debunked……yet again.

Ezra Klein makes a good point on this: “It’s great that CNN has conclusively debunked the birther nonsense yet again, but really, what’s the point of fact-checking someone (Donald Trump) who has adopted a deliberate strategy of trafficking in lies in order to attract media attention, with no concern about whether it’s positive or negative?”

Still, credit to Anderson Cooper for showing these people up for what they are yet again: racist excrement.

Alex Pareene (Salon): CNN has finally found something it can take a stand against ….the man who drove CNN over the edge into something resembling activist journalism is, of course, Donald Trump.

…Anderson Cooper devoted the entirety of “Anderson Cooper 360°” last night to Trump, disguised as a special on “definitively debunking” birtherism, a conspiracy theory that has been definitively debunked a thousand times since 2008.

…Breaking: Hawaiian officials who have seen relevant documents confirm that the president was born in Hawaii! This has been known for years. The real meat of the special is a testy interview with, yes, Donald Trump, the television star…..

….But I am still proud of CNN, for finally finding some backbone and having the bravery to state that Donald Trump is a buffoon, without also noting, for balance, that some people think Donald Trump is not a buffoon. Baby steps.

Americans we know the real reasons why these people, the birthers won’t let this whole thing go. Because it’s not about where he was born, it’s about the color of his skin. And if President Obama were to release the long form of his birth certificate, these people still will find another problem, they will never be satisfied, because they are RACISTS. Led by their new leader, Donald Trump.

Anniebella: You’re saying it as it is. Amen. Karl Rove, discounting Trump’s remarks, is doing as little as possible to separate the repubs from the tpartiers. Word has been spread in their quarters that too many repub voters are leaning away because of their “weird” behaviors. But don’t let Rove fool you either. ALL POWER TO PRESIDENT OBAMA!!

The clown is claiming now that PBO’s grades were so poor that he was not qualified to enter Harvard. So they will never be satisfied no matter what. It’s a shame but also true that The Clown will always be remembered as a Birther.

It’s all a joke. Trump is after this now because the grades and thesis are sealed – this is all an attempt to get them released and hope something is in there that they could then attack.

Trump is looking more and more ridiculous and more and more racist. First challenging his nationality and now questioning his intelligence, both with no real basis.

I fail to see what benefit there would be in them ‘discovering’ that his grades were low decades ago. How would low grades change the FACT that he IS the best leader the country has had (in a long time)? These guys are really so asinine, and it’s a pity that they are allowed such a broad forum by the media – and they don’t have to pay for the time!

The remarkable “Reid Report” and a great post today asking a very important question:

DEAR NBC: Are you really going to renew race-baiter Donald Trump’s show?

If NBC renews Donald Trump’s TV show “The Apprentice,” as MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell has repeatedly stated he believes it will do next month, thus ending “The Donald’s” phony, publicity- and ratings-grubbing “run for president,” the entertainment network will have done itself a disservice.
Donald Trump’s hucksterism is embarrassing. But his racist, demeaning comments about the president are no less jarring than Glenn Beck’s. So if Beck and his chalkboard are being ushered off of TV, why does Trump appear to be getting another go?

Black viewers make up a sizable share of “The Apprentice” audience. Will that still be true now that people have a better understanding of what Donald Trump believes?

If NBC re-hires Trump, how should people who have called on advertisers to dump Fox News for employing Glenn Beck, or face boycotts, assess the peacock network? Should people who were concerned about Beck parading his race-baiting and anti-Semitic conspiracy theories on television feel any differently about Trump on NBC than they do about Beck on Fox?

Hopefully, these are questions the brass at NBC’s entertainment division are asking themselves as they consider what to do with The Donald.

Meanwhile, network renewals will be announced May 16.

I don’t understand why people even watch that show—The Apprentice nonsense. Hasn’t the novelty of it, the utter foolishness and ugliness, worn off by now? A complete waste of time, imho. And why is LaToya Jackson saying she thinks The Donald would be a great president? Geez Louise, people.
As the birther issue continues to be knocked down again and again and again, Trump is now moving on to the Affirmative Action issue, that he “heard” Obama was a “terrible” student, against all evidence to the contrary. It looks like Trump is not going to quit his anti-Obama campaign any time soon. He will keep “hearing” bad stuff about Obama, and the media will continue to invite him to appear to spout off. I continue to wonder about the origin of all this bitter anger, this retaliation. Could it possibly be because the WH denied his offer to build a Trump Wing onto the WH? Is that it?

