questionable ivy league admittance standards?

Salon: Donald Trump added a blatantly race-baiting component to his already racially charged campaign against Barack Obama’s Americanness this week when he claimed – based on things he’s “heard” – that Obama was a “terrible student” who got into Columbia and then Harvard based solely on affirmative action:

“How does a bad student go to Columbia and then to Harvard? I’m thinking about it, I’m certainly looking into it. Let him show his records,” he said, without providing backup for his claim. Trump added, “I have friends who have smart sons with great marks, great boards, great everything and they can’t get into Harvard.”

Leaving aside the fact that Obama, who went on to graduate Harvard Law magna cum laude, seems like he was probably a very good student, Mr. Trump might need a refresher course in how unqualified people actually do manage to get into the prestigious Ivy League Universities.

Let us take, as an example, the story of a student so obviously unqualified, so transparently unworthy, that a book was written about what his admittance into Harvard said about the sorry behavior of supposedly elite colleges.

That student was Donald Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner.

Kushner’s father, real estate developer Charles Kushner, bought Jared his Harvard acceptance. It cost him $2.5 million. (Kushner later went to jail for tax evasion and witness tampering, so it was also, technically, dirty money that bought Trump’s daughter’s husband’s entry into the Ivy League.)

      Yes, what an apt description!

What I do not get is that Trump obviously doesn’t know, recall or care perhaps that BHO,Jr is LEGACY at Harvard. His father went there. Not to mention all the honors he graduated with.

But an ass is just an ass…bigotted ass!!

I have never forgotten how he asked Randall Pinkett, RhodesScholar..to share being Apprentice with that white heffa Rebecca Jarvis!!

When he did that I KNEW!

Trump also must be academically challenged cause he seems to HATE on scholarly achievements!!

I hope everyone knows to boycott all Trump business ventures and especially to not tune in to this season’s Celebrity Apprentice…Trump needs to be hit in the only place that he feels it…his bank account.

I do not understand why or how anyone with an ounce of sense can watch Chump’s craziness. I have never ever watched this mess…it is just a complete waste of time and my life is too important to give up that kind of time and then get nothing to show for it, nothing. I was really disappointed when I found out Dionne Warwick was on that mess…I understand Star (she’s caught up in that celebrity stuff), LaTonya is just a trip and the Nene person has had enough cuttin’, suckin’ and augmentation done, she can go back where she came from…I don’t know who the rest of those losers are. Watching that mess is a time…time you can’t get back, won’t get back…time that could be better used improving one’s life or spending time with their family and friends. I don’t understand why or how the very people who Chump care nothing about; people who he continues to insult everyday, make him rich. Well, he won’t make a dime off of me!!!!!

He never asked that of any other winner before; I thought that was low class and dirty.
Donald Trump continues to inform anyone who will listen how smart he is and where he went to school. A gifted person’s attributes are most evident in their success. Mr. Trump’s success is shady and shaky.
His legacy is wrapped in bankruptcy, strong arming tenants for control of properties, badgering Indian tribes over casinos and borrowing money from Michael Jackson to keep afloat. The eagle Mr. Trump is trying to shoot down also has a legacy…service, as a Lawyer, Community Organizer, State Senator, Author and President.

This coming from a man who didn’t know that to call an educational institution “University”, it had to be certified.

There are no words to describe this @%*#$@) hole.

    • April 26, 2011 at 8:23 pm

I’m refering to his so-called Trump University:

New York’s Department of Education has come close to saying “You’re fired” to Donald Trump.

      Turns out the mogul’s self-named university is a less-than-collegiate.

In a letter obtained by the New York Daily News, state educrats railed on Trump for using the term “university” to describe his online school, calling its use of the name misleading and even illegal.

This isn’t the first setback for the self-described “Ivy-League quality” school. The Daily News reports:

Adding to Trump’s woes, the for-profit firm that promises to teach wanna-be billionaires the secrets of deal-making was hit with a D-minus rating by the Better Business Bureau in January.
A Trump college official said that the school would cooperate with authorities and consider changing its name to the less august Trump Education.

Meanwhile, Trump himself continues to enlighten his followers. On the university’s Facebook page, he’s posted an essay about how golf helps him stay successful.

I second that Chipsticks and Dorothy. Another non-education bought and paid for was GW Bush. I don’t see a problem when a young man by the name of Barry Obama with an I.Q. of 170 is accepted with open arms.

Over at TOAITR, Bobfr, found this article about Obama when he was elected to Law Review President. I don’t know how to copy it to here. It is a very interesting article. These folks are so stupid. This is all about race.

    • April 26, 2011 at 8:30 pm

      MTmarilyn,

I found this on the New York Times website:

First Black Elected to Head Harvard’s Law Review
By FOX BUTTERFIELD, Special to The New York Times
      Published: February 06, 1990

The Harvard Law Review, generally considered the most prestigious in the country, elected the first black president in its 104-year history today. The job is considered the highest student position at Harvard Law School.

The new president of the Review is Barack Obama, a 28-year-old graduate of Columbia University who spent four years heading a community development program for poor blacks on Chicago’s South Side before enrolling in law school. His late father, Barack Obama, was a finance minister in Kenya and his mother, Ann Dunham, is an American anthropologist now doing fieldwork in Indonesia. Mr. Obama was born in Hawaii.

