in this country, and I get sad and mad about the unfairness of it all too. President Obama provides inspiration though as he seems to be able to put aside all the nasty noise and to keep marching on. Onward and upward.

Oprah has been a cowardly fuck up lately!!! If a woman worth billions of dollars and with so much clout and an audience won’t speak up clearly, who can!!!

I watched her behind the scenes show and was floored to find that most of her producers including the gay guy, are George Bush loving, tea party KKK types. Her executive producer is this dirty looking, fat trailer park trash type!!! What gives??!!!

I haven’t looked at Oprah quite the same since then – no solid, decent progressive men or women around to hire Oprah?!!

Well, now, when Oprah asked PBO, If he was hoping that he was born there, I somehow didn’t take offense, Instead, I took It as SARCASM, you know her being funny about It all. And being that she’s Friends with them, well, ummm šŸ™‚

Ok …what the hell was that Oprah, “you hoped your were born here?” Sorry, that seemed inappropriate and unhelpful. If it was meant to be humorous, IMO it failed.

Sorry, just not in the mood for any media outside of my internet sources that I respect and trust, not today……GGGGRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!

I love my President. Here is a decent man. He is brilliant and he does not want us playing checkers when we should be playing the best game of chess in our lifetime. You can’t put another heart into a soul. If you feed your soul this hate and these vile actions daily, that is what we will see in your actions. This is vile what those brought on our President today.

Oprah irritated me with this one. “Why did you wait so long?” Is she an idiot also? The bc that was released long ago answered the question for reasonable people. Her question makes it seem that the president was at fault in some way. And that “hoping you were born here”, he never questioned it at any time! Grrr!

I will watch the show when it airs, but I will mute this section (my way of shutting up foolishness). I still have not forgiven her for havining Palin on the show and sucking up to the Chimp/Chump when he and his off- spring were featured. This is her show as she likes to remind viewers; her way and ideas are the only ones that matter. I do not know why she had the need to make these decisions.

I’m with you – I almost don’t want to watch this clip, but I want to see how the Obamas are doing. Oprah lost my respect years ago with the sordid interview she did with Bill Clinton when his book came out (and she just wanted to focus on the scandal when his book was about his whole life). She completely lost me through the Palin debacle – that was it for me. I thought I would try and watch her show for this last season, but I haven’t done it. Hearing that she pulled this stunt with these silly questions, when she’s got the President and First Lady on her show… I’m glad she’s calling it quits. (And her friend Gail needs to get her research staff to do better work, because she often spreads misinformation on her show simply from being uninformed and getting her news from CNN).

Yeah, now I did take offense to her asking, why did you wait so long. I agrre with you on that, ummm don’t know why she asked that 😦

I love my President. He is so calm and smart.

Of course Oprah remains, yet again compensating racist GOP teabaggers by pressing their talking points. “outted the birth certificate” “why did you wait so long” “you hoped you were there” WTH? and dear Ms. Winfrey the President released his legitimate birth certificate years ago, so I am not sure why you asked him why he didn’t release it sooner. *eyeroll*

I love that he quoted himself saying “carnival barker”, best diss of Trump ever. I think he likes that wording almost as much as I do. šŸ˜€ thanks for posting CS.

I love you President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama ā¤ ā¤

Chips, here is an idea: is it possible to have a sticky where people can post their prayers and positive thoughts for President Obama anytime they feel like it? Thus we'll counter hate and ignorance with love and prayers. I'm sure lots of people will do it everyday. We will not only pray in our hearts, we will manifest it in writing and give it more power.

I was deeply sad but after I wrote that prayer for PBO I felt light and hopeful!

    We're not alone…I love you all šŸ™‚

Love Oprah, but her questioning was stupid on many levels. Don’t even feel like detailing it. Sometimes she can be so obtuse and out of touch. My Prez handled it beautifully, though :-). As usual!