        April 26, 2011 at 12:42 pm

Actually – one of the reporters on Andersen Cooper last night was clearly disgusted by the birther nonsense, and basically said that one can’t reason with the likes of the birthers, and that even if the President released his long form birth certificate under the Freedom of Information Act, the birthers still would find another reason to discredit it. He was almost spitting with disgust. They even said that John McCain’s birth is more questionable as a Presidential candidate, since he was born on a base in Panama, but that then-Candidate Obama didn’t challenge it, and it’s ironic that the candidate with no issues is the one that is now under scrutiny.

The good thing is that anyone spouting this birther nonsense is now seen as racist and crazy – which they are.

I wonder if this is why Brewer vetoed the birther bill. Because she knows that he’d be on the Az ballot and it would either take some steam out of the birther’s belief or would cause the birthers to turn on her and calim she is on on the cover-up. Also with a Senate race in Az, I wonder if Az didn’t want to be birther ground zero because Flake would be drawn into it and would hurt him no matter which way he went.

“Proud” is not a word I would EVER use to describe CNN. Because their response to Anderson Cooper in the interest of “fair and balanced” will be another hit piece by John King full of unchallenged lies and concern trolling.

    • April 26, 2011 at 1:03 pm

Fred you are on a roll this day. i agree again and Anderson Cooper is a closeted far left opportunistic as far as I am concerned. He and those like them will continue to have their creature comforts, millionaire trust funds, after and if the GOP succeeds in a rout in 2012. They don’t care about us. Trust me.

      • April 26, 2011 at 1:10 pm

That might all be true, but he’s been consistently superb on the birther issue, so I appreciate him for that.

        • 27 Fred
          April 26, 2011 at 1:31 pm

Of all the shows/people on CNN, Anderson Cooper is the most left friendly. But that is just him and his show…..for now. They could easily decide to unfairly go after Obama on something tomorrow if they saw a ratings upside to it. Just like a lot of other people are doing.

Don’t think for one second the executives on the Daily Show are not looking at their ratings and deciding how to thread the needle to sqeeze as much juice as possible out of that show. Over time they have discovered that if he does the occasional hit piece on Obama they can tap into the nutjobs and their ratings go up further. But they have to be careful they do not alienate their base viewers (which they have done with me, I don’t watch the show anymore). These are not stupid people. They put food on the table, send their kids to college and get the best private health care in the world based on how well they do on getting ratings. Right and wrong, left and right, true or false. It means nothing to them!

Using such obviously ridiculous, silly, absurd smears and slander is ALL THEY’VE GOT. They cannot possibly run on the ISSUES, because they are greedy, selfish, idiotic LOSERS when it comes to that. Americans know what’s in store if Rethuglicans take control of the economy once again and, though they stayed home in 2010 and let the House go to these bastards, 2012 is gonna be a whole lot different. President Obama is already rallying his troops and the Rethuglicans only have pathetic birthers for their candidate-wannabees. Can’t wait for the debates!

What all this nonsense about birth certificates and grades and how “Christian” President Obama is – what all this boils down to is the simple truth that the opposition does not want to have a debate on the issues – a debate than none of their prospective contenders could possibly win. So here comes the garbage truck – they hope that some dirt will stick. It will, all you liars, but the strong wind of truth will blow it up right into your faces where it will stay for all the world to see.

    • 38 Fred
      April 26, 2011 at 1:36 pm

Which is no different than what they did with Clinton. The difference now with a black Democrat is the racism that has always been there in the background in the Rethug party is coming out more and they are trying to use that. Worked well for midterms which is why it was amped up. Now few smart Rethugs and their media minions are working hard to tamp that down because it is not helpful for them in a general election.

In a way you gotta admire the right wing machines ability to manipulate the masses into voting against their own self interest. It’s morally bankrupt and takes a despicable sort of person to do it but that is besides the point.