”The fact that I’ve been elected shows a lot of progress,” Mr. Obama said today in an interview. ”It’s encouraging.

”But it’s important that stories like mine aren’t used to say that everything is O.K. for blacks. You have to remember that for every one of me, there are hundreds or thousands of black students with at least equal talent who don’t get a chance,” he said, alluding to poverty or growing up in a drug environment.

You can’t even begin to compare our glorious President to this loud and empty pig!!!

Trump’s insecurities are such that he only has gossip, slanderous racist attacks and pettiness to work with!!! This pathetic excuse for a man is disgrace to humanity!!!

Every decent person must stand up against this piece of dog doo doo!!!

I watched the Dave Letterman clip with Bill Maher and Dave is saying that it’s “just a joke” on Trump’s part??

No Dave, slander is *not* a joke!!! And this grievous racist and slanderous attack from Trump must be stopped and rejected by *all* decent people especially those who continue to dance around Trump [retending that they are “shocked” since he is a “good” person!!! Nonsense!!!

As I said down below, you would have thought that Trump might have considered the possibility that this latest Obama attack might come back to bite him in the butt. Because calling President Obama’s education “affirmative action” means Smiley’s could be denegrated as the same. This is a really racist charge, I’m not sure Trump knows what he’s stepping in here. Uncle Pat tried to defend Trump on Hardball and looksed like a raving racist loon.

I can’t believe it! This Clown’s name is every where. Even in Trinidad.

Today I’m driving home from work and there’s this new billboard advertising Rum.

But they’ve incorporated it in the word “tRUMp”. And the letters are huge and unmissable. Now I have to drive by everyday with these words blearing in my face.

    Yuck!!!!

Is it just me or does Trump look like he’s been going to Rusty Boehner’s tanning salon? What an idiot!!!! He’s sucking up the GOP oxygen though so I suspect there is a method to this. By the time someone like Huckabee or whoever gets the GOP nod, they will look very reasonable.

I put this information in Chipsticks earlier post about Anderson Cooper’s expose on birtherism. I thought Anderson’s piece was very well done and I like seeing it right now. I read the CNN article which had more information and I just want to say there is action we can take to support good journalism and the President.

We can Recommend to Facebook and put a comment there. 19.631 people recommended it when I was there this afternoon and 21,555 right now. Think of the message we are sending if we got it up to 100,000 or more!

There’s also a twitter link and some other social networking. We can post comments on this page.

    http://edition.cnn.com/2011/POLITICS/04/25/birthers.obama.hawaii/index.html

Send an email to Anderson Cooper to thank him. Here’s a contact page where you can comment on a general news topic and also pick the specific show and contact Anderson. I’m did both and I felt so good about it. I told them I stopped watching CNN because they became like Fox-lite, but investigative journalism like this could bring me back.

    http://edition.cnn.com/feedback/cnntv/

CNN can see this topic gets a lot of attention. They can show their advertisers that it does and offset pressure they may be receiving to “be more like Fox” or whatever. It’s even better than voting because we can make our voice heard more than once!

We can turn this Trump silliness into a gift for President Obama and support for fair investigative journalism.

Thanks for all of your work Chipsticks. 🙂

    Consider two scenarios:

    1. It this buffoon is building to a crescendo – “You’re fired” – and aims it at the Teabaggers and those supporting them, he will truly take down the Republican Party and probably boost his income for his next season on NBC, considerably.

    2. If this buffoon isn’t faking it (as some propose, and scenario # 1, above, doesn’t happen) he’s still going to take down the Republican Party – and NBC might just fire him. That would be my favorite outcome of the two 🙂

Megalomaniac he is, no matter what his motives. And, what an ugly one, to boot.

Shame on NBC!!! There was a time when this sort of circus act would have immediately cost him this sole source of income!!!

Yes, this apprentice crap is fast becoming this idiots primary source of income!!! He is *broke* and is bamboozling everyone hoping to leverage this into some sort of permanent deal that will guarantee him income!!!

      Trump is a loser!!!

I was thinking two things. Donald Trump reminds me so much of Rupert Murdoch. Second, maybe this is meant to be a distraction by the GOP from their horrible budget mess and attacks on public workers, women, children, and seniors. However, it is also bringing all this ridiculousness to a head. These are themes that Sarah Palin and Fox News have been spouting for three years. Maybe we can all finally make a collective decision to shun the people that propagate them.

Chipsticks, your coverage of The Donald has been sublime — the pictures you choose are priceless. I love this one, though the one with his hair taking off backwards was even better. And the clip from Robin Williams was terrific. Humor save us!

Thanks for giving me something to LOL about, I think Trump’s pompous screw is way to tight.

I rarely use the word hate, but I hate that this is even in our national discourse.
Shame on Trump. Shame on the media and shame on the ignorant fools who feel empowered by such baseless, demeaning and deplorable behavior. God may forgive them, but I am having a hard time being so accomodating.

Sue in Minnesota, whether it’s loose or to tight Trump has a problem. Why would he go down this road? He knows our race history, he knew how this would look, but he didn’t care. After all he’s the great Donald Trump and his Daddy’s money allow him to do as he please. No one better not say anything negative about him, but he can say what ever he want to about someone. Okay Trump family, step up to the plate and get your crazy ass father, husband some help.