You know, when I saw the above picture of Chump, with that big mouth of his, wide opened, I Instantly got hell In me. I’m a STRUGGLING Christian on my way to Heaven, but for goodness sakes, Trump, ENOUGH all ready. ENOUGH!!!!You know, It’s one thing to behave like a Clown, because It’s a form of acting or being funny. But Trump Is acting more like a FOOL, because he’s not making sense, no rhyme or reason, no facts, no stats. He’s too much of a Coward to just say, that he doesn’t want a BLACK President. I mean, really, what else can I make of It? I need to get started on writing a book about the HELL, that The Obamas, and Us Blacks caught, during the Obama Presidency, by the RACIST here In these UNITED STATES of AMERICA. I’m speaking of the Insults, just the mere fact, that they report repeatedly on the media daily, and It’s like twenty-four seven. The Media Is following up on every Racist comment that one makes. I can’t help but wonder, how do they/media feel working side by side, with other Blacks, as they contribute to the Birthers and Racist crowd. Do they not realize how offensive this sounds to their black co-workers? How am I to feel when working beside them as they participate with all the ranting and raving? Do they realize that this is plain old RUDE? Do they realize that they are stirring In the “MESS”, which causes It to STINK? Now I know everybody Is NOT Racist, mean spirited, with evil Intents, and Lord, I’m so thankful for those who aren’t. Then there’s the “SMILEYS” and the “CORNELL WEST”s mixed In the bunch 😦 This Is not RIGHT!!!!! As a matter of fact, this could be dangerous. It gives an eery feeling, you know, frightening. Leaves a REAL nasty taste In my mouth. I just can’t dislike someone, because of the color of their skin, It’s just not In me, and I’m ohhhhhhh so grateful for that. But People like Smiley, Trump, West, I don’t like what they stand for, I find them to be mean spirited, prejudice, and evil. Why? Because I dissagree with your views, or I don’t look like you, or because you think, that I just might be a bit smarter or whatever??? Who knows?? I’m not getting this.

Look, I’m a people’s person, number one, but having to listen and hear rants, and raves, because of envy, and meaness, just gets to me, especially when It becomes a daily thing. Please know that I love the “TOD” Family, and Chips, you are one of the best 🙂 God bless all of you 🙂

Bless you Luci. What a big heart you have.

I feel the same about Cornell and Tavis. I too fear that they are going to discourage others because of the large bull horn they have with the public. I feel the same about the white folks on sites that undermine our president. They consider themselves progressive democrats, but I am appalled at the way the speak about him and some very obvious racial comments. They are working against our president–because he is not liberal enough for them.

We must keep the faith with those who feel so great about PBO. These nasty people, which ever side they are on, are probably a small proportion of this country, but the media constantly focuses on these haters. I am so grateful for TOB, BWD TPV and many other new sites that support the president. They allow me to keep my sanity.

This is good. The fact that birthers don’t believe the President was born in this country has nothing to do with reality, but there are many normal people who just don’t pay attention, but hear the rumors. Those are the people who will be convinced. The others are a lost cause and that’s all right — let them vote for Trump or whoever they want. It also firms up opinions that the Republican right is irrational. Don’t trust the Republicans on birtherism and it’s not such a far reach to not trust them on anything or at least to be unsure of the Republicans. I think people can also begin to realize the unreasonable crap the President has to deal with.

This was a good job of checking it out, it’s on national TV and with a respected journalist. Good job. I’m glad to see the media respond in a responsible way. Thanks, Chipsticks.

I just read the CNN article which I thought was really good. There is action we can take to support good journalism.

Recommend to Facebook and put a comment there. 19.631 people have recommended it. There’s also a twitter link and some other social networking. We can post comments on this page. There were 15,045 comments.

Send an email to Anderson Cooper to thank him. Here’s a contact page where you can comment on a general news topic and also pick the specific show and contact Anderson. I’m going to do both.

CNN can see this topic gets a lot of attention. They can show their advertisers that it does and offset pressure they may be receiving to “be more like Fox” or whatever. It’s even better than voting because we can make our voice heard more than once.

And I must say I really enjoy giving my appreciation on good news about our President.

I did not like this report at all. I understand it proves for the 1000 time the President was born in Hawaii but that’s not the point of what Trump is doing. The truth is not what’s important here. Trump and the crazy birthers want the press to attack the President and I think this piece did exactly that because one again a crediable (supposely) news origization is investigating the President. Leave it to CNN to once again follow the Right’s lead just like with Shirley Sherrod and all the other lies spewed from Fox and it’s candidates. I hope these kinda reports do not start to catch on with other media shows.

Just the facts please! That’s all I want from the media. Objective reporting…No drama. Just tell the truth!

I hope that for the umpteenth time, that CERTAIN people will believe that PBO’s birth certificate is real. Unfortnately, there are some weak-minded folks out there that only want to believe, what they want to believe. I guess that is who the media is playing to these days. News is just another version of ‘reality’ TV. And reality is in the eye of the beholder. I just hope there are more sane people out there.

Ann T…I am on your page. I no longer expect to get credible information from our major MSM sources. And for the most part I have quit looking to them. I hope that citizen journalists who value truth and perspective gain a serious foothold in the information distribution system. I am also grateful that this White House has put so much energy and effort into providing information as well.

I usually do not wish ill upon anyone, but if the MSM failed itself out of existence, I’ld break into a happy dance. They have every opportunity to deliver reliable and credible journalism but they refuse to risk their profit margins. F$@k them.
